Animated Avatar Assistance

Archive: 17 posts

I don't have any money to get a program to animate gif's, but I would like an animated avatar, since I recently gotten the basic upgrade. (Hooray!) If anyone could help, I would like it to be the picture Zim drew of me (http://i37.tinypic.com/30vf8ti.jpg) but with a moving cape. I would be able to give thanks or xp in return, whichever you would like.
Also, the avatar version is here (http://i34.tinypic.com/2d0xfs6.jpg). Please get the zim invader's signature off of there, as there have been problems shrinking it down before.

I believe GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) can help you if you don't have the money. It's a free program and it's quite useful.2010-09-01 16:06:00

Ok, but how do I ANIMATE it? I have GIMP, but haven't used it much. Can someone who has used a zim drawing for an animated gif please tell me? I just want the cape to flow in the wind, you know?2010-09-01 18:40:00

download a free program called "UnFreez" all you have to do is drag .gif image files into the program and give it a name its really easy2010-09-02 02:01:00

Woudlnt you have to draw each frame of the wind moving it?
Which I estimate around 3-4 Frames at least

Exactly why I haven't done it yet, I don't think I can just start with one frame and make it animated. Plus, I was thinking 10 frames, so it looks smooth to the eye.

You can probably ask TheZimInvader to do it but unless she is very nice your going to probably give some xp.2010-09-02 04:54:00

I was hoping someone else could, as she is so buzy and deserves a break after all she has done for us, but I guess it never hurts to ask.2010-09-02 16:25:00

I would happily do it, but the cape happens to be coloured quite complexly (is that a word?). It would be quite a challenge.2010-09-02 17:46:00

I'm not sure this would be too tricky...

25 frames per second - so 25 frames...

The cape could be cut out as a separate layer and then use liquid filter to play with it for each frame... 15 minute job I reckon.

Or do it in Flash and tween the image between two points and then save as gif.

Would you be up to the challenge then, rhy? Just so as not to put any pressuer on anyone, I am not going to be on here for at last a week, since my brother is getting married, so If someone wants to try, go for it.2010-09-03 03:45:00

Yeah OK - give me a bit. I would have prefered to do it in Flash but I don't have it at home.

I take it you can now have 125x125 right?

I'll have a go in PS tonight.

Rhy

EDIT-------------------

OK - took a while longer than expected but how about this? Only 20 frames but it was pretty smooth with that.

Is there a way to shrink it down to what is allowed on my profile?
It went up from 100x100 to '110 by 110 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller),' so that is a little big.

It's actually 125x125.... and I thought you might have that upgrade (same as mine).

I will reduce it down for you tomorrow.

Due to the lack of enthusiasm, I take it you're not keen?
