How to Prepare for LBP2?

Archive: 12 posts

So day by day, LBP2's launch that comes closer (unless it gets delayed :'( )

Since LBP1 and LBP2 can link together.... is there anyway to prepare for LBP2 when it comes out using LBP1?

Like start making some gadgets and gizmos using LBP1's tools and then transfer them to LBP2?

I want to make something in LBP1.... but I don't want it to be obsolete in LBP2.

Is the safe bet just to plan it out in paper and wait?

maybe you could start designing costumes for your sackbots or create some level scenery-the logic
as far as I can see there's not really any point devfeloping gameplay yet as it will just become needless effort in about 2 months!!!

Designing costumes for sackbots isn't really a good idea, considering all of the new costumes in LBP2 will be much better than LBP1. Since LBP2's costumes will be animated, look better etc. I think the only thing you can do now is just plan things on paper.2010-09-01 17:14:00

You could change the appearance of your starting areas in your levels if you have sequels you plan to stitch together with the new checkpoint to make the levels blend into each other seamlessly.2010-09-01 17:50:00

I've done a few experiments building a top-down world to see what works, what its limitations are. I think you can start building the scenery for levels already (you can use the material changer if LBP2 turns out to have more suitable materials), just don't make any logic yet.2010-09-01 19:50:00

I write down any ideas/themes I have instead of making them in LBP(1), This way I will have some ideas for LBP2 2010-09-01 19:54:00

Until UPS drops my pre-order at my front door LBP2 doesn't exist. Just enjoy the game you have now and have fun. If you're bored with LBP play something else until LBP2 is released. People act like LBP2 will magically make any level 100x better. No, don't place a block in LBP, blocks placed in LBP2 will be self-aware and will mow your lawn! What you can count on with LBP2 is that bad levels will still be bad they will just feature sack-bots and until some patches are released create mode will probably be buggy as all get out.2010-09-01 20:39:00

Yeah but the problem guys is that I WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING.

I wanna make a Metal Slug level and I want to make this platformher/adventure level about the World Tree being attacked by evil machines and stuff.... I have tons of ideas..... i just don't have the time to make them. But I want to start making them! But If i start now LBP2 will already be released :'(

Dude, I think you're stressin' about this a little too much.

Just make due with what you have, so as long as it's nothing intricate i.e. logic oriented objects;

and as soon as LBP2 comes out and you familiarize yourself with the new content, then you can start tuning your stuff up.

Just try and enjoy the simplicity of this game while it lasts man (;
