The colour for the sidebar (or whatever it is called)

Archive: 11 posts

I got curious some time ago when a few people happened to have what seemed to be circular avatars. Therefore I wonder what the colour of that sidebar is, which surrounds your logo and etc. Please in photoshop, what the numbers are on the three bar things that makes you able to decide colours and such!

Three bars as in RGB? Your post is a little confusing. People might be using avatars with transparent backgrounds.2010-08-31 14:51:00

Wouldnt it be just white so the colour of the forum matches it, so then u cannot see the transition from the border of the avatar to the border of the forum page.2010-08-31 18:21:00

I once used Vista's Snipping Tool to capture the sidebar and then eye-dropped the color from it.

If you have Vista, go to All Programs>Accessories>Snipping Tool and steal some color!

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.

Well, the colour's RGB values that you see on Photoshop are: R: 242, G: 246, B: 248.

The web hex code (or whatever it is) is: #f2f6f8, like tjb said.

Also, the "sidebar's" real name, I believe, is the Post bit.

Instead of matching the color, just make a transparent background. Your avatar make look higher quality as well.

You can do this when you select File -> New. One of the options will be background color, change that to transparent. Then copy your image from the white background (assuming they are not merged) and paste into the new, transparent one. There are other ways to do this, but this is the easiest.

I find that in photoshop, making a transparent avatar washes out the color a bit. :/2010-09-03 18:11:00

I have never found that for me. It would depend on the format it is saved as.
