Reached the costume limit!

Archive: 25 posts

Hey all, so I was on a level making costumes from the dynasty warriors characters, when suddenly I'm told that I reached the limit for My Costumes. I'll probably update this thread later in the week with all my costumes, might just make a slideshow or somesuch but I have to refine a couple just a big with new dlc content. Anyway, I was wondering if there's a workaround to the limit, or if it's dependant on HDD free space. Seeing as how it's my HDD free space, if I want to fill it up with costumes I should be able to, instead of having an arbitrary number for a limit, unless there's some sort of programming reason behind it then I'd understand.2010-08-31 07:34:00

200 is the limit no matter what, even if its the only thing you make in LBP, no workaround m8.

Aye, I know what you mean, 200 isn't enough, I've reached that limit so many times and had to delete so many costumes... T^T

Oh I didn't know that. Well then you have to use different savegames for your profile for all the costumes.2010-08-31 11:41:00

200 isn't enough

I only have around 10 saved costumes and 20 dlc ones. What kind of costumes do you make?

Same with me, except no dlc ones, other than the free ones, of course! :hero:

Aye, that would be good, but if I do, would that make me have to unlock all the lbp stuff over again? Since there's also a profile autoload, how would I choose which one?

Also thanks for the wrong section comment, would a mod please move this?

E: Also, how would the update that puts the user stuff into the game data folder work with this? Or do I have it all wrong?

Costume makers tend to make +100 costumes on a regular basis, so reaching the 200 limit is not uncommon.

Also @ Trev:
There's an edit button at the lower right of your posts, I reccomend you use instead of double posting, as double posting is against the rules and may get you in trouble if done continuously.

@confusatron
Well you can import your saved profil whenever you want but you always only have everything you saved with it. That means that you always have to keep your saved profiles updated and you have to save every obejct you created and saved in your profile to an extra level so you can save them to your other profiles aswell. If you are using 1 more profil that means you have space for 200 more costumes so I think it's worth the effort.

Yeah its nothing for us costume makers to own over a 100
even 200 is not that hard if you owned the game over a year,
and thats even with haven deleted a lot over time~

for now unless LBP2 helps in someway, useing a 2nd back up profile is the best way to go
even though i'd would not do it, but its your best bet for now if you don't own any outfits
you don't mind deleting that is. *mew

Thanks. So before I fire up my ps3 and try it out, let's just see if I got the procedure right-

Go to profile back-up and make 2 separate back-ups. Keep one as it is, delete the costumes from the other one and use that for space for the new ones. If I get new DLC or anything, I just load up the other one and go to my content and load it from there too so that I have it on both. Is that right?

All DLC auto goes to everything thats LBP on your PS3,
so your DLC will be on both profiles no matter when you get them,

And yeah you pretty much got the idea down right,
just be really careful not to ever save over the wrong one when you save from time to time. *mew

It's only important to copy your created objects to both accounts or else you will lose them when you use your older profile and save over the other one.2010-08-31 20:13:00

Well, unlike many cartoon and movie characters, people tend to like variety and not wearing the same outfit every day.

Plus it takes creativity and a lot of work to make a good costume. I've only recently started making costumes that are cool, and I intend to make more. So I can see how a 200 limit might be a problem eventually.

Hopefully LBP2 has some answer to the problem.

Are you Joking or something?

when i don't like one of them anymore i delete and replace it with one i do like, *mew

i mean what do some of you people do?
just wear the same thing all day like a Old cartoon character, like Gilgamesh said?

I dunno' if lbp2 will increase the number you can store, but I'm betting you'll be able to use sackbots as a workaround. In the sackbot costume menu, it has the "save costume" option just like the regular costume menu in lbp. So I would think you'll be able to slap a custom costume onto a bot, delete it from your costume menu, and then recover it from the bot any time you like. Then stick all your bots into a storage level on your moon somewhere (dunno' what the limit on bots is, but you can use multiple levels and export them as backups if you need to).

I do have to say I'm surprised that 200 isn't enough costumes for some people. I've got around 30-40 including all the Transformer ones from my sig and it's pretty rare that I come up with a new one that I think is worth keeping.

Wow, your TF G1 ones are pretty cool. Someone over at the don murphy boards commented that they made a cool devastator one (He's one of the producers from the film, trust me, if it weren't for that board, the movies would have turned out wayyyy worse, soundwave would have been a blender in the first one). I'm actually trying to get the ones from the movies, I know I know, but the thing is that having them translated over to lbp would still be a cool thing.

Actually if you can put them on bots, I'd just save them with the costume and have them follow me, like have 3 sackbots and I be the tmnt's

200 has been enough for me personally, but like to narrow down things to the ones i can use for a longer period of time and that i personally think are my best i don't care about letting costumes that I see as less go. Most of the random people I see nowadays in game look like they are dressed for a day at the beach anyways lol. Hopefully they will make the limit in LBP2 a higher amount cause more is better always obviously.2010-09-03 00:31:00

I have another question that just surfaced, and I thought I'd ask it here instead of creating anothe thread- Will the costume parts that were in lbp1 (ex cowboy hat) be included in lbp2? I know DLC will as well as user created content, but what about costume parts that were part of the first game? Or will they be turned into dlc for lbp2?2010-09-10 02:48:00

I dunno if it'll be included by default or if you'll have to import them from your lbp1 profile, but I'm fairly certain that if you have the costume piece in lbp1, you'll have it in lbp2.

I actually spent some time lurking on the Don Murphy boards way back before the first movie, but I quit going 'cuz I couldn't stand the Tf designs. They were a bit better by the time the movie came out, but I'm still not thrilled with them.

I have no idea how you could make even 100 costumes lol.

I have ~20 of which I only use ~5...

But, I wish there was no caps on anything. (especially community objects and stickers and (when will we be able to share costumes?!))
