New Homepage

Alright, for those of you who visit the homepage (http://www.lbpcentral.com) regularly(not many of you), you should now see a new and improved homepage up and running. There's a few things about it that make it really special:

1) First of all, it's built right into the forums. You can reply to front page news as easily as replying to a thread, so it's a lot more user friendly.

2) It allows us to cater to our members first. Before, our news was largely based on LittleBigPlanet news and new info. With the new setup, we can easily promote an existing thread to the frontpage. Think about that: If someone makes an awesome LittleBigPlanet level that we want everyone to see, we can easily promote it to the homepage so everyone, members and nonmembers, will be able to see what our members have made.

3) It will also improve new user registration. We have a slightly different layout for unregistered users(log out when viewing the homepage (http://www.lbpcentral.com) to take a look), along with the fact that they will instantly be in our forums when they visit the site. This way we can promote our community a whole lot more.

4) Finally, we have set up a way for you guys to submit news that you think deserves to hit the frontpage. Whether it is a creation by a forum member, or some new bit of info regarding LittleBigPlanet, you can easily post about it in the new "News Submission" forum.


Note: This is not the only way for something particularly fantastic to hit the homepage. If a member of the site staff sees something that deserves to go up on the frontpage, we can put it up quite easily.

I noticed it about half an hour ago. Pretty sweet.

Could I get my flying box glitch video on the front page? Or is that not considered news, or because it was done in the beta?

Yeah, we wanted better integration. Before it was like 2 separate areas with some of the same news but different. I also wanted to have some better links to the galleries and that sort of thing. I was getting behind with posting on the main page, so this should keep things more current.

I noticed it. It's nice. I see we've also switched to some advertising now. Does this mean any sinisiter changes to the site, or is it just to help pay for what I'm sure are very costly servers?

No, we're just keeping just the one ad up. That's where most of the site's unique traffic is driven, so we can use that to help pay the server fees.		2008-10-23 14:09:00

Yeah, trust me on this guys. This isn't to make a lot of money. This is to hopefully break even. LOL

If we actually start making money beyond the costs, we'll actually put that towards some contest prizes and that sort of thing.
