Help with randomiser
Archive: 10 posts
Basically I need a randomiser with 12-15 outputs, it needs to select one every 11 seconds and it can't select the same one twice in a row. I've got a few systems in place but it's not very random and I don't know how to make it so it won't select the same one twice in a row. Any helpers/suggestions? | 2010-08-30 16:56:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
I have no idea how randomizers work but you could just connect loads of them together | 2010-08-30 19:58:00 Author: JayJSE2 ![]() Posts: 164 |
Did you already play THESE (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?102-Logic-Pack)? I'm guessing you have since it looks like you've been here a while, but if not I would check there first. | 2010-08-30 20:16:00 Author: Rottinghouse ![]() Posts: 143 |
Yeah rotting, nothing in that pack that does precisely what I need unfortunately, that'd be too handy otherwise!! The fact that it can't select the same thing twice in a row is INTEGRAL to the point of me needing it. | 2010-08-30 22:13:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
What I would probably do is make a long enough pattern that it can't be seen as being an actual pattern, or have two patterns running simultaneously at different speeds. I know that what you have built is probably completely different than what I'm picturing, but since an object can't be emitted where an object already is, maybe keeping that in mind would help with the two-in-a-row problem since something can't be emitted in location 1 again until the original piece is gone. Probably not helpful at all, but I'm hoping this will at least help spark an epiphany for you ![]() Or you could always ask RTM223 ![]() | 2010-08-30 23:03:00 Author: Rottinghouse ![]() Posts: 143 |
In Cin's Logic Workshop (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=31753-Logic-Workshop) he has some different style randomizers available. You may also be able to rig a large output mutex (mutual exclusion) device to act as a randomizer. | 2010-08-31 03:11:00 Author: tanrockstan34 ![]() Posts: 1076 |
Use mah method ;D. Mebe i'll try another crack at solving this problem. . . | 2010-08-31 03:35:00 Author: SupaSack34 ![]() Posts: 180 |
Godmphermc has bestowed upon me a method of randomisation but I'm not sure if it does the mut'ex thing, i'll have to play with it some more ![]() If it comes down to it i'll have to use yours wit ![]() | 2010-08-31 13:30:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
An interesting challenge. Have you solved the problem yet? I reckon I could do it. | 2010-09-17 16:01:00 Author: fluxlasers ![]() Posts: 182 |
I've sorted it! A non-repeating randomiser. I have given it 16 output as it's easier to remove outputs than it is to add extra ones. It's fairly simple - an adaptation of the randomiser found in the Advanced Logic Pack, I just added a few extra bits to ensure it doesn't pick the same number twice in a row. Add me as a friend and I'll send it to you, or catch me online and copy it from my moon. | 2010-09-17 18:28:00 Author: fluxlasers ![]() Posts: 182 |
