Trying to put LBP files back on PS3...

Archive: 6 posts

My PS3 died recently, but I just got a new one. Luckily I did backup my data to a USB flash drive, now I'm trying to put the data back. Seems like it should be a simple process, I backed up my profile and 1 level with the convenient tools located in LBP itself. Now I can't seem to figure out how to put them on the new PS3.

I open the Saved Data Utility folder and it shows the USB Drive, but when I click it, it's empty. I tried pushing triangle and trying different folders. I can see the files in the video or music section, but can't copy them from there. What do I do?

Which kind of backup was it?

If it was from before when the profile size upgrade, I'm not sure how to help...

But if it was after that, (Which I'm guessing from "recently") start the game, press start, settings, profile settings, import profile.

If it doesn't even show up, though, I don't know what to say.

Yeah, it's from after the upgrade. When I do exactly what you said, it doesn't find anything, I don't think it can read a USB stick from LBP, it just checks the HDD.

This is driving me crazy. I backed up my stuff exactly like the game told me as soon as that update came out (it even says you can use a USB stick)

There must be someone who knows what's going on.

Gave you looked in game data utility and copying there?
I know you're supposed to lok in saved, but i think they changed it to have more profile space or something.

I kinda doubt it, but its worth a shot no?

I open the Saved Data Utility folder and it shows the USB Drive, but when I click it, it's empty.

Check the files on a PC. Assuming your USB drive maps to drive X:, they have to be in XS3SAVEDATAcode, where code is the game code. It's BCES00141 for Europe. Not sure what the US version is.

Inside that directory there must be (at least) a PARAM.SFO and PARAM.SFD file.

Thank you!

I had it: X:SAVEDATAcode - Forgot the PS3 folder, which was the one on my desktop, which I just clicked then copied the files inside.

I knew it had to be some simple solution.
