a new player 1 and player 2 button

Archive: 28 posts

i think that in lbp2 there should be a button that only works for player 1 and a button that only works for player 2 ( much like in mario and luigi partners in time ) also i think MM should create a pole which switch would you like to see in lbp 2 and the winning switch will get to be in lbp22010-08-29 08:31:00

I didn't understand the switch question, because of the lack of *cough*, but if you use Sackbots and Magne Keys on them, you can make buttons work with only a specific player.2010-08-29 14:05:00

Its possible in LBP1 in a way.
A switch the activates when you pull it a certain length but since there is 2 people u need that extra force to pull it that 1 person cannot do.

Wrong, that would mean you need either 1 or 2 players to activate a button. He wants that the right player presses the right button.
See my earlier post

HAO EXACTLY?

The only way i see it, is Sackbots with different Magne Keys. Then put a Magne Switch over your button, wire them both to an AND switch, an wire it to the output.

Im talking that it may be possible in LBP1 with limitations of course but still may be possible.2010-08-31 15:06:00

Hmm well its just off the top of my head buuut....
if we are talking about making a 1 player only level
you could make something like a block of wood that when more then one sack is on it
its to heavy and won't work until only one person is on it,
and there be a delay logic so one person could not just simply jump up and it'd work for that one moment
where there only be one sack,

but if your just talking about wanting a button logic that only works for one player
so that sometimes in some places in your level where you don't want more then one player
but in other places in the same level you do, meaning you be useing the new camera that don't follow every player,
then that still could be made with logic just fine, but it take me just a bit longer to think of.... *mew

You can make the button set P1's speed to 0 and set the camera over to P2 and then enable P2's speed and vice versa.2010-08-31 16:38:00

Coasterfreak is right - one sackbot with one mag key, another with a different. Then just set the corresponding switches, and voila, job done! 2010-08-31 18:10:00

I wish my PS3 worked so I could try my 1 player Switches only Logic out.

So far I thought of a way to get it to work only if Player 1 is near the switch.
All though it may not work, I need a PS3 to test it out. >.<

Because you can't slap anything logically differing on Sackboys and the sensor switches don't really care are you player 1 or 2, there is just no way to do it.
Unless you've glitched something reeeal bad.

The tweak "Require All?" has nothing to do with player numbers BTW.

I know coasterfreak i thought of it, I will draw up a diagram and put it in the tutorial section sometimes when I debug the whole Logic.
Remember, This is Little Big Planet, you can do pretty much anything.

No idea what this is about, but in LBP2, if you have a 1P only level, simply set a switch that only activates when there is 2 or more things in its field. Then close the door or display a message or something if it's triggered.2010-09-02 04:16:00

I think the thread starter wants a button to only work with the player of the correct number, not players of the correct amount.2010-09-02 05:28:00

Does anyone want a 1p only ability so only 1 players can activate switches?
If so then I guess I can draw up something.

If you need the switch to be a non-sensor switch, (a Button f. ex.) then use that button and an inverted sensor switch requiring two or more players, and hook both up to an AND gate.2010-09-02 05:45:00

What do u mean, it sounds like thats suppose to activated a switch whenever more than 1 player is activating it.
I am talking about, Only a specific can activate the switches,

Example: Player 3 can activate the switches but Players 1, 2, 4 cannot

Alright, let's play nice, guys.

There maybe an exceedingly complicated (or simple) method of doing this in LBP1, but the OP is talking about LBP2. Now, how about we just wait until PAX shows up, than we can all watch for ourselves!
Because I haven't heard anything about player specific switches atm,

Play nice? I'm pretty sure we weren't arguing...

But no, so far the only way to have player specific switches is to have sackbots, as far as I know.

Wrong, the sensor switch was inverted, so it will deactivate when meeting 2 or more players.

...and I've said through the whole thread "use Sackbots and Magne Keys."

I dont think you understand... >.<
Imagine Player 1 had the power to activate it.
Player 2 is pulling the switch and it wont activate.
Player 1 comes along and activates it.

Or maybe YOU won't understand >.<

My last switch idea wasn't for that mechanism, but for a button that wouldn't activate if there was over 1 players pressing it.

And, for the n:th time, how to do that system, is;

Take 2 Sackbots, (Controllinator controlled) and place two different Magne Keys on them. Then, make the sponge you have to grab, add a Grab switch to it.

Then, take a Magne Switch, resize the area so that your Sackbot's Magne Key just barely fits in when grabbing the piece of sponge. Then, color and label the Magne Switch correctly.

Then, take and AND gate, wire the Magne Switch and Grab Switch to it, and wire the output to whatever you want it to do.

Of course, the system does flaw a bit, but perhaps using the "custom Magne Switch" trick as presented in the Game Jammers' thread would make it more reliable.

There. Is it the 4th time?

My question is, why does LBP2 need a "pole"?

Or did he mean "poll"?
