Lately ive been hated on by a few people and its starting to make me not feel comfortable creating(not sure if this is the right place to put this thread).It all started when i started making my level series, i posted a thread asking for assistance and got a response from someone, im not saying who this someone is because i dont wanna say any names. well this someone wanted to help me create the level series and i felt obliged meeting someone new, being the showoff that i am i showed him a few of my Avatars and level icons since i feel i am good at doing so, he responded and said that he didnt like my font, when he asked why he explained to me that there were problems although i had seen none at all in my work. i showed him my signature with my version of the LBP font that i use in all of my avatars and he said that it had too many corners and had to use a corner editor(i had already used the editor to make it). he said for some reason that i HAD to copy it off of someone else. as a creator, i have my limits and told him that i refused to do such because i never use anyone elses work in a level or an avatar or an icon that they didnt help me create, i then proceeded to show him my level in progress and said it was bland, when asked to give me the definition of bland he refused to do so. we then proceeded back to his pod and he searched for the LBP font again, i then stated clearly again that i completely REFUSED to use someone elses work in mine. he then proceeded to cuss a few times, call me a s****y creator and thats when i left. a couple weeks later to this week, i had been working on my level and i wanted my friend bell to create with me, i met bell through bon. bon tried the beta version of my level with bell, anyways i proceeded to show bell my level and bell wasnt impressed. bell said that my level was a piece of **** and said that bon called me and my level a **** embarrasment to the community, he then proceeded to screw up my level and then i went back to the pod and thats when he left.Is there something wrong with me? Why does everyone i meet have to turn into a First Class A-hole a few weeks or days into meeting them? i can understand being a s****y creator but it hurts when someone has to go and step on my self esteem, im seriously thinking about quitting creating. LBE

People you meet on LBP can be complete idiots, its better to just stick with people you meet off of LBPC. That way you know if they are the type of person you want to be around and most of the people on LBPC are really nice.

You shouldn't quit creating, there will always be haters. You seem to have had bad experiences with the first ones you have shown your level to, but don't let that disturb you. As you said, you were happy with what you had done and that is what counts. There are mean people everywhere. The day everyone gets along, is the same day the world is made perfect. Remember, that this is ONE person, out of a whole community. Do you like your font? If you like it, and you want to change it, that is your choice. LBP is all about having fun making what YOU want. So what if this person doesn't like it? Remember, the goal of LBP is to have fun. A lot of times, we get so caught up in what other people think, that we let it affect the way we build. After all, a wise man once told me, "Create for yourself and not for others" - jump_button. So don't give up! Don;t let one person's opinion affect you! Keep on going, and remember to have fun while you're doing it!

Thats why you post your level in the Level Showcase thread and let people from here have a look. The community of LBPC(for the most part) is going to give you good, constructive feedback.

Yeah, I'd follow everyone else's advice above and stick with people you know. Try messaging some people who seem nice here on LBPC, saying hi, or you like their levels or similar, then you can start up a coversation with them and slowly become friends. Then you can share ideas, help eachother out with levels and whatnot. I've met a lot of nice people this way. Good luck to you ^_^

People are idiots, we just have to learn to live with them milling about the pavements like giant farting skittles, and ruining everything that is awesome. There is a small percentage of people who are genuinly nice, and they are from the website LBPC, befriend them. Oh and about justin beiber, he gets hate because he can't sing. Just sayin'

If everyone gave up just because some idiot hated their work, nobody would get anywhere, there WILL always be someone who 'hates' what you've done. You shouldn't give up creating, there could be many reasons why they don't like your level. They might just be jealous of your work. Every good creator will always have someone who wants to do what they did, but they themselves knew they could never do it. Like with me, I've had so many people who asked told me to put my creation into a prize bubble or make my level copyable, of course I didn't so suddenly the thing they wanted so much became 'gaey*', 'stupid', 'ugly' and so on..

Good on you for not naming the hater (except the ones you DID name). Anyhow, don't give up creating based on the possibly jealous reaction of two or three nincompoops. Some of the greatest levels ever created have been downgraded to 3 or 4 stars by the haters. They base their actions on things like jealousy, a need to feel superior (by putting others down) and selfishness. Look at it this way - at least you got to find out what that first person was like before you went headlong into a lengthy creating project with him. Sounds like someone who wanted to have control, and they generally don't make good co-creators. Anyhow, I suggest trying to find a few good pals here. I found my best buds (except for one) through the LBPC social groups - and not the "project team" ones, but ones like the Fun & Friendly, etc., where people just like to meet for a chat, as that's where you see personalities showing through. I hope you have a bit more success than you have had so far. And perhaps don't go showing your projects to people unless you trust them. Still, if people are going to be jerks, they're going to be jerks no matter what you or I do. Just don't become one of them yourself. The golden rule: treat others the way that you would like them to treat you. Over and out.
