Help w/ Emitters/ Logic Debug!

Archive: 7 posts

The problem is a bit too complex to explain, but it mainly involves some light FX emitters going on with no apparent reason.

The level includes a TON of other wiring, so might it be it that the game doesn't like to keep track of all those wires?

I'm looking for an experienced logic person... (*gazing at the name rtm223*)

And while we're at it, some feedback wouldn't hurt either!

Have you double checked that all of them are wired up and if they are, the switches are not inverted?2010-08-28 23:19:00

They all are wired up. The interesting thing is, that the Magne Switch that governs the odd emitter, is also connected to 2 more emitters, and they don't have any hiccups...

Can the almighty mods tell why this isn't in the section "Help!"?

I would just place the emitter again. That should fix it right up!2010-08-30 16:52:00

Is this happening in create mode? I hope you're aware of the one-shot rewind bug...

I've never had an issue with too much wiring causing a logic problem. The way to debug it is to deconstruct it piece by piece - where is the problem occuring. Does the key switch that activates the emitter turn on randomly? Why is that? Does it happen one step back in the logic chain? Usually I find the most problems come from not setting switch settings correctly. For instance, if an output to a gate is set to "on/off" rather than "direction" it can seem to work but actually doesn't.

It does it in Play Mode; it works for a while but soon it's spiffing it's innards in the most inappropiate way...

And the switch that controls the odd emitter, controls also 2 other emitters... though it might be that the 3 emitters have interlapping emit spaces...
