Favorite MM levels. WARNING SPOILERS!

Archive: 165 posts

So, what is everyone's favorite MM created level's and areas? Obviously I couldn't put all the levels on the poll, so that's by area.

My favorite levels are:

Palace of Emmiters - Challenging, I like the look of the level, and the very ending to make the scoreboard appear was a GREAT finish.

Skulldozer - I enjoyed pelting it through the level, no chance for a rest, and still trying to get all the prizes.

Meerkat Kingdom - I like bouncing on the meerkats, I liked the dissolving bridge, diving down after the prize bubble, the Meerkat nightclub, and just the general feel of the level.

Overall, I think that the Savannah and The Wilderness were my favorite areas, just tipped by the Wilderness because of the difficulty of it, it was a good challenge.

Thanks, this one also has a spoiler warning on the title, so all should be good now.

EDIT: and thanks for moving this to the new section, whichever generous mod did that for me.

I havent played through all of them, but I chose the Wedding, based on the fact that its the only set of levels that wasn't put in as a cliche area. I know of little other games which contain an artistic/hippy/goth type zone.2008-10-26 22:11:00

I really enjoyed Skulldozer and the general temple area, but... my award goes to the Bunker. I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to hard stuff (MM9, Ninja Gaiden, Contra 4) and man did that stage not disappoint.2008-10-26 23:38:00

I have a love hate thing going on with that level. I do love it because it's hard and I love nothing more than a challenge at times, but in some places I kept dying again and again and it made me angry having to start again when near the end!! Sometimes it just felt like even though I was jumping over electric things I'd clip them the teeniest bit and die and it was infuriating. Which is why the garden is my favorite because it's all nice and happy and easy, haha.

I'm only through the first three themes so far, but I'd have to say The Savannah is top-notch in my opinion. Very surprised to see how difficult some of these levels are to be honest. Guess I'm glad it's challenging, right? Thought I'd fly through the story mode, but that just means my wife and I have found a true replacement since [finally] finishing up PixelJunk Monsters.2008-10-27 13:56:00

The last level of the Temples (when he makes the whole room disappear and "teleports" you to The WIlderness... WAS.... AMAZING! I stood there for a minute just thinking about what happen... truly the finishing touch on why I voted on the Temples...

Side note... the last boss! As short as the level is, oddly this boss fight goes down as one of the most memorable. The buildup to reaching this boss is spanned since the third level where you see his peering into the haunted house and across every other level where you see him "collecting" Then when you actually defeat him and the music starts and his little car starts breaking.. you can't help but feel sorry for him. Cute little fella ^.^

This.

While the MM levels have given me alot of great inspiration and motivation, the entire last world was pretty much "how am I ever going to match that?" at every corner.

Really brilliant and visually fun stuff.

I'm also quite fond of The Wedding and Canyon stages, surprisingly though, The Island stages failed to leave a big impression on me despite my love for that sort of scenery.

I could not agree more. And MM9 is just excellent, aint it? Though.... coulda been even HARDER, hah.

My own personal favorite level though was that one in the Wilderness..... it was..... uh..... *blank stare*, ok, I forget the name of it, but it was the one where all of the other characters are locked up and you must rescue them. The stage with the zillion moving bits.

It was a simple concept, but I thought it was very well done, as level design goes. Certainly fit the "mechanized" atmosphere of that zone.

Though I did have one stupid moment there, where I freed the dog, so he could open those little things that had a couple of prize bubbles in them, except that didnt work because his nose got caught on the trap door when it opened....... funny AND annoying at the same time!

It was kinda a toss-up between the Wedding and the Temple. Both of which had some very interesting levels in them. I have to say that the first level in the Wedding (mostly because of the song) and Skulldozer tipped the scale in the Wedding's favor.2008-11-16 09:20:00

I was stuck between Islands and Wilderness, but it came down to Islands.

Islands has a very fun and fairly challenging 1st level, and probably one of the most amazing levels in the game (3rd level). 2nd level is a little too frustrating though.

Wilderness has a hilariously fun 1st, a fairly easy 2nd assuming you aren't a crazy risktaker (yes, I said the Bunker was easy, including Ace), and the 3rd level BREATHES!

Well I finally got round to buying LBP, so I'm back posting here (while not playing it of course!) =]

So far I've completed the first three areas, and I have to say that to this point the best area for me, by far, is The Savannah... How anyone could not completely be immersed in the Meerkat Kingdom with that jazz music and then the nightclub... The atmosphere was crazily good!

I thought the Temples was by far the best area, especially the Dancers' Court. It was challenging without being sadistic, full of great eye candy and just had some of the most amazing platforming I've seen in the game. Great background music too. The Wedding Reception is also awesome.

My least favorite's got to be the Construction Site. Was the most frustrating one to clear without dying (including the Wilderness stages) because the boss is so luck based, and then there's that bit at the start where if you rush right into it after the "race" starts for some strange reason you end up having two fire logs rolling towards you at different speeds so that it's almost impossible to jump over both without dying.

The Metropolis in general felt kind of bleh.

It's quite difficult to think of the best levels. The Canyons offers some fun gameplay, however it's mostly from 'Boom Town', the first level and the others just seem to be a bit repetetive. The Temple has an amazing level, 'The Magician's temple', I particularly like the dissolve material ending, but 'Elephant Temple' is a bit plain and the dancers one goes on for too long. 'The Wilderness' is great in my oppinion. It offers fun levels with a reasonable legnth and difficulty, and all the levels have a good looking background. So that is the level I am voting for.
Just my oppinion though.

Hmmm... now that I've finally finished the game... some highlights were the Collector - the complexity of that fight was very impressive... the first level of the metropolis - some very interesting vehicle work in that one... the collectors lair was quite satisfying, and a whole lot more bearable than the bunker, which was just horrible, cheap and annoying... the magician's palace had some truly amazing emitter work... but the best area in my opinion is...

The Gardens. The art work and direction are of a very high quality. If you pay attention to it it's I think the only zone that uses stuff like foreground work or dynamic lighting. The later stages certainly have more technical stuff and advanced machinery, but in terms of direction and art, there is a whole lot to learn from the Gardens that's really easy to overlook as it has the "teaching levels" label.

The Wilderness. Mostly for Frozen Wasteland or whatever it's actually called... Something along those lines. Either way, the whole level just feels right. The music is just plain epic too... That, and I really love industrial/military environments. Plus there's the awesome rocket-dodging and the ice slide.2009-01-21 23:43:00

I enjoyed the Wilderness. It was so complex and large, it was challenging, and although the Bunker took me an hour to ace last night, the satisifacation of seeing that Play trophy appear, as you jump out of a complex spinny wheel onto a backwards conveyer belt. So many fantastic ideas made me feel...

Will.

I just love the temples. I mean, it incorporates some of the craziest stuff you'll ever see in LittleBIGPlanet. Sure, there aren't many enemies (except the snakes, if you count them), but it's all of the obstacles and smoothness of the levels that really draws me in. Truely my faves.

And maybe the Monster Pack.

The Islands are pure win. Because 1) I love Japan-themed stuff and 2) I think it has one of the best atmospheres. Particularly the first Islands level (I read the title as areas for some reason, not levels...) Oh, and Spline Rider! Best. Mini-level. Ever.2009-07-13 18:57:00

I'd have to say... The mines and meerkat kingdom!

Both combined new, fun visuals along with great gameplay and platforming.

I loved

The Wedding
-because of the music in first level
-and the Skulldozer level
-love the feel of each level overall

Serpent Shrine from The Canyons
-because I love the layout and the serpents going through the tunnels

The Wilderness
-because it makes for some good platforming
-and The Bunker with the hamster wheel of death is one of my favorites (and most played level that I stil go back and play on occasion)

Oh, great. I'm one of the only people who voted for The Metropolis.

Does nobody else like the race sequence? It was the funniest thing in LBP.

I Loved the Collector Boss the best because it has an Evil beggining and a Sad, Yet Happy End!

My Second favorite level was probably the Skulldozer, It goes so fast and its fun to run Mindlessly and fall into a Pit of gas xD

3rd is probably... Boom Town, I Always go there when im bored, Play online and punch noobs into bombs, or just blow them up with Trigger bombs xD Its quite fun, Even when not online I love blowing everything up

So many people prefer the wilderness over the gardens, IMO the gardens is the ABSOLUTE best cause everytime you play it, it reminds you of the first time you got LBP *Sniffle*

LOL good times.

I actually died inside and cried when I played introduction...for one reason because it started me with two sackpeople, so I got a trophy or 2 from Introduction...but also because the introduction was childish. Epic game, now, though. Made me preorder LBP2.2010-11-23 21:56:00

I have to go with Construction Site. I really liked the Metropolis in general -- the city theme, the awesome music, the characters (a chick with a giant wrench and an afro ninja? Yes please), and the first difficult boss. Emphasis on difficult.2010-11-29 22:04:00

My favourite levels would have to be The Skulldozer, Palace of Emitters and the final battle with the collector (I have no idea of the name)

I know the final battle is one of the hardest levels, but I got so excited when I aced it and got the Yellow Head costume, so that's why I like it

The wedding levels. Everything about the decorations/theme was tight. I loved it. The levels with the bumping car hydraulics were good too though. They made me laugh. Especially since they came with gangsta costumes.2011-02-16 05:11:00

Meerkat Kingdom is by far my most favourite level in the entire Story Mode. I just loved the theme to it, and the music really added to the charm the entire level had to it. The meerkats were adorable, and the nightclub was completely unexpected. The fact it's set at night adds to the things I like too, since I love levels set at night. 2011-02-16 17:40:00

I thought The Collector's Lair was one of the best levels MM had to offer. The hydraulic, mechanic look of the level and the complexity of things was really well done.

Furthermore, the Metropolis was one brilliant area, with all the bodyguards and gangsters very well spoofed.
