Run of the Dauntless

Run of the DauntlessGamePlaya3159
I made this level when I got the game. As I progressed through the tutorials, I added to the level. This is very apparent in the beginning. I kept adding to it taking what Ive learned from playing community levels.

Eventually, I decided that my level wasn't good compared to the fancy community levels so I stopped. Recently, I started adding to my level again and finished it. It doesn't have a storyline, really.

The level is linear but only forward. You MUST grab checkpoints as they become available to avoid getting stuck (if you are prone to dieing). The club is optional because I didn't know what to do with it.

I might make another Run of the Dauntless but I'm not sure what to do. Random puzzles and obstacle courses or one big one.

I played your level. It is clear that you have grown as a creator as you've made this level, it kind of tells a tale of your LBP upbringing lol. The first few sections are kind of bland, but there are a couple of parts later on that actually look quite good. I would say tips for the future are:

- Camera angles
Cameras are very useful tools. The default LBP camera is for some reason centred on sackboy, when for 90% of levels you want the camera positioned above sackboy because he's standing in a room or on a path where all the scenery is (shockingly) above the floor. I find the best use of cameras is to make them not track the player at all, and set one camera per room. This creates quite a nice effect.
- Sound design
When you complete a task, like putting a key next to a switch, it's nice to be reassured that you've completed it. Make a jingle play when you comple a task. Make a cracking sound when a door breaks open. Make a screeching noise when a metal platform is moving. Sound is a large part of the LBP experience.
-Theming/planning
You don't have to plan out your level completely before you start, but it is nice to have a theme in mind. Once you've picked a theme, stick with it, and stick with the same few materials the whole way through.

Don't give up creating! It make take a lot of time, but it is worth it.
Please F4F my levels which you can find this way

Hmm. I played through your level. There were a few good gameplay elements and some nice puzzles. One thing I think you could work on is making a decent environment for your level. Thor gave you some great advice on how to make a great level. Also, just search for "how to make a good level" on LBP. There are tons of levels out there that will give you basic hints and tips to make a great level.

Also, if you could check out my level in my sig below, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
