Sky Factory 2

Sky Factory 2steve_big_guns Grandad`s going to take you to see the Sky Factory, but first Grandma will take you to meet him. Just dont go wandering off now. After the first sky factory I felt like trying something new to keep it interesting. Visually it has become far more detailed thanks to aya042`s thermo glitch, with far more time taken to create its own unique visual style. Now its far more vibrant and beautiful but still retains the same fell as the first. The stories very simple as with the previous to keep focus on the gameplay as with such games as mario etc. Id like to thank all the people that tested and came into edit mode while creating to give feedback on my ideas. Having people to share your ideas with makes creating so much easier and the end result is always far better. I recomend you try it in 1 player for the best experience, as it lags a little online. I hope you enjoy it . | 2010-08-26 17:57:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
I played the level and here's what I thought. In Sky Factory 1, I liked the mechanical feel to it and the visuals were pretty good and so was the gameplay. In Sky Factory 2, it's the next level of fun. The visuals were much better in this one plus I loved how you gave it more of an island and jungle theme with the beautiful trees, waterfall and more. Some gameplay was the same as in the first but there were also some new gameplay in this one. I also loved the airship you go to at the end and even though there's not much story to it, it's still a lot of fun showing that sackboy will wander off. Overall, I gave this one :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3. Thanks for letting me interview you by the way | 2010-08-26 18:19:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
I'm off to play this right now! Hopefully it will be even more amazing then the first one thanks to the use of the thermo glitch...! | 2010-08-26 18:50:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
I played this few days ago (: Awesome level - 5 stars and a lovely heart! | 2010-08-26 19:12:00 Author: Unknown User |
This level was great! The visuals were wow...amazing Steve. Your detail was so thought out and i loved the way you used different decorations and stickers to make the level feel so real! The gameplay ideas are fun! I know you worked hard on this and all that hard work has paid off merdy butt! 5 stars and a heart! THIS is a big Merd Steve | 2010-08-26 19:15:00 Author: Fenderjt Posts: 1969 |
Great level dude you made an awesome platformer. The visuals are great and you managed to show the people which your style is. The platforms where great and clever. I liked the way you made the characters but somehow i think there's to much lack of story and i have found several problems in you level the 1st time i played it i managed to get out of it by jumping while grabbing the platform and as i played it like 10 times to beat the high score, last time i played the wasn't scoreboard and ship at the end. Overall i rated it 5* and tagged artistic. Good job! | 2010-08-26 19:34:00 Author: ferrrch Posts: 429 |
Somethings may not appear. The game has issues with things being emmited. As the entire level is emitted, there will be a few problems on occansion. | 2010-08-26 19:39:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
That... was... a perfect combination of eye catching visuals and fun and unique gameplay to from one of the best levels I have played to date! The level of detail was outstanding and I have never seen so many beautifully placed decorations before! The fact that you could fit all of that in one level made me go ! Lots of bouncing! Some of the best bouncers and cannons and whatnot I have seen lately! Most of them you have to try a few times and your head is shaking a mile a minute! These simply shot sackboy to his destination like they should and they did it in style! The only thing that I had trouble with was the first cog, It took Luos and I a little exploring to figure out we had to grab it, so maybe a sign with a grab switch on it or some other indicator. There was also one other thing, some of the launch pads would launch me much higher than I had to go and I almost escaped the level one (I think). Otherwise, a true gem of a level! :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3! Great job, hope to seen part three soon! | 2010-08-26 19:41:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |

wow cool, I have a policy for you SteveBigGuns if you create a level I will play it lol I will give you the feedback in a second ok. | 2010-08-26 20:56:00 Author: Arnald23 Posts: 1843 |
Hey Steve, here's what I thought of your level. -The amount of detail in this level is staggering, and I've played alot of levels. These sort of visuals fully immerse you in the game, you must have spent a very long time at them. Now, you've ruined me for other games. They stick out like a sore thumb! -The level itself had alot of bounce pads, but they never once got repetitive. But, at the start of the level, I got stuck for a second. I didn't know you could grab the cogs. But the level moved very fluidly with some great gameplay mechanisms. Nice job. I dont know if this is true but it felt like there was some zephyr valley influence. Just a little. -I don't know if the music doesnt or does fit the level. It's the same with mine, it feels right in some areas, but in others it doesn't. But thats just a little nitpick. All in all. A really great level! How do you create these? lol. I hearted and gave it 5 stars. | 2010-08-26 21:45:00 Author: AgentBanana Posts: 511 |

I admit I have enjoyed SteveBigGuns levels very much. He is a expert creator in the world of LBP (in my opinion I'd put him 2nd in the top 5 creators). I loved the first Sky Factory it blended a small story and platforming with amazing detail. I have been waiting soooooo long for a sequel and after a few months me and everyone else on LBP got their wish Sky Factory 2! I got up turned LBP on and looked at the "Highest Rated" section of LBP and almost overnight Sky Factory 2 randomly appeared there! I was to eager to wait so I put my levels aside and played it! And to be honest I was stunned! the level of detail in this was astounding I thought I fell into a mix of Faith_Rip and Poms's levels combined! It had a fun platform and adventure mix with old lady's falling asleep! The prizes might be a little to easy to get but all in all my favorite level I've played in my years with LBP! I give it a :star::star::star::star::star: and a<3 | 2010-08-26 22:55:00 Author: spaceben567 Posts: 6 |
I'm enjoying this one. I like getting shot up into the air a lot. It's fun. Is there a reason you use two pistons on those things that shoot you up? It seems like you've got two on most of them. I just started making a stuff like those and don't know the best way to go about it. Also I can't figure out why you've got the first speech bubbles timed. On consecutive playthroughs they can pop up at the first jump there. And the one that shows the house and z,z,z's would be better a little further back, near the bench, as it can occur during a jump also. | 2010-08-26 23:07:00 Author: MofoSuperVillain Posts: 88 |
I'll try not to drool on the level but it does look veeeery nice, It lagged in a couple of spots but not in any areas where it affected gameplay I liked the wall grab mechanism that threw you up in the air that was fun. It was a bit tricky to know which way to go on the first airship nothing a bit of exploring didn't sort out though and it was eye candy 5 :star: and a heart all the way | 2010-08-26 23:25:00 Author: DayFul Posts: 26 |
This is such a gorgeous level, I can easily imagine sack people living out their lives in the world you created. It had a decent length as far as levels go but, for me, it wasn't nearly long enough because I didn't really want to reach the scoreboard, I just wanted to roam around exploring. Five stars, a heart & a Vehicles tag! | 2010-08-27 03:22:00 Author: ApeCheese Posts: 369 |
Thanks for the great feeback everyone. I really appreciate it . I left it up to the player to figure out you have to grab the first cog as visualhint would ruin the look and there not much else you can do to prgress apart from jumping out and tryingto grab it. The zzz trigger will be moved onto the checkpoint area on the ship when i edit the level next. | 2010-08-27 14:10:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
like the comment i left on your level comments.. Epic. Though the gameplay was not hard, it was enough to keep me entertained from begin to end, it was solid and the way the surroundings moved accordingly was a nice touch. the welcoming visuals took my breath away, so bright.. so vibrant.. it almost felt like watching some class S anime. Using the bear-body (with the aid of the compressiontool )as leafs for the tree's was brilliant.. Ive seen it being used before.. but mostly with dollheads.. and.. imho that isnt as nice looking as what you did. I might even use the technique myself as there arent many decent leaf materials that make me go wow! (if you dont mind!) would you mind telling me what parts you demitted, and what parts you thermo-glitched? Steve, good job you did here man! Much grande kundo's and respect! 5 stars, and a heart Cheers, ex-grumpy luos! | 2010-08-27 18:02:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
too bad that I couldn't rate :star::star::star::star::star::star: .... | 2010-08-27 18:56:00 Author: Unknown User |
I love the first Sky Factory and this sequel (or should I say prequel?) is fantastic. Yes, the level was lighter on gameplay than the first, but you still kept players jumping and swinging consistently. And when you did give us a brief moment to pause and take a look around... wow. The visuals are gorgeous, simply amazing. I'm a fan of the entire art style, but I've never been able to pull it off so beautifully! I loved the design of the ships and I even took some notes to help with future levels that I'm making. Beautiful level! Great job! | 2010-08-28 00:13:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |
Was blown away by this level, the visuals were like nothing Iv'e seen before in LBP. Gameplay was ok, relatively easy, but overall very fun. Its all about the visuals for me with this level and I couldn't get enough of it. Every new gameplay area I was just stood looking at what was around me. 5 Stars and a heart. | 2010-08-28 11:49:00 Author: Malhat06 Posts: 107 |
Awesome visuals again Steve. I wish I could do stuff like that. Although I wouldn't use the thermo glitch to do it to be honest. I just don't like or trust glitches like that. It does make it very laggy in places, especially near the end, but it's great work all the same. Brilliant use of decorations as always. Well done. | 2010-08-28 11:54:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |

I might even use the technique myself as there arent many decent leaf materials that make me go wow! (if you dont mind!) would you mind telling me what parts you demitted, and what parts you thermo-glitched? I though hard about how I wanted the visual design of the level to feel. I decided to try to give it the bright feel of a mario or donkey kong game but with its own unique style. Im glad you liked the tree. I had the idea a very long time ago but never used it. Ive always appreciated the unique and highly detailed visual style of anime films and games. Im really happy with the final look and fell of my level. It took a lot of trial and error as a lot of ideas were scrapped as they didnt feel right. Everything past where you see the first house on the windmil island is emitted, with everything before that being demitted. All the emitted objects are detroyed apart from the waterfall sectin and the cave at the end. It took 3 days straight to get it to work smoothly, but its worth it to see it all running smoothly in one level. I love the first Sky Factory and this sequel (or should I say prequel?) is fantastic. Yes, the level was lighter on gameplay than the first, but you still kept players jumping and swinging consistently. And when you did give us a brief moment to pause and take a look around... wow. I loved the design of the ships and I even took some notes to help with future levels that I'm making. Beautiful level! Great job! Its a sequel, as grandad doesnt know you already seen part of the sky factory, but it kind of works as a prequel to those who havent played the first. I had a lot of fun with ships. It bring back memories of when I used to make flying space ships out of lego. Was blown away by this level, the visuals were like nothing Iv'e seen before in LBP. Gameplay was ok, relatively easy, but overall very fun. Its all about the visuals for me with this level and I couldn't get enough of it. Every new gameplay area I was just stood looking at what was around me. . I didnt really take difficulty into consideration when making the level. I tweaked and layed out the gameplay to make it as fun as possible Awesome visuals again Steve. I wish I could do stuff like that. Although I wouldn't use the thermo glitch to do it to be honest. I just don't like or trust glitches like that. It does make it very laggy in places, especially near the end, but it's great work all the same. Brilliant use of decorations as always. Well done. Theres a little lag at the cave section near the end as it uses a lot of spot lights for rays of light and to give colour to the crystals. Theres no gameplay in that section so I wasnt too concerned. | 2010-08-28 17:41:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
I have a really soft spot for steampunk and floating islands, I did really enjoy every bit so much little details that i alway enjoy seeing in anyone levels. It did feel a little bit on the rails in parts, maybe give player control over timing or aiming more would help. ps im being more picking with it being you ^^; | 2010-08-28 19:52:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |

I played this level a few days ago. I absolutely loved it! I think the one part that was awe-inspiring to me was the part with the spinning gears with the platforms attached. It was so amazing and beautiful! I gave it 5 stars and a heart. ( After playing this one, it made me want to go back and play the first Sky Factory again!) | 2010-08-29 19:34:00 Author: ShamgarBlade Posts: 1010 |
While I think the 1st was the best, I was still blown away by this one. The scenery was just brilliant. Right to the every inch. There can't be any complaints. The gameplay was fun, as was the 1st, but not as good. I did have a "spark" throughout the level. It was a comfortable feeling where I took in the visuals while blasting through the level. I was speeding past things that obviously took a long time to create. While this was a waste, it felt very cool. Most levels with great scenery usually slow down a bit, just to take it in. With the fast paced gameplay, that wasn't on my "to-do list" :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 | 2010-08-29 20:54:00 Author: talbot-trembler Posts: 1114 |
Wow! The visuals looked brilliant and the gameplay is a lot of fun too. The sky ships looked breathtaking and it is well decorated with stickers and decorations. It is all puzzle solving too as I'm trying to figure out what to do next and that makes this level even more fun and challenging. The end of the level looks like we'll be seeing the third "Sky Factory" level so that's I gotta see. Great job. 5 :star:s and a <3 | 2010-08-30 00:15:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
the sticker work in this was insane. i was almost mad at the level for looking so good and playing so well lol. it feels like when azure palace was new and the cries in the wind, thew scope, the fake water, and the lighting made me think "this is what i should be doing" - great stuff. all the tried and tested launch mechanics and platforming worked superbly. somehow on one of my plays we skipped a whole section, but have no idea how. it's like i launched into a checkpoints sensor radius way above and got corner killed. it didn't matter though. i think you nailed the steam punk sky pirate feel in a whole new way here.instant classic. my favorite bit - the little jumping dog in the tiny bg town | 2010-08-30 01:17:00 Author: Unknown User |

With the fast paced gameplay, that wasn't on my "to-do list" Ha yes. The first was very fast paced, which meant that if it was to be a true sequel, then it would need to have the same feeling. I wanted this level to be a step up in visuals design and detail. The first maxed out the thermometer and yet is the same length and has far less detail. Luckily the thermo glitch was found just after the first was made which allowed me to create something close to what I imagined, but still being long enough. . The end of the level looks like we'll be seeing the third "Sky Factory" level so that's I gotta see. probably in LBP2. I like the theme a lot, but it depends on when I have the time. somehow on one of my plays we skipped a whole section, but have no idea how. it's like i launched into a checkpoints sensor radius way above and got corner killed. it didn't matter though. Ill have to test it out in edit mode. Everything above that section is emitted and was made in seperate levels. | 2010-09-04 17:03:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |

ShamgarBlade took my son and I through both of these levels earlier today, and they are fantastic! There were three of us, and my boy's only five, so we died a lot... but we laughed and gadded the whole way. Highlights were the airship, the cannons, the attention to detail, and... well.. everything. I especially enjoyed the cute story with the grandparents, and if Grandpa is fixing to take us through some luminescent caves on the airship, then sign me up! Really incredible stuff! | 2010-09-05 03:08:00 Author: SpeedyMcKnuckles Posts: 331 |
Sky Factory 2 is amazing. The first one also but Sky Factory 2 is just excellent! :star::star::star::star::star: | 2010-09-05 16:35:00 Author: Unknown User |

Ill have to test it out in edit mode. Everything above that section is emitted and was made in seperate levels. Ah I remember that day. I think it was the section before the lava falls when it happened. Ill try to recreate the situation later on. Btw, fantastic level. So much detail...its just rediculous how good you make your levels look. I also think your the king of decoration usage right now...but Ill take that thrown one day | 2010-09-05 17:51:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |

I loved this level so much! One thing i noticed- i managed to hop on the rail near the beggining of the level and fell through the decorations to the level floor. What were those vine things?
