10 minute presentation by Spaff at Gamescom

Heres a new (I think) video of Spaff doing a 10 minute presentation of some story levels. The creatinator level has been shown before, but the bumblebee one is new, and shows off some particle effect type smoke things and a great looking cave. He plays a little pool mini game to

That is awesome, loving the pool game.
One thing that I did think of while watching that video for some reason was a rockband level. The guitar controllers work just like a dualshock so it would be possible.

I love that peggle like physics will be so easy to create, that pool game probably wouldn't take to long to make the basics. Level creation just seems so much easier now.
What spaff said, 5 minutes to make it work the rest to make it brilliant, it looks like that could be true.

Awesome video, that pool minigame is insane. I'm disappointed about the game not having REAL top-down, but I guess they had to make it camera tricks, for the sake of keeping LBP2's gameplay the same as LBP.2010-08-26 15:24:00

Syroc is correct. the "real liquid" effect is a new dissolve option, and it disappears eventually, but you can keep dripping your"liquid" for a puddle effect.2010-08-26 15:41:00

The pool game looks great. Am I wrong or did the pool balls actually roll? It's hard to tell because of the small screen but I got the feeling they did. If so, how is that possible?

Another observation I made is when the ball went down the hole it looked very realistic. Looks like those layer-movers will be more powerful than I expected.

I feel sorry for the Fluffy Hi-tech theme.

A few of it's gameplay elements(caterpillar, flying insect) have been redone for a different theme

That pool game: WOW, thats insane! looks so much fun and shows how good the creation tools are. Also the sackboy costume that flashed was awesome and same with the particle effects and just everything! Thanks alot for the video! 2010-08-26 19:09:00

Hmm... they've spoke about connecting the Controlinator to Sackbots alot

I wonder if there's a quick-switch to link the same controls as usual to it, instead of having the link it all up manually?

It says in blurry small text: By mr/dr higgabottom or whatever the old flat dude's name is. So I think it is before you repair the spaceship.

@Fishrock123 Actually no, in other videos you are in the spaceship in the earlier level patches, and the level patch with the cave is after those, meaning it's after the crash. Also, Higginbotham is the curator for all the levels in the Cosmo, so his name being there doesn't change anything.2010-08-26 21:53:00

That bee level looks great. Judging from the enemies here (johnee's shaver / microphone wasp), and the enemies in the caterpillar climb which are both in fact controlled by sackbots, I presume that when we get these as prizes they will be sackbot-less. All we need to do then is wire a control pattern into a sackbot which in turn is hardwired into the vehicle (i.e. unable to leave) should we want to make an enemy or friendly npc vehicle or leave it as is so we can control it ourselves.

..and the gun turret sounds brilliant.. now I wonder who made that... obviously not johnee anyway!

The bee can grab onto things (and there doesn't seem to be any hooks)
Right at the start of the pool game, there's a very subtle screen wipe.
One of the pool balls shifts into a further layer, and drops down the chute. hmmm

Using material tweakers, you should be able to turn the stickiness on/off.... So, yeah.

which in turn suggests that you will be able to use any combination of anything already in LBP to make a vehicle! a conch shell jet fighter or a beach ball car!

I think the very dynamic burst of goo in the "Fight of the Bumblebee" level was amazing. It looks very realistic. The pool mini game was also incredibly well made. It's amazing to see all the new mechanics, but I can't wait to see what the community dreams up. I'm definitely going to make a chess game!2010-08-29 01:45:00
