10 minute presentation by Spaff at Gamescom

Heres a new (I think) video of Spaff doing a 10 minute presentation of some story levels. The creatinator level has been shown before, but the bumblebee one is new, and shows off some particle effect type smoke things and a great looking cave. He plays a little pool mini game to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkXOrw16sic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkXOrw16sic | 2010-08-26 10:57:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
That is awesome, loving the pool game. One thing that I did think of while watching that video for some reason was a rockband level. The guitar controllers work just like a dualshock so it would be possible. | 2010-08-26 11:21:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |

SPAFF xD What a legend ^___^ | 2010-08-26 11:55:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
The pool game looks so cool! The top-down camera trick looks a lot more powerful than I had thought. | 2010-08-26 12:04:00 Author: Otune Posts: 131 |
Wow, those gas/water/whatever effects are great! @ robotiod: Wow yeah, didn't think about that. Man, there's gonna be a whole slew of them. x_X Shame I have a ps2 guitar. | 2010-08-26 12:06:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Did he say... upside down gravity... and... was that... actual global animated liquid?? O.O | 2010-08-26 12:53:00 Author: lyrradXOX Posts: 285 |
The liquid/particle/wnhatever-they-were looked awesome! And that pool game... wow. | 2010-08-26 13:25:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
I love that peggle like physics will be so easy to create, that pool game probably wouldn't take to long to make the basics. Level creation just seems so much easier now. What spaff said, 5 minutes to make it work the rest to make it brilliant, it looks like that could be true. | 2010-08-26 13:28:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
Pool Mini GAME ! This is going to be awesome ! | 2010-08-26 14:31:00 Author: SackBoy98 Posts: 588 |
Did he say in Create Mode that the Sackboy walks along the background? O_O | 2010-08-26 14:32:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
Spaff is so cute:3 | 2010-08-26 14:36:00 Author: ExplosiveCheddar Posts: 978 |
Oh man, I'm bugging out about the pool mini game. Great find! | 2010-08-26 14:47:00 Author: siberian_ninja15 Posts: 444 |
Did he say in Create Mode that the Sackboy walks along the background? O_O No, he said sackboy would be able to walk o the pool table edges. | 2010-08-26 15:02:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
The water-y effect is, if I'm not mistaken, one of the new dissolve options, called splat. | 2010-08-26 15:10:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Awesome video, that pool minigame is insane. I'm disappointed about the game not having REAL top-down, but I guess they had to make it camera tricks, for the sake of keeping LBP2's gameplay the same as LBP. | 2010-08-26 15:24:00 Author: edster962 Posts: 170 |
Is it november yet? what about now? Now? | 2010-08-26 15:32:00 Author: Mkwone Posts: 104 |
Syroc is correct. the "real liquid" effect is a new dissolve option, and it disappears eventually, but you can keep dripping your"liquid" for a puddle effect. | 2010-08-26 15:41:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
That pool game is so sharp looking. Can't wait for the community to get their hands on this thing and go wild. | 2010-08-26 15:43:00 Author: Unknown User |
I might create every game I have on my mobile phone, but better. That would show those crappy mobile phone games. Mwahahaha. | 2010-08-26 16:30:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
I think this video made me a vegtable. That is all. | 2010-08-26 16:44:00 Author: acdramon Posts: 332 |
O.o <----- My reaction to all of this... | 2010-08-26 16:49:00 Author: moonwire Posts: 1627 |
The poll game is very impressive! The particle effects look cracking too. | 2010-08-26 17:09:00 Author: chimpskylark Posts: 335 |
The pool game looks great. Am I wrong or did the pool balls actually roll? It's hard to tell because of the small screen but I got the feeling they did. If so, how is that possible? Another observation I made is when the ball went down the hole it looked very realistic. Looks like those layer-movers will be more powerful than I expected. | 2010-08-26 17:15:00 Author: hm83 Posts: 69 |
I feel sorry for the Fluffy Hi-tech theme. A few of it's gameplay elements(caterpillar, flying insect) have been redone for a different theme | 2010-08-26 17:43:00 Author: Unknown User |
oh my GOOD GOD! jesus lord! what can you say.... | 2010-08-26 18:53:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
That pool game: WOW, thats insane! looks so much fun and shows how good the creation tools are. Also the sackboy costume that flashed was awesome and same with the particle effects and just everything! Thanks alot for the video! | 2010-08-26 19:09:00 Author: Bluetoes1 Posts: 98 |
That pool game might make my parents start playing LBP again. | 2010-08-26 19:15:00 Author: GreyMRP Posts: 588 |
Hmm... they've spoke about connecting the Controlinator to Sackbots alot I wonder if there's a quick-switch to link the same controls as usual to it, instead of having the link it all up manually? | 2010-08-26 19:17:00 Author: Nurolight Posts: 918 |
I'm wondering what theme the cave will be in. Eve's asylum? | 2010-08-26 19:18:00 Author: Jedi_1993 Posts: 1518 |
he said it use to be called "controllinators" @ 1:26 or was it a mistake?cuz they are talking about the cakinator | 2010-08-26 19:47:00 Author: SackBoy98 Posts: 588 |
@Jedi_1993 Actually, if you looked at the bottom left of the screen at one point, it said the Cosmos. You probably go there after your spaceship crashes. | 2010-08-26 19:47:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |
Is that a Checkpoint following Sackboy ??????? @ 7:16 Cool if it is a following checkpoint | 2010-08-26 19:54:00 Author: SackBoy98 Posts: 588 |
@Jedi_1993 Actually, if you looked at the bottom left of the screen at one point, it said the Cosmos. You probably go there after your spaceship crashes. It says in blurry small text: By mr/dr higgabottom or whatever the old flat dude's name is. So I think it is before you repair the spaceship. | 2010-08-26 20:13:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
No, he said sackboy would be able to walk o the pool table edges. Oh I see | 2010-08-26 20:57:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
Wow, the dynamic textures are going to be useful. | 2010-08-26 21:08:00 Author: Pattington_Bear Posts: 777 |
Did you noticed that when sackboy hits fire with creatinator he don't lose it? I'm pretty sure you loose Jetpack if you hit fire. | 2010-08-26 21:19:00 Author: Unknown User |
Did you noticed that when sackboy hits fire with creatinator he don't lose it? I'm pretty sure you loose Jetpack if you hit fire. And the Paintinator. That would be a simple yet awesome upgrade. | 2010-08-26 21:21:00 Author: Rottinghouse Posts: 143 |

Did you noticed that when sackboy hits fire with creatinator he don't lose it? I'm pretty sure you loose Jetpack if you hit fire. Noticed before i watched Pool minigame. WoaH!!! This Minigame rocks i think there will be more se great minigames. | 2010-08-26 21:31:00 Author: Unknown User |
he said it use to be called "controllinators" @ 1:26 or was it a mistake?cuz they are talking about the cakinator I think he meant to say "Creatinator". All these -inator power-ups are gonna get confusing! | 2010-08-26 21:39:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |
i really think MM need to rethink putting 'inator' on the end of everything | 2010-08-26 21:42:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
@Fishrock123 Actually no, in other videos you are in the spaceship in the earlier level patches, and the level patch with the cave is after those, meaning it's after the crash. Also, Higginbotham is the curator for all the levels in the Cosmo, so his name being there doesn't change anything. | 2010-08-26 21:53:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |
I think he meant to say "Creatinator". All these -inator power-ups are gonna get confusing! okinator XD | 2010-08-26 22:12:00 Author: SackBoy98 Posts: 588 |
Thanks for the link, adding it to the list! | 2010-08-27 02:53:00 Author: schm0 Posts: 1239 |
That bee level looks great. Judging from the enemies here (johnee's shaver / microphone wasp), and the enemies in the caterpillar climb which are both in fact controlled by sackbots, I presume that when we get these as prizes they will be sackbot-less. All we need to do then is wire a control pattern into a sackbot which in turn is hardwired into the vehicle (i.e. unable to leave) should we want to make an enemy or friendly npc vehicle or leave it as is so we can control it ourselves. ..and the gun turret sounds brilliant.. now I wonder who made that... obviously not johnee anyway! | 2010-08-27 11:33:00 Author: croissantbuncake Posts: 572 |
he said you can shoot water OMG real waters! | 2010-08-27 11:39:00 Author: flamingemu Posts: 1872 |
Things to notice: In the caverns. the dissolving goo pools in areas and can spray upwards. The bee can grab onto things (and there doesn't seem to be any hooks) Right at the start of the pool game, there's a very subtle screen wipe. One of the pool balls shifts into a further layer, and drops down the chute. hmmm | 2010-08-27 12:36:00 Author: Cheezy WEAPON Posts: 283 |
I can hazard a guess at the bumblebee grab ability: it's paws are turned sticky. Alex Evans said it was possible to make any material sticky. | 2010-08-27 13:56:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |

Spaff! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3598/3408488715_74d8d9cc4f.jpg?v=0 That is all. | 2010-08-27 22:23:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Looks cool. I love how you can adjust the sway with a gyroscope. It just makes it look more natural. | 2010-08-28 02:00:00 Author: Sack-Jake Posts: 1153 |

One of the things I was thinking of doing with lbp2 was a pool game with the new tools. I won't bother now lol | 2010-08-29 00:27:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
I think the very dynamic burst of goo in the "Fight of the Bumblebee" level was amazing. It looks very realistic. The pool mini game was also incredibly well made. It's amazing to see all the new mechanics, but I can't wait to see what the community dreams up. I'm definitely going to make a chess game! | 2010-08-29 01:45:00 Author: Stoicrow Posts: 276 |
Great, another new LBP2 video. Why can't November come faster? Also: Spaff = Awesome. | 2010-08-29 05:57:00 Author: VnGamer234 Posts: 111 |
