Character enhancement idea- magic hilt

Here's my idea- make a character enhancement that the player can customize. We have the creatinator, which is already bursting with possibility. So give us a hand held item that we can customize too. Give us the hilt (the part that someone holds on to), and that will remain the same every time it used. But then give us the ability to do 2 things with it:

1. Les us design the weapon/tool. Knowing the creativity of the LBP community, we'd see an endless amount of possibilities here. People could design weapons: swords, hammers, axes, shields, guns, bazookas. Players could design tools: pick-axes, hammers, flashlights, shovels. And then theres hundreds of other strange possibilities- paintbrushes, mops, umbrellas, canes. People could use decoration, materials, and stickers to design these.

2. Allow us to decide how they work. For instance, will the sword only deal damage if the player swings the sack boys arms. Or, use R1 to fire a bullet, or turn on the flash light, or to swing a pick axe. You could also choose from a number of ways that the sack boy would hold them. For instance:
1. Just like the panitinator
2. With two hands
3. With the left hand as apposed to the right. etc etc

A lot of people have had similar ideas to this, and I think its a shame that it will probably never be implemented. Many people would be able to put this to good use, but I guess the creatinator or sticking something to the sackbots is about as close as we're getting!2010-08-24 00:04:00

Great idea , i think this on it's own fully worked out would easily be worth my money as a DLC . Unless ofcourse MM puts it in LBP2 but that probably wont happen .To think all the things you could do with this , maybe you could determine what projectile a gun shoots or maybe you could make the hilt an trigger . And maybe when somebody makes an inventory system you can have an whole assortment of weapons at you all the time !2010-08-24 00:05:00

Exactly!! And i was thinking that you could even use it to cast spells with a wand, and say that when you press R1, you sack boy swings his arm. MM would have to do a little programming for the movements, but it would be pretty cool. And that R1 could make an emitter emit. It would be SO AWESOME.2010-08-24 00:11:00

something like this would be pure win (^-^)
my whole LBP life i wanted a sword or axe power up!
but to make things friendly be nice if the sword would just
knock the other players over, like how the paint gun just pushs them back
would be mainly used to kill sackbots etc. *mew

Edit: I think it could work, but would be hard to implement, making a truly unique weapon would be no simple task, especially melee ones, as for tools... that may be **** near impossible, I would love this to be a feature, as I have been wanting it for ages, but if it wasn't relatively easy to use, it would be one hgell of a hassle creating a weapon/tool.

I do love the flashlight idea though, we need this.

Use a Collision Switch. (The Powerup HAS to be Magne-Key friendly!

this sounds like an entire powerup system waiting to happen. It seems easy to make if all MM does is make the thing constantly emit the thing that would make it unique so that it would be permanent for that hilt. If the did it that way flashlights, swords, and guns can become completely possible.
this is all assuming that the get this Idea themselves, or look at the forums here
