Famous Paintings?

Archive: 15 posts

Hi, all!
I have an idea for one of my levels, but need some art-history help.

Does anyone know of a famous painting with three people that can be imitated by taking a picture of properly-dressed sack-folk?

For instance, I'm making the Mona LiSack and Sackboy Gothic with one and two people respectively. I just need to fing a painting with three. Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Salvador Dali
Pablo Picasso
Vincent Van Gogh

Those are very famous Painters.. Google their pictures.
Also show your pictures on this forum when you are done, they sound unique.

Thanks, TheChannel. I've been looking through those artists and several others, but I can't seem to find what I need.

I could also try with four people instead of three. It wouldn't hurt the level.

The closest thing I've come up with thus far is those multi-colored Marilyn Monroe pics by Warhol. Those seem far too contemporary, as the level involves a castle.

Also, how would I go abut getting pics from the PS3 to the computer?

How about The Three Graces by Raphael? Other artists have done this too, most notably Rubens.

Edouard Manet's Luncheon on the Grass is one with three in the foreground and a fourth in the background.

To get your Pictures to PS3 is easier than it sound. (To me anyway)

take a picture in LBP using a picture taking thing.
Go to the picture and press Square.
You should see something like "Export to Hardrive"
Click it and it will save to the your hardrive.
Take a flash stick and insert into your PS3.
Go to the PS Menu (XMB) and go to your pictures section and find your picture.
Press square and choose copy to your flash stick.

Saftly remove the flash stick and get a Police escort to your computer to make sure the contents dont get leaked to the media.
Insert your flash stick into your computer.
Open the flash stick and move the picture to your desktop.

Go to www.tinypic.com
Click upload or something like that.
Find your pic and put in security code.
You will 4 codes... click the one that says its for forums and image boards.

Copy and paste that anywhere you want in the forums and there you go.

Thanatos989, The Three Graces would be great, but I'm trying to make the pictures by posing the Sackfolk in-game. Is there a way to turn a Sackboy so he's facing away from the camera?

Thanks, TheChannel! I'll try it as soon as the Mona Lisack is done...

Okay, here's a pic of the Mona LiSack:

The real Mona Lisa' dress shows more neck and shoulder. Does anyone know of a good costume I could use, even if it's DLC?

I've decicded to make the third picture Warhol's Marilyn prints. I've been playing with stickers on glass with lights behind them and I think it'd be fun to make. I no longer care that it's anachronistic.

Steakmo, I'd love to do that painting, but I think in LBP those poses would be impossible. Maybe in LBP2...

Thanks, TheChannel. I was worried about it not being recognizable, but my seven-yaer-old daughter saw it for the first time and said: "Hey! It's the Mona Lisa!"

I just got a fortune cookie that says: "With a little more hard work, your creativity takes you to great heights." I guess I should get to work on the next one...Mister Fortune-Cookie-Writer has never led me wrong before!

--Several Hours Later--
I just finished Sackboy Gothic, and I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

Tell me what you think, please.

That's pretty nice, Bremnen. How did you make it? Stickers, materials, etc?2010-09-06 18:54:00

I went through my copy of The Story of Art by Gombrich and these are all the paintings that feature three people in its pages:

Fra Angelico - The annunciation
Raphael - Pop Leo X with two cardinals
Giorgione - The tempest
Titian - Pope Paul III with Alessandro and Ottavio Farnese
Tintoretto - St George and the dragon
Diego Velazquez - The water-seller of Seville
Jean Chardin - Le benedicite
Manet - The balcony
Pierre Bonnard - At the table

There are also lots of individual panes of the Sistine chapel ceiling that have 3 people in them if that's helpful.

Even though it has 4 people you could use The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli, everyone would recognise that.

Thanks, Ayneh! Pope Leo X looks possible, as does The Balcony.

The Birth of Venus I could do in create mode. If sack-people are flying I'd rather not have the jet-pack's contrail behind them...

When LBP2 comes out I want to try to use Sackbots to stage The Last Supper. I was thinking of trying to do it as a series of stickers that would be placed next to each other, but I don't know... It wouldn't go in this level, I just want to try it. I guess once I had it together I could take another picture of it.

Thanks a million!
