DLC is linked to your online account, so all that you bought you can re-download later on a new PS3 as long as you log in with your old account.

As for save data, unless you backed up your data, I don't think there's a way.
(I did hear a methog to revive it fr a bit to back up some stuff, I'll see if I can find it.)

Hope that helps!

Sure. Same thing happened to me, but it's kinda painful. First of all, you need to decide whether to get a new PS3 or not, 'cause repaired YLOD'd ones don't tend to last for long.

Secondly, you'll need to decide if you want to fix it yourself, or pay someone else to. If the former, check out this page (http://www.yellowlight.co.uk/fix.php), and if the latter, you'll have to find a company in your local area who will do it.

Won't work I'm afraid. The hard drives are all the same size (the 2.5" variety that are typically used in laptops), but the data is encrypted in such a way that it will only work in the PS3 in which it was formatted. If you attempt to put it in another PS3, it'll just ask if you want to reformat it.

So the only way to get your data back is to repair the old PS3. You can try phoning Sony, but they typically won't repair them - they'll just send you a refurbished one which won't help, since you'll have the same problem with the data incompatibility.

So if you want to keep your data, the only options are to fix it yourself, or send it to a third party company who'll do it for you. The YLOD is almost always the same problem, which is a degredation of the solder which attaches the graphics chip to the motherboard.

Don't worry about that. That'll still be there.

I did it the other way 'round, i.e. get the new one first, then fix the old one. Once they're fixed, they don't tend to last long, so you pretty much just want to run it for long enough to do the transfer.

When you come to do the transfer, make sure you make a profile backup first, because the Game Data profile won't transfer correctly.

Well that depends did you back up your data on a memory stick? and to be able to keep DLC (Downloadable Content) without having to rebuy them you can get it back if you get another PS3 and you go back to your Playstation Network Account and retrieve your Account but you can only get back in if you remember your Password. Hope you can get it back.

It costs $150 to fix it but it is better to just but the PS3 Slim because i got mine fixed and the blue-ray drive went out and it wouldn't play any games so it is just better to get a PS3 Slim.
