SteamFunkkn0cked-0ut Steamfunk takes place on a rusty scrapyard, its my latest and last littlebigplanet 1 project and I hope you can enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it! The idea behind this project was unlike my other levels, to create a more fun and less serious level that has a bit more cartoony and media molecule style in it. Which means no extra layers, instead I used Alot of thin layers - I Hope I managed to do that and that you can enjoy my level. http://i33.tinypic.com/dmvew8.png http://i33.tinypic.com/5xie9.jpg | 2010-08-23 08:18:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |
Looks fun, I've been really in to the steampunk theme lately, so I'll try to remember to give this a go this afternoon. | 2010-08-23 12:22:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |
Thanks, hope you're giving it a go | 2010-08-23 20:29:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |
Hello- Nice work with this level, I loved the theme, nice use of the Rusty Metal/Sandpaper materials. I liked that you added a race gate at the beginning, it made all of the gameplay twice as fun! I ended up getting the high-score with around 10k. :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3. | 2010-08-23 22:36:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |
Saw it being developed Was an absolute pleasure to play. A tad short but finding all the point combos added a decent amount of length 5 stars and heart | 2010-08-23 22:39:00 Author: Unknown User |
Woah, it's out! mentioned it when I first saw it and have been waiting for it to come out. I'll try it later today! Edit: I played it and here's what I thought. I liked the style of it even though some parts felt a little randomly decorated but I still loved the style. I didn;t feel like the music fit the level completely but it was okay. I liked the gameplay of it plus the name was great. There was a pretty good amount of points spread out and overall I thought you still did a great job designing the level and the characters weren;t too detailed but they were okay. Overall, I gave it 4 stars and a heart. Not your best work but I still had some fun playing it. | 2010-08-23 23:51:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
Looks beautiful in a dingy mucky way! I will be sure to give it a go after I get my exam results (if I am still breathing) Shame you are retiring from lbp1 this level looks incredible | 2010-08-24 00:50:00 Author: AssassinatorRFC Posts: 715 |
Thanks for the comments, you should know that I still had alot of thermomether left but I simply didn't have time and I didn't enjoy making this level anymore. Made an ending and published it so it can see daylight instead of rott away on my moon, glad to hear you can still enjoy it ;D | 2010-08-24 11:13:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |
What can I say. This is truely heart and 5 star worthy level. My only complaint is that I encountered a bug just after the first set of crushers just before the checkpoint. I steped back just before I got to the checkpoint and went back to find a door suddenly blocking my way to the checkpoint. | 2010-08-24 11:19:00 Author: The Gentleman Posts: 360 |
Oh! I remember your project thread from a while back. Looked food then and surely looks good now. I'll give it a go! | 2010-08-24 15:39:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
@piggabling, have you tried it out yet? | 2010-08-25 22:52:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |
I played this a couple of days ago and enjoyed it immensely. The level has a really cool style. You've done the scrapyard look really well. I particularly liked how spiky it seemed - all those TV aerial thingies and windmills. Oh, and the magnet with the forks and other random bits and pieces on it made me smile. Brilliant dramatic camera angle just before the scoreboard too. The race is a lot of fun. Lots of decisions about whether to sacrifice bubbles for speed and how far to push your luck in trying to get past the crushers. Very cool! :star::star::star::star::star: and <3 BTW there's a typo in your level description. Scrapyard is missing an "r". | 2010-08-26 00:16:00 Author: shropshirelass Posts: 1455 |
Outstanding level, lots of fun. This had a really good flow to it, as things made good sense, ie, very intuitive. Steampunk style nicely achieved too. While I'm not sure on the music, at least it wasn't Tea By the Sea, which has been used a lot for this sort of thing. I struggle with music choices in my own levels, so maybe I'm not the best judge of that. I'm sad to say I didn't quite get to the finish line in time since those darn crushers set me back a bit. Anyway, quite fun. Good luck with it. | 2010-08-26 01:53:00 Author: thanatos989 Posts: 248 |

This level was just fun! There was no real story or major plot, but it was definitely one of my favorite looking levels I've played! I loved the atmosphere as well as the gameplay throughout! I thoroughly enjoyed the "mashers" on the conveyor belt. Great work, I did not have one problem with it! :star::star::star::star::star: <3 | 2010-08-27 23:13:00 Author: ShamgarBlade Posts: 1010 |
oh great level! had fun playing it! Nice gameplay, enjoyable race and nice visuals. :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3! | 2010-08-28 06:41:00 Author: Joey Posts: 758 |
It seems the glitch with the mashers appears but is still rare, I remember having it when the level was in the making.. I thought I fixed it, but I might have to take a look at it again | 2010-08-28 18:45:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |
Okay, I finally got around to playing this today and I thought it was very enjoyable. A quick little race through an atmopsheric steampunk setting. The gameplay objects were engaging and the colors were spot on. The only thing I didn't like was the length and the fact you "had" to do the race. I would've enjoyed a little "relax mode" or something similar so I wasn't forced to race. Not a big deal and totally your choice, but maybe a little bypass around the race would be nice. Either way, nice, fun level. :star::star::star::star::star: | 2010-08-28 22:21:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
I could make a double race, where the first one ends at the part where you can go for the 2 player challenge | 2010-08-28 22:46:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |
I think a little race toggle at the beginning would be nice, but two races might work too. | 2010-08-28 22:55:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
Hey, kn0cked-0ut, congrats on getting spotlighted, you earned it | 2010-09-06 00:27:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
I love steampunk levels! I find them really inspiring! I'll be sure to check this out if I'm not too busy! | 2010-09-06 00:45:00 Author: Weretigr Posts: 2105 |
thought i responded here already... played this about 20 times the other day when i finally got around to check it out. awesome race, beautiful visuals, perfect pace and spacing for everything in the platforming and mechanics department. short but sweet; but i think with races and competitive scoring, i like a brisk pace for things. did the same exploit as everyone else did, and nabbed the #1 spot (probably not still #1 now, though). i haven't enjoyed a quick race this much since me and deboerdave used to try and break #1 on leathermonkey's Race for Sparta level like a year and a half ago. | 2010-09-20 15:26:00 Author: Unknown User |

I probably shouldn't bump up some old trash but im doing it anyways, thanks for playing and commenting. Its great to hear that you enjoyed the race, it actually wasn't intented to be a race level until the level was about 70% finished | 2010-09-27 21:16:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |
