Your first level?

Archive: 39 posts

A lot of people have unpublished their first level, but I want to know if you still have your first level on your moon. If so, what is it called? and what is it about? and be honest, post screenshots or type the level name if you still have it published2010-08-22 23:50:00

NINJA, a level I made after being inspired by...erm...ninja stuff.

You start off under an arch, and then you go over two stone bridges with glass water, then you go up a tower with a badly design winch lift, you grab a dagger to open a door. Avoid wooden samurai robots. Dodge ninja attacks from the shadows. Dodge giant shurikens. Dodge giant dagger boss. Go inside giant tree with badly placed jetpacks. Go through one layer tree forest. Get on boat that floats on a glass pond, it uses a oar than spins really fast, which is funny because it would've worked really well with the water DLC. Go to town with sign that says "play" in Kanji. Go over roofs or fight wooden samurai robots. Get to end, scoreboard emits fish everywhere. Yay!

I did try to make a level before that, and it was an awesome level, but i deleted it because it didn't look like it was going anywhere. The one posted above was actually published at one time though.

My first level, in my opinion, sucked. But, I was a no-good creator then. Well, I pretty much am still now... but either way.. for my first level, I used the Gardens Template. Go check it out if you want, it's been published since September when I got LBP It's called "Jungle Adventure" (lol)2010-08-23 00:12:00

I sitll have my very first level published. It was made during the beta of LBP1. It sort of suck but still, I can't erase it. I have some attachment to it.

The name is "The Banana Horde".

My first level was called LittleBigHouse. It's found in my signature below. I made a thread about it but not many replied to it. I think I did pretty good for my first level. Now, I'm currently working on levels on my moon more before I post. It's amazing what you can learn from your mistakes.2010-08-23 05:49:00

ice world 0001....
IT was extremely uber crap. Poorly built and so short. It was a race level filled with glassed and had glass stars bolted to the glass wall. Even had some fire too. and... oh god. :'(
The memories of the horrid level, argh!

It's now sitting on my moon with the description "What were you thinking?"

Shinan Fortress Part 1: Burning Outskirts.

Unpublished it for revamping (for like the 15th time XD) and currently on my moon.
I believe I have a copy of the original "finished" version there oo.

Yeah...I like to Update it every time I think I can do some stuff better, usually its a lot of minor updates, but am currently working on the 4th Major revamp, which is an almost full, or complete level upgrade. (most of the level deleted.)

- Ver 1.0
Primary Release, not "bad" but nothing impressive either.

- Ver 2.0
Major visual upgrade for the whole level + Boss, replaced a few traps and revamped the rest.

- Ver 3.0 (Never Published)
I worked on this for a while as a "renewal" but ended upsidetracked by another version I was working on.
Full level & boss re-make.

- Ver 4.0 (Current, Unfinished)
Major overhaul, most from ver 2.0 deleted leaving only a few traps and the few remaining were revamped, mid-boss aded, boss visual's upgraded, and new "battle" scheme.
This is more like a convination of ver. 3.0 and ver. 2.5, taking ideas from both to bring top visuals and gameplay into motion along with an actual storyline to the level series.

Altho still can't finish it as I've been also working on the other 8 parts of the Shinan Fortress levels.

I'll post pics later I guess.

in case people wanted to know, my first level is called "Ice Slide" it is not in my published levels but I still have it on my moon. I think it was ok for a first, but I hope that people would think that I have improved hahaha. It was inspired by my favorite story mode race. I can't think of what its called now, but its just a race where you are on the little slide with a sled. But it's nice to look back at all of those levels that I have made forever ago. I wish I could remember what had inspired most of them.2010-08-23 21:51:00

The Act of Giving. Still published.

Its christmas night, and you rush into town to give people in need presents. At the time I thought it was good, but now that I look back at it, its below average. Im planning on remaking it this christmas in LBP2 though.

My first level was called "Sir Pent's Cavern". It was pretty awful, but I must say it was decent for a first level. I'm sure it helped that I obsessed over LBP before I got it and looked up all the tricks of the trade before even playing the game once. I knew a lot of basic ways of doing stuff which made it a lot easier on myself.

Basically "Sir Pent" (a snake...bad pun. ;D) claims there's a disturbance deep within his cavern. So you go and help him out by venturing deep within. There's a theme change at one point (I really don't know what I was thinking. It was like a cave slowly transformed into a temple.) which eventually led to the boss. The boss was Sir Pent himself (but much larger and more dangerous), and he explains that you're a fool for crawling so deep into his cave an now he's gonna eat you. Well you beat him, he escapes to his "Vacation Temple" and that was gonna be the sequel. I actually started making it and it was close to being done but I gave up soon after.

Both the first level and the sequel are on my moon now and I refuse to ever delete them because they allow me to see how far I've come as a creator.

My first level was kinda noob-ish, but i'd like to think it wasn't as bad as most other people's first levels are. It was inspired by an anti-gravity car level (basically it was a shabbily-made car-like vehicle with rockets slapped on the top so that it would defy gravity) I thought it was really cool, but that it wasn't long enough. so i decided to make my own titled "Rollercoaster through the sky" (its a sadly akwardly long and nooby name now that i look back on it) The vehicle i made had the same function as the one in the level i had played, except mine.. well.. kinda looked like a motorcycle xD and the level itself had a over-decorated india-ish theme to it.
I had improved and republished it a few times since the time that i had first put it up, but I ended up overwrighting it by accident while republishing one of my recent coasters.. R.I.P nooby 1st level 2009~2010. .. Edit: I think that's the longest post i've ever posted :o

My first level was an underwater level called "The Undersea World of Sack Cousteau".

It was actually a rather good looking level but the gameplay was horrible. All sorts of "fiddly" terrain that would cause weird layer shifting. It also had a puzzle with dragging a fish that people got stuck on.

I only recently un-published it. I had 3 pre-water "underwater" levels that all looked quite dated now that we have water...and they hadn't been played in eons anyway. I updated 1...but the other 2 would have taken too much work. I still have the originals on my moon.

My very 1st level was a music level. It's still published and is called "Linkin Park - Numb (Not Done)" by Tr1xR4k1dz13 It's not completed and probably never will be, lol. Hasn't been worked on for over a year. It's pretty suckish, although it is still rated 4 stars. My newest Music level, "Sleepyhead - Passion Pit" is pretty beast though. 5 stars, 40 plays 7 hearts.2010-08-24 03:38:00

I believe the story race you were speaking of is called "Spline Rider".

Mine was "Sehven's Mech," the very first mech I built. It was hideously ugly (mostly peach floaty and cardboard), liked to drag its head on the ground at times, and was kinda' awkward to drive. Still, it used buttons on the inside of the cockpit to control direction, a grab switch for shooting, and a sensor that detected when sackboy jumped to control the mech's jump jets, so it was pretty advanced compared to most of the other walkers at the time. The level was a short obstacle course, jumping over pits that would crush you, riding across a row of rollers, hopping up a few short steps and then a battle against another mech... which basically meant holding down the trigger and hoping the other one died before you did.

It's not published any more and I don't have a copy on my moon either, but the mech can be seen at the end of "Sehven's Mech Mark IIa" as an enemy you fight.

Garden Of Joy. I did publish it and was quite proud of it.

It started with you in the bottom left corner of the Gradens background, with some giant stone SackPerson telling you to blow up some litter with explosives (people must of thought I was some kind of hippy or something xD), which involved the story bottles next to some exposives. The explosives were attached to a button. You could have simply ignored that bit actually.

Then you took a jetpack up a stone hill, then walked across some dark matter. Then the same giant stone ScakPerson from before is holding some sponge hearts, and you swing on them. You then dropped down next to a giant stone circle, which seemed pointless. Walk a bit further and a HUGE SackPerson who's on fire tells you he loves stickers. Stick one one the stone circle and he dissapears. Then you walk up a hill, skateboard down with the story skateboard, and take a cardboard rocket that tips over and runs flat along the floor to the right hand side of the level.

The End.

Obviously hardly any first levels are masterpeices, but that especially stunk. In fact, only after the logic pack did my creations really become anything decent, with Puzzle World being my 'first good level'. I still have all of them on my moon, except for two which I only kept published for a couple of days because they were really bad.

I published my first level only a week or two after the game came out - it's called "The Nightmare Wheel" - and it's still published.

It was a design concept to have an entire platform level all working from just a single motor bolt..

It's basically just a massive thin layer cardboard wheel with single thick layer concentric rings eminating from the centre.
It requires a very tricky timed jump in order to escape, so not many people who played it completed it.
It's very basic compared to what's out now - but it explains in the description that it was my first attempt at a level.

I would only unpublish it if I ran out of slots

my firsst level wason my moon but i got rid of it ages ago. it o.k for a extreme noobie because i had only had the game for 2 days.... but it was really a mish-mash of story collected objects and a ton of dark matter.2010-08-24 18:38:00

My first level is...... Corrupt.

I still have it on my moon, but it won't load.

It was called 'psychedelic penguin panic'. Alhough it had less to do with penguins than the name implies.

It had an interesting game mechanic... But it wasn't made good. I should remake it for fun sometime.

"Metal Gear Solid: LBP Act 1" I've since changed it to"Metal Gear Solid. my new better version is in the works". I'm a Metal Gear super-fan, so I wanted to make the best recreation of MGS on LBP... it's accurate for the most part, but has some major flaws. Apparently you can fall off the side of the elevators which was the main complaint, but I could never get it to happen when I was playing.

Anyway I've been rebuilding this stage since it was published, and the things I learned from my mistakes are going to make it an amazing stage. I plan to have Act 1 released soon after LBP2's release.

Oh, and yes, it's still published. Just search under my name. You can also play the level that's in my sig to see what I can do in a week now, compared to the six months it took me to build "Metal Gear Solid. my new better version is in the works"

Something else to note is that I didn't use the grid at all, I didn't even realize there was a grid until later

Then, I became a member here and looked through as many tutorials as I could.
Now I am publishing much better levels!

I am SO curios. I send reports on everything I find offensive, or think any minority might find offensive, and everything I've reported is still able to be played. So what did you do?

Save The Castle, you have to stop some evil guy from taking over the King's castle, it was badly designed and looked horrible though. XD The ending boss didn't even work, he wouldn't show up. ._.

I had it on my moon for awhile, until my bf tried to play it so I immediately left and deleted it. I was embarrassed. D:

"Platforming 101 (http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/t5/PS3-Promotion-Zone/Platforming-101/m-p/60091/highlight/true#M12043)". Still published.
Everything is glued together so I can't really edit it.

Since I couldn't remake it, I copied + published it with the new title "Bad design 101".
I added an ingame commentary about all the bad choices I made when creating.

I still have fun playing it, and that's what counts.
