Also known as simply "Amelie", in case there is any confusion

I agree, it is an amazing film film though.

*waits for Teebonesy to come give his review*

How did you knooow?

I love this movie! It's as adorable a movie as you're likely to find anywhere. It's rare that you come across a movie that is really genuinely a "feel good" movie, that exists to warm your heart and actually succeeds.. Amelie is cute and endearing and loves life, and even her evil side is lovable. This is the best movie Jeunet has made as far as I'm concerned. I challenge anyone to watch this and not fall in love with Amelie and the magical world she lives in.

EDIT: One tidbit I'd like to rant about actually. Amelie had some lovely novel bits of storytelling fluorish, in which a narrator butts in to unravel a long-winded whimsical tale with something of a pointless payoff - The point was to make the tone almost weightless, you can always be enjoying yourself without feeling burdened by the characters or their problems. It was really fun and something that Jeunet and his writers have done on nearly every movie.

However, since Amelie I've seen this sort of thing attempted many, many times, by would-be clever screenwriters trying to be stylistic and memorable. An example is the sequence in Benjamin Button leading up to the car accident. It felt really forced and didn't work for me at all and felt completely out of tone and character with the rest of the movie.

Amelie, however, pulled this kind of thing off absolutey naturally, better than anything else I've seen. I hate it when movies try this kind of crap nowadays, but I still love to see Amelie do it right.

Oh, a french Movie, from Jean-Pierre Jeunet a great french director (please take a look to "Delicatessen", and you all know Alien 3 from him....yes, it is him!)...
I loved the film a lot when i first saw it. However i must admit that at each vision, the movie seems to me less and less good...
Perhaps because the actress, Audrey Tautou made a lot of movies with similar character after this one...
