Walker logic help please (SOLVED)

Archive: 7 posts

im trying to make a walker where the legs will continue go until both legs are on the ground, and the player makes it stop by letting go of the grab switch. I dont want the walker to just stop moving while a leg is in the air. How do I do this? I cant figure out a way to do this. Can someone help?2010-08-21 19:48:00

How is your walker's walking motion controlled? Piston/wobble bolt timings or is there a sequencer type thing that controls sync?2010-08-22 00:25:00

Right I think I got this guys

make the legs hollow and put a piece of peach floaty inside with a mag key on it, and put the switch on below it with a trigger radius just big enough for the floaty to fit. Make a piece of logic with a magnetic key on a piston pushing toward a mag switch also on a piston. Link magnetic key on the leg to the key piston and make directional. Make a grab switch link to a toggle switch with a directional output. Link the directional piston up and make it so that when you toggle it the switch piston moves towards the key piston. Make the key piston inverted so that it is always out and make the switch on the piston inverted and link It to the legs of your walker

that should work! Tell me if you want a picture

edit: make the toggle switch activate a another piston which is linked to the key piston and have it turn on whenever the mech isn't moving.

Have 2 magnetic key switches (different colors) on the body of the walker, and a magnetic key on each foot (same 2 colors). then, adjust it so that it is inactivated only when it's on the ground. Invert the switch. Have an AND switch, and connect the output to the left leg's bolts, then connect the left leg's magnetic key switch to the first piston, and then the grab switch to the second piston (make sure they are both set to directional.) Now copy the and switch for the right leg and hook it up the same except that it's right instead of left.
That should work if you do it right.

EDIT: Oh, wow, Assassinator already answered it . Well, I guess now you have 2 ways to do it!

Yeah my bad for sniping you tjb

it depends how you want to do it yourself from these two methods. That is the thing there is alot of different ways to do the same thing. (ahem. Please don't take that the wrong way folks)

Uh... what? I didn't understand either of those methods. Make the legs hollow? That'll make them weaker. Also, could you explain the theory behind your logic, 'cuz just reading a straight up description, I have no idea what either of those proposed solutions are supposed to accomplish.

@bob, I'd feel pretty comfortable saying that I'm an expert mech builder in lbp and my latest mech (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=27374-Most-Advanced-Bipedal-Mech-in-LBP-VT-5-Lightning) goes back to its neutral hunkered down position when you stop moving, so I'm sure I can help you figure it out. I just need details on how exactly your current walk logic works.

Well My walker is powered by a piston and 4 wobble bolts.
thanks tjb0607 that was really confusing but that seemed to do the trick
Thanks everyone!
