LBPC's Secret!

Archive: 58 posts

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.lbpcentral.com/chat/&hl=en&strip=0

I thought the site doesn't have chat anymore?

EDIT:
Like all fun things, it was removed by those in power.
BUT, if you can reach a cached copy, you'll still get it.

In the meantime, I advise you to contact CC and tell him to restore the page. Hopefully if we get enough voices, we can get this back up.

EDIT 2:
New working link is up. Stick it to the man!

EDIT 3:

Let me just make this clear, though: the chat is completely unsupported. If there are issues, problems, bugs, etc related to it, we will not be providing any sort of support for it. As far as staff is concerned, the /chat/ directory doesn't even exist anymore. If our clever members have found a way around it, then there's not much we can do to stop them, but we're not here to provide any sort of upkeep.

Yeah, it's like the background from when I registered O_o We haven't used that in two years ;o

... btw, CC, if you are thinking of a chat... remember, there ARE chat mods out there that allow the user to keep the same account they use on the forum. Just saying. /cough

that theming actually predates LBP :/ Think it was first made in September 08... Or was that eviltikigod's as was January 09? Either way, it predates the current one by at least a year D:

LBPC has always looked great. Here (http://replay.waybackmachine.org/20070703170950/http://www.lbpcentral.com/) it is in July 2007. (Wait for the link to finish loading after you click it.)

It's from the Wayback Machine, an internet archive site that scans websites and copies them. Their most recent scan is from June 30th, 2009, and I don't know why they've stopped. Here (http://replay.waybackmachine.org/20090614040343/http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/?) it is, but it's very messed up since most of the picture links for the forum headers and skins are broken.

The chat is just an embedded IRC chat - you could access it from a dedicated IRC client if you wanted. It's not routing through our servers and we're not doing any work to upkeep it. The problem, however, is as with all chat clients we may offer, we also have to support them with moderation and the like. The only solutions that would be widely used enough to justify moderation (embedded solutions like Arrowchat) are also too server-heavy to be feasible for a community of our size. Whether it's a chat service or something completely different, unless we can moderate it, we can't officially provide it - that's just the way it is.2010-08-20 22:36:00

If there was a chat capability that didn't send the site into spasms, don't you think you'd have it? Removed by the "those in power", like "all fun things"?? Well, you've got CC's number then, haven't you, because he goes out of his way to ensure people have a crappy time here with the most minimal and limited facilities. Yeah, you pegged it...

just wondering, how would I be able to access it with chatzilla? i tried joining irc://irc.mibbit.com/lbp but it doesn't seem to be there

That was mainly joking. I just found it funny that when I posted this his reaction was like "ZOMG we can't moderate this. *Kills chat* ".

My only real problem with CC is the thing about using LBP Central's name in projects. The PSP Logic Team is slaving over making an awesome level pack, but it's never going to get attention because they can't use the LBPC name in it. Hasn't he ever heard the saying about "No such thing as bad publicity"?

Anyways, ima shut up now. I'm lucky to escape unbanaranged.

Indeed you are Jk. You're welcome to have your say - just as I'm welcome to respond.

Consider this - there is such a thing as liability and also intellectual property - and the desire to maintain the quality of said 'property'. You cannot seriously think you could run an unmoderated chat server with someone else's company name on it? It's the same thing here. Plus, if you have pride in something and try hard to keep it community friendly, you can't afford to let the nincompoops run wild with it (as we all know they would once the word got out) - not to mention the fact that all the crap would then be attributed to LBPC by association. How is that fair? And before you try to argue that peeps would/could be responsible with it and blah blah blah, I can tell you for a fact that if this forum were unmoderated it would be a very different place and a lot less enjoyable. Sadly the few would once again ruin it for the many, and there'd be no-one there to clean up the carnage. I totally get where CC's coming from.

As for using LBPC in the title.. why should he allow the use of that intellectual property for a project of unknown quality and outcome? Just because I'm a moderator here doesn't mean I can officially speak for the community, right? Now, I'm not saying your Logic Pack is not going to be of very high quality - it well may be excellent, but it's not completed yet, so it's still an uncertainty. From memory - and I could be wrong here, I don't believe the PS3 Logic Pack used the name LBPC on the official title/creator title. I think it was only in the description. Therefore I don't see why your Logic Pack would get less publicity simply by lacking LBPC in the title. If it's awesome, it'll get played because it's helpful to the PSP community - word gets around.

Cheers

Edit - (after reading below) Ah, so there you go!

Actually, the difference between the logic packs is that CC had full control over the ps3 one. To all intents and purposes, we were 'working' for him, which is why it was lbpc branded. The reasons why he asked the psp logic pack to not use the name were well explained and perfectly reasonable imo.

Other projects that have started out on this site and not used the name have managed to gain plenty of attention... See sackinima and sackcast for examples. So saying that it won't receive attention for lack of endorsement is nonsense.

Well... I've always wondered, what about LBPC: The Game? I mean CC hasn't even played any of it yet it has the name... I unno, I just always wondered where that stood on the whole LBPC name official thingy.

Also, I would like to know how exactly this chat thing even got onto the site at all? When exactly was it added or whatever?

hey, i've discvered a way to see only the chat box, and i'll make this a new project (giving credit to B3 too by discoviring the LBPCChat ^^)
There will be rules, logo, videos, everything a big project have.
So come (when it's open) and say hi again to the LBPCentral (official?) reopen!
but, first of all, i'll get permission of CC if can reopen it officialy...

I'm really bad at excluding signatures when I read things, as the separator is a tiny gray line I barely see, so I just went on to read the signature as part of the post and was thoroughly confused.

I was all like "Ok... So you won't help us with the chat at all, but you want us to send you a pm if we have any problems with it?"

And then I realized what I did, and knew that the sleep deprivation was kicking in.

Also, since it says if we need assistance with something, and the something is left without qualifiers, that something in effect means anything.

So if we need assistance with anything, we should be encouraged to PM you?

Well, I do need some help with some chores... PMs CC...

Ignore me, this is just the sleep deprivation talking <.<

... I remember you speaking against the Spam Can on multiple occasions saying it was a waste O-o

Then again, no one can apply reason to anything you say, so ;-;

... But yeah, how did the chat even get on the server/ Was it a sideffect of a server upgrade? LittleBigCreation despite that being a different domain? I'm curious :/
