Grave Sea

Set sail to the eerie Grave Sea. See what's up at the port, and help Solve a mystery... This is a level I have been working on for far too long, it's looking great, but I've been distracted by much, and now I have no inspiration to build it, but it must be completed! So I made this thread so that I could be inspired to build it more? Here's a bit how it goes already: ---- I move to the right, right after appearing, a low wind can be heard, and I am on a thick rusted dock above murky waters full of garbage, I move right, a eerie blue light shines down through a spectacle of worn ropes and threads...a iron wheel with an unknown purpose also creaks in the wind, I move right more, and an anchor lift moves about between two platforms, but I fall off the dock, and right into the murky waters, nothing much but odd items and more garbage, a submarine is docked down there, abandoned, it's doors locked shut by even more rust...I use a small lift to escape the pits of water, I move right into a large metal warehouse. It has seen much damage and destruction, I move a crate to the right to climb a stack of boxes to reach a lever suspended from the ceiling, hung by a few chewed wires, I activate the lever. Cogs twist and iron creaks, the lights stumble on and the room is finely lit, then a loud pounding noise comes from my left, it shakes the whole room, then it repeats over and over, further investigation yields that it is the garbage compactor... ---- http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn65/warlord_evil/Grave_Progress3.png http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn65/warlord_evil/Grave_Progress1.png http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn65/warlord_evil/Grave_Progress4.png http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn65/warlord_evil/Grave_Progress2.png ---- I'll try to post progress updates every now and then too. | 2010-08-20 05:20:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |

Just to let you know, this level has been worked on ever since I posted this...I added part of a new section! One thing, I call for assistance, I am short of ideas for the storyline, suggestions would be nice! But before you get started though, review what the levels theme is like: A 50's era dockyard and city filled with trash and scrap. Dozens of rusted boats, submarines, and what-not are used to create the current buildings of the city. Everything is metal, with some old decayed wood bits here and there. The story should roll out like this: You start off at the edge of a dock, make way though a garbage disposal place, and into a sewer, from there, you get to the city, afterward, you set sail into the Grave Sea, as there is some kind of mystery there. That's what I need help with though, I don't know what the mystery should be? It could be anything, an old pirate ship, a ghost of a villain, maybe a hidden weapon? | 2010-09-07 04:19:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I think some kind of underground, nuclear warhead would be a cool mystery! Something along the lines of: Twenty (or whatever) years ago, scientists began work on a top-secret weapon, more powerful than anything ever seen on the Earth. Not long after, all of the scientists had vanished and work on the weapon was halted. As a son/daughter (or grandson/grand-daughter) of one of the missing scientists, you've been looking around at your father's (or grandfather's) notes. They hinted at the massively destructive weapon. The info, your intuitiveness, and curiosity have lead you to this desolate wasteland of a city. Is the weapon where you've pinpointed it, or will you be disappointed? Ooh, that's sweet! Makes sense with the wars and research at the time. | 2010-09-08 01:58:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |

I've thought about a warhead, but it just seems sudden to just have it sitting there, I would like to get something without a large storyline, so that the level is free of long stories. | 2010-09-08 02:09:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Hmmm... Alright. Haha! I couldn't agree more. Serious plotlines are a hassle. I didn't intend for it to be so long, but it kinda drug on... Well, something else.... I thing a big ol' pirate ghost ship or a hidden cove of some sorts. "A ship rumored to be haunting the sea. Blah, blah, blah..." The only idea of yours I don't like is the ghost of a villian (unless he's on the pirate ship, of course) Actually, if you're looking for a little humor, you could take the stereotypical MALE pirate and replace him with a FEMALE ghost pirate. A little unexpected twist... | 2010-09-08 02:18:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |

This level has came to my mind once or twice after this thread kind of dropped to the lower pages. After seeing that video, I really want to play it! It has perfect sounds and is very atmospheric. It's a shame no one can play it yet! | 2010-10-11 03:38:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |

It's a shame no one can play it yet! Why thank you very much. The reason it's not currently being developed is because I have recently fallen in love with Modern Warfare 2 again...even though I thought I broke up with it a while back. Also, there's a segment in the level that would work great with bounce pads, but since I can't use them, I'm having difficulty finding a worthy replacement. | 2010-10-11 03:42:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I am certainly still working on this level, and it will now be in LBP2. Images for fun! http://ia.lbp.me/img/ft/2dabe1c9a9953b566db707c963633533a2564a20.jpg http://i1.lbp.me/img/ft/e91aad2873ff3612112b8857f6e2e4aaf61bc415.jpg ' | 2011-01-23 00:32:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |

I don't know if you've decided on a "story" yet, but my idea is that throughout the level, you are haunted by a mysterious unseen presence that follows you, like the water creature from Amnesia. This "presence" may do things like cause machinery to work, and block your path and whatnot, and should probably make some sort of noise whilst doing so. However, this "presence" remains unseen until the very end where it manifests itself into some kind of humanoid figure made of boat parts and stuff. So, yeah. What do you think? Oh, and I don't know whether this is the right thread or if it's been moved, so I'll inbox you. | 2011-01-30 15:30:00 Author: SPONGMONKEY56 Posts: 209 |
