UK release date (unofficial)
Archive: 35 posts
Ok, this might seem kind if odd and I don't know if I was supposed to find this out, but the most recent date given to GAME for the UK release is NOVEMBER 12th! I doubt it is correct as it will almost definitely come out in US first and US release date is 16th... I will tell you how I found out now. I am on holiday up north at the moment and I was trying to get onto skype to find out how leather-monkey did in his A levels. I went into game and found out there was wifi somewhere near so I got online on my iPod. As I was skyping I remembered that people that work in game shops accidentally give away information so I decided to ask some questions. Leather thought it was a good idea. The guy i talked to was in his forties and didn't know much about anything. I asked if they had and lbp2 collectors edition in stock and he looked in the cupboard behind the counter. I laughed so hard inside! He then remembered that it isn't out yet so I asked If they had any information on the collectors edition. He got out this big official looking book and looked to see what you get with it. I thought they might have got confidential stuff or something while I was away. He said it didn't say what came in it but that it comes out on November 12th! I said thanks with a big grin on my face asi walked out the door. I was like 'did I just get incredibly important information???' Anyway, turns out I am an awesome spy. Is this just a random close date that the store was given or is it real? I think it is false, but I thought it was worth reporting! This took incredibly long to type on my iPod... See ya! | 2010-08-20 00:48:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
Probably a place holder that has a chance of being real. This should be in speculation I think? | 2010-08-20 00:53:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
I'd be annoyed if the US got it first - I mean, this is a UK company, and we STILL have to wait longer for it to come out in it's home country? Seems slightly unfair... | 2010-08-20 00:57:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |
Probably a place holder that has a chance of being real. This should be in speculation I think? Doesn't fit in speculation. Plus this is actual news as I haven't heard any uk dates before this. I class it as news. If others don't then it is just down to opinions. :/ Should I try to get confirmation for this or do you think it is just a store date? | 2010-08-20 01:00:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
i dunno, game shop owners dont always know everything. one told me Mm made modnation racers. 0_0 | 2010-08-20 01:08:00 Author: AA_BATTERY Posts: 1117 |
I just wish they could stop the drifting analog stick problem. It makes playing lbp nearly impossible. | 2010-08-20 01:09:00 Author: dragonember Posts: 607 |
I'd be annoyed if the US got it first - I mean, this is a UK company, and we STILL have to wait longer for it to come out in it's home country? Seems slightly unfair... Re-iterate what many before me have said. Mm is a UK company...yes, but it was bought by SONY therefore SONY is the one who decides where it comes out first. NOT Mm. If you don't like it. Oh well : Sony doesn't care if people don't think it's fair. All they want is money. | 2010-08-20 01:10:00 Author: Amigps Posts: 564 |
Hmmm somehow I doubt the integrity of this date... I think it's just a placeholder, and to be honest, the way you described that guy made me somewhat doubt his competence. So well schemed and all, but in the end I think we'll just get some half arsed edition with a few postcards and a "unique" costume pack that'll come out later as DLC. And it'll probably come out on the same day as the US, give or take a day... Why am I still awake so late??? | 2010-08-20 01:15:00 Author: Keanster96 Posts: 1436 |

Oh well : Sony doesn't care if people don't think it's fair. All they want is money. Yeah, I know it belongs to Sony. And I know they want money, but still... Just venting my frustrations! Sorry if it's been said many times already - I haven't seen it mentioned so far, but I don't really hand around the LBP2 forums much... | 2010-08-20 01:28:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |

Again, unless this guy works for Media Molecule, or gave you a copy of a shipping receipt from Sony to the store saying that LBP2 will be arriving on Nov. 11th, then it's speculation. | 2010-08-20 01:44:00 Author: schm0 Posts: 1239 |
lol where I live some guy in a store told me they are selling the game on November 1st. I know he is wrong though XD | 2010-08-20 02:02:00 Author: HollieCat Posts: 197 |
It was in the book of release dates and game information. It is given to GAME by the companies such as Sony and Microsoft. I class it as news seeing as it is the date given to retailers for the release date. | 2010-08-20 02:07:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |

Oh well : Sony doesn't care if people don't think it's fair. All they want is money. It doesn't even matter that sony owns MM, it matters that sony is the Publisher. The publisher decides the things this thread is about, aswell as the CE. | 2010-08-20 02:43:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |

I class it as news seeing as it is the date given to retailers for the release date. A date in a book is just that... a projection so that game stores can plan sales projections, inventory and marketing needs. Until it's officially announced, anything you see from a retailer is not officially confirmed. You even said as much in the title of your thread. | 2010-08-20 02:49:00 Author: schm0 Posts: 1239 |
Just seen that play.com also project it as the 12th so maybe All this Sony OWN mm is a load of rubbish, they're the publishers they're not the big dogs and they certainly aren't they're boss. Britain rules lol | 2010-08-20 02:56:00 Author: Draden6436 Posts: 297 |
I'm gonna pre-order from game-station or play so I've known this for ages i really don't think were gonna get it on the 12th. | 2010-08-20 11:39:00 Author: MasterCreator Posts: 464 |

Britain rules lol Sony Always owned LBP IP, and they bought out MM earlier this year (slightly before the announcement of LBP2 - I wonder why that was eh). MM are a subsiduary of SCEE, which if you follow it up the chain, puts them as being owned by Sony. | 2010-08-20 11:43:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Schm0... It is your opinion that a retail release date is not news. I know it is not the official release date but I am not speculating that it is the given retail release date. I don't want to argue over such a small opinion based quarrel so I won't say any more on that. :/ But what do you think about all this Sony stuff then? Is it possible that we will get it earlier because it is SCEE or will the higher ups deciding on all that stuff? I think that it wl be in US first purely based in what happens with most other games. :/ | 2010-08-20 16:07:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
It is your opinion that a retail release date is not news. It is the opinion of the site staff that it is not news It's not from a reliable source as we know that these stores guess the dates for placeholders. It could well turn out to be correct, but until we hear from somewhere more tangible, we'd like the news to have a little more credibility You might not be speculating that they have posted that, but so what? Doesn't mean that the information is not fundamentally speculative in nature (which it may or may not be, we don't know ) | 2010-08-20 16:12:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Haha, I can't argue at all with you RTM. I know you will come out with sone complicated logic crap that I won't understand... So what do you think about the sony stuff I mentioned above rtm? | 2010-08-20 16:27:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
Obviously it's not the release date until it is announced but Amazon, Play, ShopTo, Zavvi and Game all have the 12th as the release date so atleast they're all on the same day now rather than being randomly distributed throughout november. | 2010-08-20 19:40:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
I think there is a fair chance that it could be November 12th if all the leading retailers are saying it's coming out then, also a week or two ago the release date on amazon was different so the information could be well up to date. Also, this week they did say they are "just finalising the details," so I have high hopes. | 2010-08-20 19:58:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |

So what do you think about the sony stuff I mentioned above rtm? I honestly have no idea. But releases are normally on a Friday aren't they? So I'd say 12th / 19th seems the most likely, but I'm as clueless as anyone else. | 2010-08-20 20:38:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Do you think it would be profitable to bring it out the day after black ops? Or would that be worse and impact on sales? I guess this is just gonna be a wait and see conclusion, but 12th would be a nice date for me! | 2010-08-21 01:43:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
Releasing 3-10 days after cod bo might cost a few sales but I think the games are sufficiently different to release in the same time frame. Cod will sell a crazy amount of units but there's plenty of people that don't like cod/fps that may decide to buy lbp 2. | 2010-08-21 09:34:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

Actually I know quite a lot of people that love cod and say that black ops is just a waste of time. It seems many people are actually saying this!!! | 2010-08-21 11:38:00 Author: Tawarf Posts: 457 |
umm.. How come all those who are disagreeing this is true are from the US or canada (puzzled look) I reckon almost definitely its the 12th. I posted an identical post which was closed (coughs and looks awkwardly at schm0) one of my friends dad works with Media Molecule and as well as having a demo, he told me Media molecule said the 12th. But that is just what I think | 2010-08-21 16:49:00 Author: Alternative_sack Posts: 409 |
one of my friends dad works with Media Molecule Ooh havn't heard that one for ages. | 2010-08-21 17:11:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
The first rule of lying effectively is: You Must Be Consistent. I reckon almost definitely its the 12th. LittleBigPlanet 2 is going to be released in stores in the UK on November 2nd 2010! .... I am 100% sure on this one .... Nov 2nd IS the official release date. I swear on my life. The second rule of lying effectively is: You Must Be Consistent. one of my friends dad works with Media Molecule ... he told me. I live in Guildford, and have seen Mm often. I asked an expert on the topic He worked at a game store I have someone from Mm in my contacts on MSN This is coming from the company which MADE the game. Do I need to explain why no one actually believes you? Please, just stop this because it's getting a little bit embarrassing. | 2010-08-21 17:14:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
@rtm223 Oh snap o.O Sorry just had to say that , and does it really matter if it comes out the 12th or the 19th?? They're only seven days apart | 2010-08-21 18:05:00 Author: Amigps Posts: 564 |
The first rule of lying effectively is: ... The third rule is: make sure it is at least somewhat believable. | 2010-08-21 18:46:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
@rtm223 Oh snap o.O Sorry just had to say that , and does it really matter if it comes out the 12th or the 19th?? They're only seven days apart 7 more days without LBP 2 makes one week. The third rule is: make sure it is at least somewhat believable. The 34th rule is If it exists there's lies about it. | 2010-08-21 18:55:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Side note: last time someone claimed an unlikely link to MM on these forums and I didn't believe them, they were actually related to one of the molecules.... These things do happen. Sometimes. | 2010-08-21 18:59:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

Have you see the rest of this guy's posts? I sure hope not by what your wondering. This guy just posts incorrect stuff left right and center. (grammatically incorrect too!) Sorry if i'm being a bit harsh, but this guy just ticks me off. >_< | 2010-08-21 19:08:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
