Ok, this might seem kind if odd and I don't know if I was supposed to find this out, but the most recent date given to GAME for the UK release is NOVEMBER 12th! I doubt it is correct as it will almost definitely come out in US first and US release date is 16th... I will tell you how I found out now. I am on holiday up north at the moment and I was trying to get onto skype to find out how leather-monkey did in his A levels. I went into game and found out there was wifi somewhere near so I got online on my iPod. As I was skyping I remembered that people that work in game shops accidentally give away information so I decided to ask some questions. Leather thought it was a good idea. The guy i talked to was in his forties and didn't know much about anything. I asked if they had and lbp2 collectors edition in stock and he looked in the cupboard behind the counter. I laughed so hard inside! He then remembered that it isn't out yet so I asked If they had any information on the collectors edition. He got out this big official looking book and looked to see what you get with it. I thought they might have got confidential stuff or something while I was away. He said it didn't say what came in it but that it comes out on November 12th! I said thanks with a big grin on my face asi walked out the door. I was like 'did I just get incredibly important information???' Anyway, turns out I am an awesome spy. Is this just a random close date that the store was given or is it real? I think it is false, but I thought it was worth reporting! This took incredibly long to type on my iPod... See ya!

I'd be annoyed if the US got it first - I mean, this is a UK company, and we STILL have to wait longer for it to come out in it's home country? Seems slightly unfair...

I just wish they could stop the drifting analog stick problem. It makes playing lbp nearly impossible.

Hmmm somehow I doubt the integrity of this date... I think it's just a placeholder, and to be honest, the way you described that guy made me somewhat doubt his competence. So well schemed and all, but in the end I think we'll just get some half arsed edition with a few postcards and a "unique" costume pack that'll come out later as DLC. And it'll probably come out on the same day as the US, give or take a day... Why am I still awake so late???

Again, unless this guy works for Media Molecule, or gave you a copy of a shipping receipt from Sony to the store saying that LBP2 will be arriving on Nov. 11th, then it's speculation.

The publisher decides the things this thread is about, aswell as the CE.

A date in a book is just that... a projection so that game stores can plan sales projections, inventory and marketing needs. Until it's officially announced, anything you see from a retailer is not officially confirmed. You even said as much in the title of your thread.

Britain rules lol Sony Always owned LBP IP, and they bought out MM earlier this year (slightly before the announcement of LBP2 - I wonder why that was eh). MM are a subsiduary of SCEE, which if you follow it up the chain, puts them as being owned by Sony.

Schm0... It is your opinion that a retail release date is not news. I know it is not the official release date but I am not speculating that it is the given retail release date. I don't want to argue over such a small opinion based quarrel so I won't say any more on that. :/ But what do you think about all this Sony stuff then? Is it possible that we will get it earlier because it is SCEE or will the higher ups deciding on all that stuff? I think that it wl be in US first purely based in what happens with most other games. :/

It is your opinion that a retail release date is not news. It is the opinion of the site staff that it is not news It's not from a reliable source as we know that these stores guess the dates for placeholders. It could well turn out to be correct, but until we hear from somewhere more tangible, we'd like the news to have a little more credibility You might not be speculating that they have posted that, but so what? Doesn't mean that the information is not fundamentally speculative in nature (which it may or may not be, we don't know )

Obviously it's not the release date until it is announced but Amazon, Play, ShopTo, Zavvi and Game all have the 12th as the release date so atleast they're all on the same day now rather than being randomly distributed throughout november.

I think there is a fair chance that it could be November 12th if all the leading retailers are saying it's coming out then, also a week or two ago the release date on amazon was different so the information could be well up to date. Also, this week they did say they are "just finalising the details," so I have high hopes.

So what do you think about the sony stuff I mentioned above rtm? I honestly have no idea. But releases are normally on a Friday aren't they? So I'd say 12th / 19th seems the most likely, but I'm as clueless as anyone else.

Do you think it would be profitable to bring it out the day after black ops? Or would that be worse and impact on sales? I guess this is just gonna be a wait and see conclusion, but 12th would be a nice date for me!

umm.. How come all those who are disagreeing this is true are from the US or canada (puzzled look) I reckon almost definitely its the 12th. I posted an identical post which was closed (coughs and looks awkwardly at schm0) one of my friends dad works with Media Molecule and as well as having a demo, he told me Media molecule said the 12th. But that is just what I think

I am 100% sure on this one .... Nov 2nd IS the official release date. I swear on my life. I asked an expert on the topic He worked at a game store I have someone from Mm in my contacts on MSN This is coming from the company which MADE the game. Do I need to explain why no one actually believes you? Please, just stop this because it's getting a little bit embarrassing.
