I don't think there is a safe place to be sitting ON the plane. It's much safer if you're sitting IN the plane. There's a lot less WIND in there! Let Evel Knievel get ON the plane.

Wouldnt the safest place to on the plane be right next to the parachutes?2010-08-26 22:43:00

Its a plane if it breaks down mid flight, like all engines fail theres not much point being concerned were you sit.
Facts are your more likely to die on a road than in a plane.

Rather large bump there good fellow, be sure to check the date of the last post before you reply (don't worry, I made this mistake when I was new to once)

Also, this thread has scared me senseless now, I'm not a huge fan of going on planes anyway

I think that's because when a plane crashes, lots of people die and the media makes a fuss of it. But car crashes are way more frequent than plane crashes, and I believe that the total of deaths by car accidents is always greater than the total of those in plane accidents.

Always nice to know the suits will die first.

Nothing to do with that. Crashing into another car/wall probably isn't as scary as falling tens of thousands of feet in midair.

Maybe because you don't get to scream for 10 minutes while the truck is coming towards you. :sadisticjoke:

In fact, stable pressure and warm temperatures are quite overrated these days.

I would sit next to the pilot. In case of an emergency I just pull the seat ejection like Bruce Willis in Die Hard 2. Easy.2012-04-08 16:49:00

Because the thought of plummeting 30 000 ft to the ground is pretty scary.

Are you implying it isn't as scary as going 160km/h into another car or a pole? Knowing that you are going to get crushed in any second, or get some piece of metal through your body?

No i'm just saying that people tend to be frightened more by heights. Sure you could worry about crashing but you don't really think about it as you drive. However when you're flying it's hard to forget that you're at such a height and should the slightest thing go wrong you are more likely to die than survive. In a car there is nothing standing out at you that is seemingly frightening. But this is coming from a frightened flyer. Anyway moving swiftly onward......

Your everywhere at once? than why is your activity below 10%? because if You are everywhere than it would of always been 100%.

Maaaayyyyybe.

Also planes are cool because they are planes and have wings that make them planes with wings and you can sit anywhere inside them because they are cool.

I was always told that the safest part of the plane was right next to the wings. This is because unlike the rest of the plane, this portion is more enforced since it supports the wings. That, and the wings would absorb part of the impact.

Pffft, and if anything, those first class guys are in the worst seats available if there was a mayday (except for the pilots), since, erm... don't planes always crash nose-first?

Though I guess this is subjective and I am derailing the thread. Move on.

Very late to this argument, but I've been in a minor car crash and I've flown for a few years. Out of those two methods of transportation, people are more scared of flying because of the thought of an airplane losing control and plummeting to a horrible crash is worse than getting hit by another car. Cars give you options to stay alive: airbags, seat belts, and some have better frames than others. If a plane fails mid-flight, then there's nothing stopping it from crashing. Also, just knowing you're about to die while the plane descends is a traumatizing experience. We flew during a storm once, and the plane dropped for about 2 seconds; a lot of us freaked out and I nearly shat a brick.

I would want to be on top of the plane wearing a parachute. That way, if it starts to crash, I just jump off and open the chute.2012-04-18 23:19:00
