LBP server downtime tomorrow

Archive: 55 posts

The servers of the PS3 version will be offline tomorrow between 9:00 and 17:00 CET. Littlebigplanet.com won't be available either. (Subtract one hour if you live in the UK and add or subtract some more if you live elsewhere. There are a million places on the web where you can find out your time )

I know that, but currently, typing LBP.me into a web browser opens up Littlebigplanet.com, so these two websites are obviously linked, even if it's that LBP.com is acting as a placeholder for LBP.me at the moment.2010-08-18 13:50:00

This... oh yes this. Last night was really annoying with audio and text dropping out ever few minutes and the lag..... never saw it as bad as last night. Fix that and I'll be a happy bunny.		2010-08-18 17:05:00

Yes i know the servers were going on and off last night like crazy!

But the thing is, we have no idea whatsoever, I think putting what we think it's for on the OP will only cause confusion when that doesn't happen, if you put "This will probably fix the rating system" people will ignore probably and then get make tons of threads asking why the rating system is still broken...

I expect a beta announcement tommorrow. (God I hope they don't recruit people like they did when LBP1 came out...)

So is LBP.me pretty much going to be what halo 3 had? ( for Halo 3 you could go on Bungie.com and browse levels, you could pick which ones you wanted and when you got on your console they were all there when you went on the game)2010-08-18 22:41:00

+ the profile pages that are messed up (creator pages through hearted levels, pages not showing, etc)
+ hearting bug (all levels hearted by the current profile you're visiting will appear as hearted by you)

Seriously, I just hope they fix those annoyance.

When you're on a friend's page and he's playing a level, you can see the icon by switching between the profile avatar and one of his levels, not much of an issue, but still.		2010-08-18 23:22:00

Until I realised the whole littlebigplanet.com site is going down I didn't really think anything of this...

The server is definately down or running on very little now . I can't seem to be able to edit magic mouths . It configures for about 2-5mins and then the mouths speech comes up blank!2010-08-19 08:47:00

I don't know about everyone else here, but I am a little sad about LBP.me, at least as far as what it means for this site. I mean, I LOVE what we have here. I really don't want to see it end, but, AT LEAST as far as the LBP2 stuff, it looks as if this will no longer be the place to be if you want to get the best news. 2010-08-19 10:54:00

I really don't think that LBP.me and LBPC are mutually exclusive. Whilst LBP.me is a portal into the game, so it will allow plenty of stuff that we can't do here, there is a lot here that LBP.me won't have. It's not intended to replace the forums and fansites and I don't really think that it could. Even if LBP.me had a fully integrated forum, and all of the features we have here, that still wouldn't kill LBPC - because it would just be the Workshop and well... you know... it's the Workshop

As i recall LBP.me should be designed to facilitate integration with other sites and I'm sure ConfusedCartman will be looking to support that where possible.


Anyways, the server downtime probably isn't anything to do with the beta. Remember MM had to knobble the servers to remove the ratings recently as a quick fix to a bigger problem... so my money would be on this downtime is addressing that.		2010-08-19 11:03:00

I can't understand how people think the Beta has anything to do with this, we know of all the problems that have been happening on the servers recently. Also all other Betas have been performed on a separate server so I see no reason why the LBP2 one would be any different.
The LBP site is the confusing thin, I would of assumed that would be on a separate server and it is highly likely since when the servers go down that doesn't. I find it easy to believe that they might be finally setting up LBP.me functionality, but don't expect to see that straight away after the servers go back up.

We are likely to have a patch by the end of the day (just an assumption), If we do we will know if it was an important update from the size, it could be possible that it is just fixing the server issues.		2010-08-19 11:58:00

Well I gotta admit, this puts a cramp on my SackMech contest.

Still, I had been having trouble even just loading levels of late, so hopefully they'll get all of the recent server issues fixed up. Maybe they're trying to find a way to delete all of the bomb survival & copied levels off of the servers to lighten the load? Just kidding, that wouldn't be a nice thing to do.

I don't think they'll be changing anything about the Cool Levels. The only significant change they've done since LBP's release was adding the 7 days rule.		2010-08-19 12:50:00

Nah doubt it. Probably jsut fixing the lag and crash issues we've been having lately. I wonder does it mean they'll be fixing the issue with the ico sound speaker. They did say they were going to bring a patch for that...right?

Edit: The servers are back up. It seems that the star system is back . I like how you had to play the level for what it was. Idk what else they have fixed. Hopefully they fixed the voice chat system as its choppy at best...		2010-08-19 16:19:00

hmm yea...misteriously its back...but I need some one else to confirm something. I had the key glitch. I couldn't unlock locked levels but now I can unlock anything that has a key to it. Could it be they fixed the key glitch during the down time too?2010-08-20 23:57:00

I was just coming to mention that actually, keys are fixed for me too!

I still have some issues with this. For one thing, I still get levels linking to the wrong level, and I still have a bunch of keys in my popit which don't link to anything, and seemingly no way to delete them, so I'd say it's still not entirely fixed.		2010-08-22 18:40:00

Yea Ill take my earlier statement back. It was working for only that day. Now I can't open any locked levels and I too have a key in my poppit that can't be deleted. Also previously played levels are now locked too.		2010-08-22 23:01:00
