Rap/Hip-Hop Appreciation Thread

Archive: 29 posts

This thread is for fans of Rap and Hip-Hop
Well i love Rap and hip/hop, Favorite is obviously Eminem, i like eminem's older songs rather than his new stuff, i hate Love The Way you Lie, i hate it ALOT. It would have been better if Eminem sang the chorus. The new album is pretty good, Eminem said his favorite song from it was Your Never Over, since it is dedicated to Proof
Speaking of Proof i don't think he is that good, he is ok but not very good :o
D12 is ok, they were good when Eminem was actively in the group

50 Cent's Rap's are pretty good, 50 makes good Dance music too, and his new album that was suppose to come out this summer (Black Magic) was suppose to be more of Dance (club) music, but i haven't heard much more about it, oh yah and it was suppose to have 19 tracks in it!

Cashis is a rapper also in Shady Records and he is pretty good so far, he sounds a lot like 50 cent, he only has 1 album but i hear there is another on the way i believe.

And last for now but not least
SlaughterHouse is a rap group of 4 guys, one of there rappers (royce) was Featured in Bad Meets Evil (from Eminem's slim shady lp i believe) And now they are signed to Shady Records. They were in Eminem's song Session One, it was part of Recovery Deluxe edition, well Session one was mostly them singing though, they are pretty good actually, i can't wait till there first album !

Anyway DISCUSS!! Dont let this thread die!

I'm a massive hip hop fan. It's white as hell I know, but I'm into older stuff. Jazz hop is what I love. A Tribe Called Quest, obviously, and De La Soul.
Also on my list:
The Dream Warriors
Jurassic 5
Chali 2na
Q-Tip
Outkast

there's more but i can't think now.

really great stuff! i can give specific recommendations as to songs and albums if anyone wishes.

And also NWA sucks

I do like rap and hip-hop but I don't like much of them.
I only like: Eminem, Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac.
That's all for me.

Where do you see that Alex? im looking on itunes and number 1 is a lil wayne song, Eminem is down to number 5 though but love the way you lie is horrible IMO anyway so

anyway best freestyle ever, this guy made it because he wrote all the lyrics for Lil waynes first album and he didn't get one publishing check. WARNING: Lots of language

Anyway Itunes is a place to downloaded music and its where pretty much where 95% of americans who buy there music buy it from.

I like a few main-stream artists (Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco, Outkast, B.o.B) and a few lesser known (Wale, etc) but I don't tend to delve deep into the underground for other rap artists. I'd much rather look for underground pop-rock and alternative...

I'm not a fan of the big names e.g. Eminem, Lil Wayne, 50 cent... I personally just don't like their music.

Since my roots are on the instrument side of things, I'm not as current as many on vocalists.
That being Said,
I'm a fan of DJ Qbert. Flat-out mind blowing turntablist!

yup DJ Qberts a god. he was forced to retire from world championships after 3 years because it was so unfair that no other DJs would enter.2010-08-21 22:39:00

I'm more of a hiphop fan; mostly sample-based or underground acts like Madlib, J Dilla, Quasimoto, Herbaliser, Dj Krush, Dj Shadow, Cut Chemist, Flying Lotus etc. I like MF Doom and Dudley Perkin's rap/vocal music, too.
