I know the title doesn't sound very related, but it's dedicated to the person who helped me create this level.
It's not very long, but we tried to make up for it with some details here and there.

It looks like a lot of fun, I'll try playing it later today or tommorow and tell you what I think.

Edit: I played it here's what I thought. I thought you did a great job with the visuals and the scenery plus I like the extra points you can get in the beginning ( I didn't wanna give it away. ) When you pass by the 3 little uildings where you can collect the points by grabbing the building, you must jump over spikes and a burnt part while going to the right then you have to jump to the back layer and then go to the left avoiding more burnt areas. I think you should put a checkpoint in the back layer to the very right because it's pretty challenging and I've tried 3 times to get past it and each time I've lost all my lives. Maybe I'm just bad at playing but I think you should put a checkpoint where I suggested. So far it's great and besides the checkpoint problem, I think it's definitely worth :star::star::star::star:

Also, you should mention that your psn is really FlynnTaggart22

It does say FlynnTaggart22 in the title though, doesn't it? Anyway yeah, my PSN is FlynnTaggart22.

dragonvarsity, I have added some more checkpoints, I have realized that people found it too hard and it would be a shame if they couldn't finish it because of the difficulty.
Also, I've noticed the x2 area can get pretty messy with 3 or 4 players, but there's not really much I can do about it. The level was only tested with 2 players.

Hopefully you can complete it now.

Okay, thanks for making the changes. I'll try it again later today or tomorrow and tell you what I think of the rest. Also, sorry, didn't see that there.

Edit: I played it again and completed it. I think you did a great job with scenery and the gameplay was pretty good but a little short and challenging at times which is good because it wasn't frustrating or too easy. I think you did a good job picking music and sound effects and I liked switching through layers to avoid the fire. I played alone so I did't get to experience the 2x and 3x challenges. I also thought you did a good job changing to night time and how you made the level look beautiful in the morning and at night. Overall, I gave it :star::star::star::star: and forgot to heart it so I will soon.

Hey, Thanks for playing The Mystery of Mystery Island.

Just played Evelyn.

Postives
+Pretty unique art style, look really great
+I like those swinging door things, they look like they are just swaying in the wind
+I like how you push the windows out
+the platforms that drops down and make a path was cool

Suggestions
-the bits with the moving platforms was hard, they kept moving out from under me, just me whinging
-make it so you can see the whole boat while you are driving it
-the outdoor areas are very relaxing and feel magical, but the indoor areas not so much. Im not sure if you meant for this contrast, but the outside is a bit better decorated than inside
-You could probably get a better picture for the icon/badge. could get a good one of the outdoor areas perhaps

Overal, very fun level with some pretty awesome bits. Not too much to change that I can spot!!

@psyntens: thank you, I have already reviewed your level

@Joburg: thanks for the suggestions man, perhaps I should extend the pause time in those platforms. However, I'm a bit confused about what you said about the boat. You can actually see the whole boat, it's even got a camera attached to it, did you mean see the boat centered on the screen or something?
Edit: nevermind, I see what you mean, I was playing with 2 players so the view was different, I've modified the boat's camera now.

@dragonvarsity: thank you! I made this a F4F thread, so I should tell you, if you want me to check out your levels or something, please say so.

No problem, I don't really need any feedback on my level since I've pretty much ended updates for it and working on my next but thank you for offering to. I also noticed you've mentioned your psn in your profile, good idea.

Nice level. It is filled with amazing visuals and the obstacles are worth a good platforming. The only problem is the moving platforms with fire obstacles. There's so many things in a way that makes it impossible to pass but I don't have problems with it but possibly anyone else will have a hard time pass through it. Overall good job. 4 stars.

I very much enjoyed playing your level. The gameplay is very cool - challenging and innovative too. I particularly liked the area where you make your way through fiery sections by dropping and grabbing and using moving platforms. It's true that parts are pretty difficult - that section in the top photo in the OP gave me some heartache. I lost about half my points there, I died so many times, but luckily you have some pretty big bubble stashes later on to make up for it. I loved the bit where the platforms magically appear to make a winding path/maze through the fire - very cool moment.

The visuals are really striking too. The room with the decorated golden screens was stunning and the garden sections were very lush. The first time I played, though. I was a little puzzled by the outside section at the end of the level as after all the difficult platforming which had gone before I kept expecting there to be some trap or pitfall and I proceeded very warily, lol!

Honestly (even as a guy) the first thing I thought when I read the description was "Aww, that's sweet."

Anyway, I'll write my commentary as I play. I'm doing two player, so if there's something that's hard, you should know that it's because there's two of us and we can be frighteningly clumsy.

My first words upon entering the level were "OooOOoooh!" It's pretty awesome looking! The lack of music actually gives it a great feel. Nice "secret" points! (I might hide the rods, though).

If the stairs were more like a ramp, that would be great (it pushes you into the back level, then the water otherwise). Aya's "Garden of Goodies v5" shows a great way to make stairs that you don't have to jump up... check it out sometime!

Getting on the little girl's head was really hard... she was just a tad too tall. But again, nice secrets! On the zipline, though, some of the points were a *little* too low, so I had to reposition myself precariously on the sponge.

The little spinny sponges could be easier to maneuver... maybe if they were a *tad* bigger?

Breaking the window was awesome!

It was a very unclear as to what we were supposed to do in the x2 area. We finally figured it out, but grabbing that sponge through the wall is not what I expected. Also, I might've chosen a button instead of a lever for pulling the wall up. I also don't see the point of flying down where the jumping fire things are. All in all, we were both really confused, and some direction would've been nice. We actually literally got trapped down there, since that's where the checkpoint was and we lost our jetpacks. At that point we had to restart.

This level has great platforming and some awesome, unique design! There was a point, though, where you pop out of a checkpoint and you just fall to your death unless you're quick enough (neither of us are) to grab the sponge. Also, that area could use more checkpoints period.

The emitter path was AWESOME!!! Nice cart and boat, too. My friend was intent upon flipping the boat... and we did (but it was hard)!!!

The ending looks great, of course.

That was a fantastic level, minus the messy parts. Work those out and it'll be perfect! I give it :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3. I hope she enjoyed it as much as we did.

EDIT: I forgot... haha. Would you leave feedback on my level, Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy - Part II (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=33062-Commander-Keen-Goodbye-Galaxy-Part-II)? I'd appreciate it!

Thank you all for your comments, I have followed some of your suggestions.

I have made the moving platforms slower, so as to make it a bit easier, and added some hints in the x2 area. I know the whole x2 "puzzle" can feel far-fetched, but I took the idea from another co-op level and thought it was pretty clever, so I couldn't help the urge to gently borrow it.

It's yours to follow or not follow any of my suggestions, so no big deal.

I love difficult puzzles and was sad I couldn't figure it out... just a few tiny hints would help (I can check it again soon with a friend to see if the hints you added work). Honestly I think the main issue was we couldn't figure out, then I (on the right side) triggered a checkpoint. My friend died and ended up there with me. Then we flew up and around, got past the shooting fire, then landed at the checkpoint and took off the jetpacks--and got stuck. Forever. I think if you're gonna put checkpoints in the x2 area you're gonna run into that problem (unless each area with a checkpoint has a way out). I think the other issue is we didn't know what our goal was or if we'd already achieved it. If you tease the player with an obvious goal, they know what they're aiming for and they get a sense of satisfaction and finality when they DO get it.

Don't think I hate the level though... I definitely loved it.

EDIT:

Alright, tried it with a buddy and we figured it out. I LOVE it. I love the idea. And it worked, for the most part. There are a few things about it that make it difficult
-It's large--this means the camera angles change enough to where we get out of range for the checkpoint (especially the lower one). So when I die, my partner has to go all the way back to the start for me to respawn.
-Grabbing just before the fire is difficult. As in, the player up on top has to stand in EXACTLY the right spot for the lower to grab him.
-Getting up top with holding on to the guy with the jetpack was very, very hard for me. Perhaps something to grab onto so it's easier for me to get up there. He literally had to charge and fling me up there, which only worked after five or six tries.
-The checkpoint in the jetpack area can be an issue if the guy on bottom dies and it's the one that's triggered. It means we have to start all over.

Other than those issues, though, I think it's a great, great idea and when it worked I was almost giddy. Nice.

I think the only other problem I'm still having is with the checkpoint under the spinny-grab-thing. If both people are dead and spawn at the same time, it's impossible to grab onto it, thus killing us over and over until the platform comes. Also, the camera angle makes it so that if one person dies in the middle of the obstacle course, they'll respawn while the other person is in a pivotal area, thus probably killing them once again.

Other than that, though, still a good level and it stays :star::star::star::star::star: and <3ed with me.

Ryhas, I have tried fixing the issues with those checkpoints you mentioned. Removed the one in the jetpack area and the other one is now inside the wall, so you can just stand there until you decide to move on.

About the 2x, the player on top is supposed to stand on the small gaps in the floor so that the one below can easily grab him. Then the player on top just leads the way while the other is hanging on to him/her (I guess you already know this). I know it can be a bit challenging. And then at the jetpack, it's easier for the player with the jetpack to grab the one below (the R1 sticker here is located on top instead of on the bottom as a hint). Otherwise as you said, you'd have to be flung up to the top and that takes several tries.
I hope people don't get stuck there anymore

@ShamgarBlade: I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, I think my partner made a cardboard boat so it shakes too much. Sorry about that. Thank you

Nice visuals. I liked the water flowers the best, and the floppy doors, heh.
The drop down grab mechanic works well too.
There are some instances where it gets a little tricky (swinging onto the elevator platform, maybe add a pause setting?), but I liked the challenge.
Gets pretty and the end too.

I think its a beautiful stage but to be honest I think you have gone for style over substance in places, I played with my wife, we couldn't get the 2 player section to work and found the difficulty to fun ratio was outta sync

The part with the spikes and fire going up the 3 platforms and the stomping squisher (for want of a better description) was tedious in 2 player as the camera dragged you away a bit at the most inconvenient times though I believe it would have been very difficult still had the camera been perfectly placed

To be brutally honest I dropped the controller and let her finish it as I got a bit bored

I'm not sure if there's much you can do about that as it may be a matter of taste but we both felt the same way about it except the wife has a touch of OCD and wouldn't sleep for a week knowing she left it unfinished

3 stars from me though again I guess it depends on your taste in game styles

Take a look at mine, honest feedback would be appreciated, thanks

I tried this out just a few minutes ago and the first thing I'll say is I consider this is a hard level. In some parts I could see what I was supposed to do but I just kept dying over and over.

I uploaded a pic of the spot I thought was the hardest. It's right near the start were you jump a gap of fire onto a platform, but a thing comes down to crush you and your supposed to jump and grab a bar real quick. i'd slow down the speed of the piston on that thing some because after a bunch of atempts I was almost going to quit the level.

Also the pistons on the moving platforms after that seemed to fast as well. You sort of had to drop and run onto them to stay on or else you'd fall into fire.

Aside from those issues the level looked very nice and was well built. You used stickers and decorations to great effect and blended the look and music of the level very well. If you slow down the pistons on the few things I mentioned I think you'll get a higher completion ration on the level.

Hey there!

I played this level, and I liked it. I loved the way you decorated the level - from the use of glass flowers and such to the attentive stickering. I've never seen that blinds method you used before, and I loved that - It worked really well in favour of your oriental theme. I also liked the way you positioned the score bubbles so beautifully, and stickered them in different colours. The puzzles were quite good too - with great usage of the different layers with the R1 sections. The end was the best though - a kind of romantic carrige ride through a lovely garden - although I did have to pull it along myself, but I think that was intentional. The water use really added to the atmosphere well. I haven't tried any of the multiplayer bits yet though - but I'm sure they're good too!
Top marks! 5 stars!

If you want to check out my level, would be appreciated! Mining Mishaps - link in sig!

Great level again!

I'll do just that, thank you.
The other platforms, however, I've already slowed down more times than I care to remember, so I won't be touching them anymore. Besides, there are enough infinite checkpoints scattered around the place.

@standby250: yeah, you're supposed to push the carriage, although it's kind of pointless if you're playing alone thanks for the feedback, I'll check out your level soon.

Hi, I played the level yesterday. It is in general is a good level, overall I gave you 4 stars. The visual are simple, but I think in this case that is and adventage, because the level is quite clean. The gameplay is good, the level was fun. Nevertheless It is not really original, but rather classic. Anyway it was not boring at all. Regarding the difficult, it is pretty hard, specially some areas owithf spikes. It is almos frustrating, and I was about to give up several times. Perhaps you could try to modify the harder areas. The final part is really nice visually, I loved it

Would you like to give me some feedback in my level "The tanks factory 2"?
