Carriable Tweakable Material! (Keys! Crates! Miniguns!)
Archive: 11 posts
Something I think would work great for people who want to make their levels look just how they want would be small boxes which, when grabbed with R1 is held in a certain way. The tweak menu will define whether sackboy holds the item in one or two hands and whether its held in front or to the side. For example, with a key switch attached, sackboy will hold an item in his hand to carry with him (instead of pushing an oversized key in front of him, for example). Choosing to hold the item in front, however, can give the look of a metal detector, a flashlight, shield, or a variety of one-handed weapons. A two handed item would work exactly the same; holding to the front like a remote control, or to the side like a heavy briefcase, power supply or even a minigun with the right decorations! Carrying one of these items would work like a powerup, however, being carried until cancelled with the circle button. However, with a microchip with a magnetic key used could add a lot of possibilities and gameplay mechanics! In Create mode, the item would appear as a small block of a unique material, but with a strict size limit. Changing the shape and adding stickers and decorations, then tweaking for the item to work just as you want it to would add a whole extra side to custom levels. Be it making a minigun by adding a microchip with sounds and emitters, a boombox with music to carry around with you, or a shield to hide yourself from the hazards around you. | 2010-08-16 21:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
Have you met the power gloves? | 2010-08-16 22:01:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |
Have you met the power gloves? Well with the power gloves you can only hold things above your head. He's talking about holding the object in different positions, not just above your head, but anyways. This sounds like a neat idea, but not something that I would use very much. | 2010-08-16 22:18:00 Author: Amigps Posts: 564 |
Of course, but holding an item over your head doesn't have the same effect as what I wrote about, especially when you want the right look for a LBP2 cutscene. | 2010-08-16 22:24:00 Author: Unknown User |
I want to know if you can make sure an item stays upright while holding it. For example, if you want someone to carry a big spotlight, you need it to be facing forward! | 2010-08-16 22:33:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |

Oh yeah - forgot about the gyroscope Still, I'd love to be able to hold items in different ways.. ah well, if LBP2 is half as creative as I expect, then I'll figure something out | 2010-08-17 09:59:00 Author: Unknown User |
Just a side question; weren't they Magic Gloves? | 2010-08-17 15:57:00 Author: Unknown User |

Just a side question; weren't they Magic Gloves? They were initially magic gloves, but that was just a beta name. Power gloves are their official title. | 2010-08-17 23:44:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |
Oh, I thought it was vice versa. My stand corrected. | 2010-08-18 17:52:00 Author: Unknown User |
