Oh the memories...

Archive: 25 posts

now, with LBP2 coming very soon, I just about think its time to sum up all the memories we've had in little big planet... I'll share with you the 1st time I ever heard of and played littlebigplanet...

well, it was a bit ago now and I was at my friends place, he had just goten a ps3, and he went to a game hire store to get a game... there were also like 2-3 other people... so 4-5 players, LBP was the only 4 player game there, of course, he had not played it, or heard of it, just like me. So he got it out and we opened it up and all the stuff... and of course, we played the 1st few story levels, we all know none other than the guardens, getting a trusty skate board... this is were my memory gets a bit sketchy. so after that we found the best thing in the little big planet universe... create mode! and we did what any sane person who doesn't know what to do... why make a massive skate board ramp, messed around with that for a while and yeah... good times...
I ended up getting LBP and a PS3 for cristmas that year
so, tell us your storys of littlebigplanet. they'll be interesting, i'm sure of it!

Well I went to YEAH_NAH's house, and he had just bought LBP. He'd been droning on about it for days. Then I went to his house, we played some levels, he told me I sucked, and it was loads of fun! Then June came and I got a PS3, and bought LBP.2010-08-16 11:37:00

Well, I've known about LBP ever since it came out. For some reason I thought it was for PC. A wasted trip to Wal-Mart I must say.

However I didn't think anymore of it till August 2009, when I thought I could get a PS3 and LBP for my birthday. Of course, I asked my dad who I figured would agree, and luckily I did. I was then in a state of eternal happiness and spent HOURS a day watching LBP videos (jkthree's the most). Then the day came. My grandparents and 3 year old cousin were visting. I came home from some store 3 days before my ACTUAL birthday with my cousin and grandpa..to find a pink birthday party .

My sister handed me LBP and I was all '' then I was like 'Wait, I have to wait 3 days for my PS3 '. Then I went into my room and BAM. Ps3. By this time it was almost night. I spent most of the night playing LBP. Good times

Heh. I just remember how awful I was at create mode. I had done hardly any tutorials and hadn't unlocked a whole lot in story mode when I first set out to create. I used to dissect other people's rocket things to get the rockets (didn't know where to get them myself). After some unlocking progress, I set out to make a dragon. It was hideous (I hadn't figured out that there were thin layers yet so its segmented neck took up two full thick layers) and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to make a permanently opening door in its chest (the idea was that once it was weakened enough, the door opened and you'd go in and rip his heart out, which would kill him).

After unlocking more stuff and getting a better handle on things, I made my first mech. It was ugly and awkward. It could jump, but not well, and it liked to drag its head on the ground while walking. That started an obsession and I've been making mechs ever since, culminating in my VT-5A Lightning (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=27374-Most-Advanced-Bipedal-Mech-in-LBP-VT-5-Lightning): the most advanced mech in lbp (shameless plug).

Also, in those early days, I hadn't looked for any actual lbp sites, so I was mostly hanging out and asking questions on the Gamefaqs lbp board.

I rember something like it was yesterday. When i first got it, i was makeing a car with a track. my first time, i tryed to look for the rubber, but insted, i got dark matter. so i ended up with a long wood block with dark matter wheels. so i was wondering why my car just stayed in the air like that. so i just made an all wood car with HUGEwood wheels. i used a 3 way switch. so i kept bounced around. backwards and fowards and on and on. when i finaly get it going, i kept dieing with the squeshing sound.
Also, i rember my first time playing some awsome levels.
I also rember the H4H levels (One of my meny bad memories)

I remember when LBP came out I knew nothing about it. I didn't even buy it, my brother preorded it. Glad he did though! Funnily enough he doesn't even play it, hasn't even finished story mode. I wasn't really too interested in the story mode either or even comuunity levels for that matter. I hadn't completed half of story mode before I was creating. Me being me the very first thing I made was a car. Well it was actually just a box stickered red with a 3-way switch in it connected to the motor bolts on the 2 thick-layer rubber wheels stuck on the front. I think I spent about 2hrs playing with just that car!2010-08-17 11:37:00

Well, I'd been kept in the loop prior to release and sniffed out any & every rumour, trailer or screenshot that I could find.
When I first heard the buzz around LBP, it sounded like someone had taken my dream of what a game should be and then made it real.

So I was really excited about it's release... pre-ordered and bought on the 1st day... and haven't really stopped playing it since.
I'll go through a week or two where other games take my fancy.. but even as I'm playing these other new games I'm always thinking in the back of my head "How can I turn this game into a LBP level?"

I've been following LBP since 2007... so my memory of the really early stuff is sketchy.

I remember the old LBPC, though. Back when the forum wasn't the main page. There was actually a real homepage. I think that might've been before CC took over properly and renovated the site.

Anyway, my memory really starts about this time two years ago, though. When the original LBP beta had been announced. The hype was incredible. When the beta came out it even crashed websites. Good times. I didn't get a key straight away, I ended up getting one from a Spanish website called MeriStation But then after that I got like 5 more keys and gave them all away to people on here. The beta was loads of fun. Not really that different to the full game, but still a great experience.

I pre-ordered LBP as soon as I'd played the beta. I was going to wait until Xmas at first, because at that point, I didn't actually have a PS3. I was using my brother's, but I finally decided I needed to get one myself (after being a devoted Xbox 360 player). So I then had a pre-ordered copy of LBP and no PS3 to play it on so I finally brought one about 3 days before LBP came out (it came with Far Cry 2... so for a few days all I had was Far Cry 2's map editor to keep me going). A few days later I came home from school, to find LBP waiting for me. The day before release! I was super excited. Played it for hours. Loads of people were messaging me asking how I'd got it early, and I was like "I don't know, lol".

Well, now it's two years later and I still play almost daily. It's weird, really. I get tired of games quickly, and yet I think the longest I've gone without playing is only a week or two. I guess you could say it's been quite a big part of my life for the last two years, I suppose.

Ah, good times. And what now? Well, it gets to start all over again with LBP2

And we'll realise that all those hours we wasted learning and perfecting the different logic tools in LBP will be rendered completely pointless when it can all be done by a single microchip in LBP22010-08-18 16:14:00

I remember being on my iphone a lot. I played several games and there was this one to waste time called pocket god. Pretty fun game and I followed their blog. There was a post they made talking about pocket god little big planet levels. The level looked really cool and I didn't know anything about it. Several months later I was googling something (not completely sure) but I found a site for the little big planet gme and knew I heard it before. I looked on the site and it looked really cool. I even googled if the game was any good. A lot of people said how amazing it was and I got it for christmas. Well technically it wasn't the 25th but instead the 23rd when I got it and all. (We were gonna leave the 24th and celebrate christmas at a relative's) So when going to gamestop, my brother got MW2 since he loves shooters and I was going to get little big planet. There were so many games and I wasn't fully sure. I decided to pick up LBP and look at the back. I looked on the back to find out it had over 80 awards. I remember hearing it was 30 bucks. I asked how much and he said it was 60 bucks. At first I thought it was a rip-off but I still had to get it...... Turned out it was game of the year edition so that makes sense xD plus sackboy was even cuter in the game than on the cover.2010-08-28 13:59:00

I remember the first day I got LBP. I didnt have a PSN account so it was just me and my little brother making inventions thinking they were creative. Then I got a PSN account.... oh snap. We were blown away by what other people had made. It was amazing. Its sad though. I never really got around to finishing any levels besides one that was just a test with some tools. Ah well. At least I raised a small group of people in an army for a lil while.2010-08-28 19:18:00

When I first heard about LittleBigPlanet, it was on the Burnout Paradise forums... back in 2006, or 2007. I remember people posting pictures of it and I thought 'God, this looks like a horrible game, besides Burnout will be ten times better!' I decided I'd buy it, I think week one, and have enjoyed every second of it!

It's funny how other people from the Burnout community (Yes, you know who you are! Nuke) bought LBP too...

Yeah, I remember 'World of Colour'!

I've known about LBP ever since they showed a mini clip of 4 sackpeople running when they announced the PS3 along with other game clips....

little did i know that those 4 sackpeople would run my gaming life....day by day wondering if SONY would ever release information about these mystery beings...then MediaMolecule came into the picture (cant remember how) and i found their website and the project called...LittleBigPlanet...then memories fade and the last thing i remember before buying this game and enjoying it in the first 10 seconds was the Steve Irwin type videos that came out

Ah, the glue glitch...

Fun for hours.

Oh! And the first 3 days when the servers weren't up yet...

And the lag! Oh boy, taking 10 minutes to load a Green Hill Zone level.

And the creativity! I <3 RAMP.

In all honesty, that might've been what made me start to love LBP. Seriously.

I knew about this game since the release of this game and want to play right then, but could not do it, but a few months ago I had the chance to try my hand it.im. and I really enjoyed nearby for platinum, I only need to collect bubbles, ACE levels, and get the trophy creation.2010-08-31 17:02:00

Anyone remember when undo-ing required a network call, and could sometimes take like 10 minutes? That was probably the most annoying bug LBP has ever had, IMO.2010-09-01 15:45:00
