Sounds on a cicruit board? Pottential to store an entire music level?

Archive: 35 posts

I thought I saw/heard something about sounds on a cuircuit board (no source and no credibility)

but if its TRUE, that means we can create our own music very easily, and have it all play from one little object, instead of trying to make a giant music box stalk your sack.

Yeah, this is true. Not only can you have the sound objects on the circuit board, but you can have all the logic to make it run, and loop if you want, on the circuit board as well. Pretty awesome, huh?2010-08-16 04:16:00

You must of heard that on the videos of create mode made by gevurah22.2010-08-16 06:11:00

It would be pretty stupid if you could not do that 2010-08-16 06:19:00

I saw them do this on one of the videos in Sackinima's youtube channel. The one where they make the ufo, they also give it a beat. Pretty cool.2010-08-16 08:15:00

keep in mind that on many occasions it has been leaked that lbp2 might have some sort of music maker

there might be an even simpilar way to make music and store it

Yeah. Everyone is hoping there will be an easier way. But no body has any info really 'proving' it.

Although I'm hoping that the music maker is something they're intentionally keeping 'hidden' so that once we get the game we all start screaming "OH MY GOD GOD GOD! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! THANK YOU MEDIA MOLECULE!"

Hahahaha.

Yup, pretty much what im hoping for to hahaha. Maybe even something that you use on the computer as apposed to the PS3? Would make making music a lot easier.

Yep, you can indeed!

I hope we can put stickers on the circuit board. Why, you ask? Because if you've got one board with all your logic it might get confusing, so I think being able to put down stickers could be useful because you could maybe put a box around each section, or maybe colour code different parts of your logic, etc. The possibilities, as they say, are endless.

One could also use cardboard/other material letters to explain it. The Circuitboard compresses their thermo eatage too.

(Eatage = consumption)

I don't think that the circuit board is an actual physical object, which means I don't think you can glue materials to it.2010-08-16 22:05:00

You could just put multiple circuit boards on one circuit board. Each of the circuit boards on the circuit board could be a section of the song. This way it is organized somewhat.2010-08-16 22:08:00

To answer the OP, yeah, you could store an entire music level on a microchip.2010-08-17 04:52:00

We've not seen the music composing tool, guys. I don't think MM will rely on circuit boards containing LBP1-style music tracks.2010-08-17 05:01:00

True. But we haven't seen anything of the music composing tool. Which makes me think there may not be.

Am I wrong to say you can do the old-skool pistons 'n' magne keys- styled logic inside Microchips?
So why not glueing?

(If emitters, motorbolts and such can't be applied inside Microchips, I won't even bother to use them!)

Here's what I (think I) know:

- Emitters yes

- Motors no

- Magnetic Keys & Switches yes

- "old-skool pistons 'n' magne keys" no

- There are logic tools for every type of piston logic that you can do.

Therefore, there's no need to have the ability for pistons in microchips. And saying you won't use it because you have to adapt to something more powerful is a lame reason.

They'd better be able to store sounds and sequencers. How else would Hall of the Mountain King work?2010-08-17 08:17:00

Am I the only one who's perfectly content with making music LBP style or LBP2 style, using micro chips, for that matter?2010-08-17 08:22:00

Circuit board space (since this is not only microchip) is immobile space that only switches can be placed and everything you place there will effect object that have that circuit board, like those switches been plugged to that object directly

In other word microchip is nothing more then cosmetic element of the game and it not have much to do with you logic other then compressing it to one point.

Guess what real-life microchips are exactly the same, it's a technology to shrink electronic circuit boards in to small boxes with input and outputs, element inside them are the same as in normal electronic boards (resistors, capilators , transistors), ofcorse our real world is more complex in physics then LBP and you won't get same parameters from elements in real microchip to those big ones on electronic boards (you can't do good sound amplifier with transistors inside microchip for example). But LBP microchip mimics exactly same idea as real-life microchips

The pro with the physical pistons 'n' magne keys is that they're EXTREMELY customizable...

got to start learning to think complexily...

Yeah, great feature.
Plus you can hear sounds from any part of the level if you want it that way.

Man, this will be so great, hopefully the new chip design is kind to the thermo, and allows people to make entire songs so that other people can use them in their levels.
Also hoping the author credit (speculation) goes well, so people are more likely to share their music.

Mag keys and mag switches can be put in microchips but there is not much reason, unless you want a key or switch on the object, if you have a key on the circuit board switches will be activated when the microchip gets near, etc.2010-08-17 12:02:00

With Mm's new logic objects, there isn't that much to compress inside that microchip...

I give up now... wotevar.

Ther is a reason ;] Wireless communication between objects
Read about my wireless logic theory (Nobody cared about this thread >.<, maybe i picked wrong section) :

There is, you got small vechicule and you want to make logic for it, what you gonna do? make big chank of black matter beside it or make microchip and have everything in one point and you can hide and show it

What, and you don't think that something designed specifically to replace them aren't?

What part of compressing that butt load of logic for the calculator down to one microchip do you not understand?

Have fun having people laugh at you while you make thermo-eating logic while they're using microchips to make much more complex things with NO impact on thermo.

So back to the original topic, look like we don't need to use selectors and sound objects to make music, we got full editor in form of (As i expected) sequencer2010-08-17 22:19:00

Then surely Mm has a "toggle" logic, as in LBPC's LogicPack for example?
And there's more to moan about

Yes.

the circuit board has logic components built in.

its like scripting, to a weak degree.

ands, ors, ons/offs/ all kinds of value tracking, ect.

Lol I love it. Literally a few hours after you say there may not be a music maker, they reveal it at gamescom.

Well, it's far far from scripting, you need to care about things that only real script interpreter should care about. It's more like digital electronic boards then scripting.

And also logic switches are not part of circuit boards, they normal switches that we use in LBP1 and we can use them outside
