Thoughts on F4F *NEW USERS CHECK THIS OUT!*

Archive: 14 posts

There's been a lot of confusion towards F4F lately and I'm here to clarify some things to new users, and some old users that still don't get it. These are a couple things I've been dealing with:

A user leaving me 1 or 2 sentences and asking for Feedback
A user not asking for Feedback when posting on one of my F4F threads, but then yelling at me because I didn't give him feedback!
Me asking for Feedback (with a link to my level) on a F4F thread, and he/she never responds

---

So that's what I've been dealing with. By the way, lbpisawespme, I have nothing against you, I'm not mad, I'm just making a point. For point number one I want people to know there is a rule against leaving one or two sentences then asking for feedback! ConfusedCartman (sitecreator) quotes:

Feedback should be constructive. Creators are looking to improve their skills, so leave feedback that will help them grow as a Creator. This means being thorough - leaving one or two sentences won't cut it in most cases.

The best way to go on this is have a standardized rating system like I do (when I want F4F). If you want to see what mine looks like and maybe base yours on mine, look at my Review Thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=32001-Valmassoi-s-PSP-Reviews!). Also when lbpisawespme says,

i am sorry man it is just i like real patapomn game better i mean it is ok but not really the beat part i loiked the platform.

That's not exactly constructive (or even makes sense) and it bothers me that you ask for feedback later:

hey man i reviewd youre feedback for feedback level can you givve feedback for my kings of argno level.

By the way, those quotes by him didn't even take place on the thread for my level, it was on a contest thread. The rules say if you want Feedback:

...leave feedback in their thread.

One more thing, there's nothing wrong with leaving a few sentences on a F4F level, just don't ask for feedback on your level.

---

As for point 2, one time a user posted "passable" feedback on my level but didn't ask for feedback on his. So I wait a couple days and I get this message of him yelling at me because I didn't give him feedback on one of this levels!

ConfusedCartman clearly states this rule:

Once someone leaves feedback, they will specify which level they'd like feedback for. Play the level, navigate to that level's thread in the Showcase, and leave feedback in their thread.

keywords: THEY WILL SPECIFY

Include a link to the level you want feedback for. You can either include a link in every feedback post you leave, or, like many members do, you can add the link in your signature in some fashion. Look around at posts in the Level Showcase for examples if you aren't sure how to set it up for yourself.

So that's just it, if you want Feedback tell me you do and leave me a link, it's not that hard!!! There's a link button!!!

---

As for point 3, this is the most common. I generously give a detailed review on their F4F level thread, and they never respond. Ever. Once again, I pull out the rulebook to show you that ConfusedCartman says:

Once someone leaves feedback, they will specify which level they'd like feedback for. Play the level, navigate to that level's thread in the Showcase, and leave feedback in their thread.

He also lists a step by step process to clear up F4F abusers, which I followed until he left feedback on my level.

---

Listen, I know I'm naggy but I still believe there are hundreds of users out there that obviously don't know how F4F works. I've posted this so more users will understand, because they don't read ConfusedCartman's F4F rule thread. If any of you still don't get it, make sure you check out the Almighty F4F Rules (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=22700-Feedback-for-Feedback) before you post anymore in our PSP section of lbpc. It will prevent further confusions and problems in the future. Thank you.

You're points can't be poked around with. I hope people understand how it works now.
By the way, I hardly ever ask people to leave feedback on my levels. Probably because they're old.
If I don't ask for feedback, then you are free to ignore my level threads.

Yeah, I usually write "F4F link" at the end of my posts if want the gesture returned.
If I don't mention it, the person shouldn't feel obligated to do so in any way.

However it is nice to return the favour if they took the time to leave some constructive feedback on your level.
Even if I'm not looking for feedback, I am more inclined to play F4F levels as the creator is making an effort to get noticed/become better.

"TESTIFY!"

Sorry couldn't resist

Great Points I haven't really given feedback but I tend to paragraph it into

PROS

CONS
(detailed description of what's wrong)

BROKEN BITS

SUMMARY

That way I always give detailed constructive feedback.

Hey! I totally forgot to comment on this earlier. I read it, which reminded me to complete some of my pending F4Fs, then didn't come back to post.

Well anyway, thanks for creating this thread - it's HUGELY helpful! A definite must-read for anyone and everyone creating (and posting) levels.

Thanks for the guide Val! I never use the system since my creation skills are...sub-par, but this could be really helpful to lots of users. One idea to improve feedback quality I have is to implement a standardized rating system. Ideas anyone?2010-08-21 01:47:00

*Bump* Sorry people, I want more users to see this thread...

Why thank you Taffey

One idea to improve feedback quality I have is to implement a standardized rating system. Ideas anyone?

I have a standardized rating system:
Name of Level
Score: ?/10
By: Username (PSN)

Beginning Comments.

Story: /10
If you don't have a story, this will be N/A and will not affect your score.

Music/SFX Choice: /10
Based on where SFX are, and what music is used throughout.

Appearance: /10
This is based on your corner editing, material use, and sticker usage.

Creatures/Objects: /10
If you don't have any enemies or objects this will be N/A as well and will not affect your score.

Gameplay: /10
This section is what really affects your score. I judge on originality and fun-ness.

Overall: /10 (not an average)
Where I give you your final score and a few closing statements as well as your :star:s and maybe <3.
