Loch'd Up! Part 1Bombw87
Sackboy has travelled to Scotland in search of the Loch Ness Monster. The adventure begins in a village next to the loch.
Hey guys back from a little break from lbp, full of fun ideas, hope u have fun playing. Part 2 shouldn't take so long and will be a small but action packed level. I started it ages ago with the water pack, but had trouble finding inspiration but got there in the end haha. I like to think its all an original idea by me, so i hope u like what my brain came up with lol. thanks to austinmerr for help

I saw this level a while back and I was blown away by it! Needless to say now I'm speechless! You created some very interesting challenges within this level! But the thing that I liked most was the scenery because it wasn't your normal under water scenery! Play it and you will understand what I mean! Reminded me most of Sack in the Box because of some of the cardboard visuals! All in all, a great level by my friend Bombw87 I also just realized I love exclamation points!2010-08-15 21:40:00

Just played. Visually and gameplay wise, it was spectacular. I loved the transitions to the different areas.

My favourite was the underwater city

1 thing to change:

On the last rotating fish obstacle in the underwater cave, it goes a bit too fast, It's completable but if you miss the timing by even a split second you die D: Maybe make it 0.5 slower?

5 stars and heart. Can't wait for part 2!

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! I have literally finished the level and I am still in amazement of it. I can't flaw it. Your music selection was great and your characters were really good. I loved your style; you haven't tried to make the level really realistic but kept it looking very "LittleBigPlanet-y" and still very atmospheric.

This level deserves the 5 stars and the heart I gave it.

When you can, could you check out my "The Calamity of Colourful Cubes" level? For F4F and all.

The link's in my sig.

I only stay a couple of miles away from the shores of Loch Ness.

For this level to be acurate you will need to be harrased by Buckfast drinking neds on the way there... and then once there, it should be strewn with litter and souvenir shops - oh and there should be NO Loch Ness monster.

Will play this later and give this my thoughts as a Scot

Edit: from the pics it looks like you've got quite an idealised view of Scotland... it should be greyer with much uglier pre-fabricated buildings - Or "Schemes" as they are known here (housing schemes)

Now that was an interesting level.

Pros:

The desgin, I really loved it.
The enemies, especially the monster, very well built.
The humor (Secret doorbell of doom ahahh xD)
The story ^^

Cons:

Some of the enemies moved too fast.
Bubble generators too far from eachother.

Things to work on:

Couldn't think of any

Also, what was the trick for the barn puzzle? I didn't figure it out, but I completed it

Very good level, especially on design :star::star::star::star::star:<3
Waiting for the next part ^^

Whoa! Right from popping out of the bubble, I can already say I'm gonna like this. GREAT look. I love it. And the trees, swaying, looking like idiots, are totally awesome. I think the only thing I noticed is your clouds are flat on the bottom... perhaps billow those out a bit?

The Scotsman and the sheep were great! And I love the buildings!

I did get caught in the middle of the waterwheel. I got out, but it's there. Also, maybe hide the motor bolt?

Nice boat, nice windmill, nice evil storm, nice "monster"!! (maybe hide the bolts, though, and I'm not a fan of it killing me...)

After that, though, I pretty much just became immersed. The spinning fish are awesome, but a tad difficult to get around.

The whole idea of the evil underwater kingdom is fantastic! Using the axe and freeing the fish were highlights. It looks GREAT, especially around the area where you free the fish. Good use of sound effects, too. And the "dogfish"

(It was at this point I accidentally pushed restart... aghh... oh well, I can go through it again )

There's a small part where, when you enter the village, there's a small step in front of the first cottage. Every now and then, instead of jumping over it, LBP switches layers on me. It's a little annoying--maybe if you made that step smaller?

Out of curiosity, I jumped out of the boat. Good that it takes you to the cavern, though the lighting and water levels get really weird. Maybe create it so that, if the players DO jump out of the boat, it bypasses the effects for the monster and goes straight to the effects for the water cavern, because the green silhouette made me unable to see what was going on and I died a billion times. And a couple extra bubble machines would help the players like me who tend to go the wrong way and nearly drown.

Also, the fish got stuck in a small gap when I freed them, and I couldn't get past. I drowned, and then when I tried to swim above them, it didn't work because the level wouldn't let me out of the water. I had to restart again.

Apparently the "squishy squishy" camera doesn't always work. Not sure why.

The underwater villages is absolutely beautiful! All your various fish characters are so amazing, and I loved the old fish and what happened to his place was highly comical.

And the rest of it was really awesome! This is seriously one of the best levels I've played in a long time (minus the headache that resulted from my curiosity ). :star::star::star::star::star: and a well deserved <3. Don't be surprised if this sucker gets spotlighted.

I'd be honored if you'd provide feedback on my level, Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy - Part II (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=33062-Commander-Keen-Goodbye-Galaxy-Part-II)

So THAT'S what was wrong with the lighting. I tried once and thought it was fantastic, but the fish wheels killed me. Tried again and bypassed the incredible monster cinema by jumping in the water, only to find that the lighting made it impossible to navigate down there. I'm a klutz underwater anyway.

So I'll try it again and just have to grind my teeth and bear through the eyeball popping creature sequence so the light will be right down there. I'll live.

Good catch, Ryhas!

edit: btw, I like the flat bottomed clouds.

Gah. Lighting issues again. I can't see a thing in here. I used stickers to brighten the place up so I could find the axe, then I broke it on something.

Hey so i just finished playing ur level and i loved it!

The style is very unique and cartoony, its awesome! I loved how this also meant that the level could be pretty long without a feeling of being scarce.

The story was simple yet told effectively and pretty funny in places too.

Extra positives:

Nice scene with the monster coming out the water.
Funny creatures below ground.
An underwater level i actually enjoyed.
Interesting boss concept with staying on the button for long enough to blow it open.

Cons:
Underwater chase scene? Didn't work for me, I either spawned in the direct line of an electric or spiky and instantly died again or was caught by the monster. It felt a little slow and controlled too.

Not much else to say really.

Fantastic level, 5 stars and a heart.

Deserves a lot more plays.

So I played this level - and I have to say, as a Scot I find it incredibly racist.

Racist and hilarious

The Bag-Pipe Mayor especially.

Over-all a great water themed level... lots of character if not lots of detail.

The only critism I have of the level is the occasional visible motor-bolt/sprung bolt etc - not sure if it was deliberate, but I think would look a bit better if they were made invisible.

5 Stars & a Heart, looking forward to part 2.

Dont know where to start
this level was awesome. I dont like water levels. Seriously, tell me anyone who loved the underwater levels in super mario world or diving in general in videogames And to be honest, for me, no one really delivered a solid underwater level (please tell me if i missed them). But I dont want to spread my hate on water levels in this thread, lol

Now to your level. This underwater level was fun. It was challenging. Air-refillers perfectly placed and no use (or little (dont remember)) of infinite life checkpoints. Keep that. I'm also doing that! Infinite lives -meh- they take away the challenge. Underwater chase scene by a rusty Loch Ness Monster LOL genious! The whole Loch Ness Conspiracy is awesome. And when I just thoght the level was over (which happened quite often! (which is good!)) you amazed me even more. Your level must be overheated! or you sold your soul to the thermo, dont know and i dont want to know it to be honest

To wrap this up. Your level has got the love!

haaa ur feedback gave me such a big smile lol
i know man im with you on the infinite lives thing! except i did put a couple in the end of my level out of fear from angry frustrated players givin me bad ratings haha
and also with the air bubbles, i found on most water levels who dont put the scuba gear in the level, instead they put loads of air bubbles so there isnt an actual challenge to keep your air counter up!
haha a couple of twists in the story in the next level!!

Nice level. The visuals aren't perfect, but the gameplay itself is worth more than visuals and level had some great ideas. However there are some things that should be fixed. First up is when you encountered the mechanical lochness monster while riding on the boat, I jumped out of the boat and after I got teleported to another area, everything looks too dark and the water hasn't rise for a moment. That was actually be my fault because I shouldn't get off the boat until the lochness monster squishes me. The other is after you freed the fishes, the huge army of fish got stuck on those edge materials because of the traffic and the top door couldn't be opened until the fishes reached it so I had to restart. Overall this level seems to had some great ideas and I see why this level had such a spotlight. Good work. 4 stars.

F4F any one of "The Hero Chronicles" levels listed in my signature. I recommend LV3-LV6.

Absolutely fantastic level. The visuals reminded me of a Mediamolecule level, and the gameplay was top notch. The music was well placed, but I felt as if the boss needed a different track other than "deep blue quay" Try something like "battles", or maybe even something from the mavel pack to add some more intensity to the boss.
One game breaking bug: At the end of the level, my friend joined and the screen went really dark and I couldnt see anything. I popped after a few minutes of trying to find m way around and spawned underneath the metal bar that ends the upwards chase scene. It looks as if the checkpoint would move, but it didnt. I could move and had to restart. Other than a slight bug, This level is a perfect example of how good gamplay and storytelling can come together and create an amazing level. :star::star::star::star::star:'s and a big <3 Amazing work!

Only thing that needed fixing is new music when the boss shows up. But it seems you have fixed that.

First of all... I would to say that I just fell in love with the level the minute I saw the title! (And Nessie of course! )

I would have never thought that exploring caves of the Loch and defeating the infamous Loch Ness Monster could be so entertaining and nerve-wracking at the same time! The journey to get there was quite something too! As I progressed through the level there were so many wonderful, light-hearted characters to accompany the compelling story that was unfolding. Especially at the end when there was the twist!

I think the music helped tell the story and seamlessly matched the visuals to make me crave for the sequel! I see that before 'Deep Blue Quay' was the track chosen for the chase scene but now 'Battles' take its place. In my opinion the change is very abrupt and I would think there may be some other music choices that match 'Deep Blue Quay' so that the change could be seamless.

I had a few peeves like any other level I play (I always find one ) I think that the lighting and sound effects were excellent in some areas but lacked in very many spots. It was as if you devoted time to some sections but left other areas crying for effects.
I found it tricky to get the hang of timing in the boss area. I died many times and found it to be quite boring before I finally "escaped." Maybe you could add two stages and maybe differ the attack of the boss and make it a bit easier!

I gave it :star::star::star::star: and a wonderful <3! It was a fantastic level with a unique style that reminded me of the good ol' days of LBP (You know, a simpler time ).

Great level. Really deserved the spotlight. I loved how you did the loch ness monster, it was pretty simple but effective.

I had a few hiccups though. Once I was underwater, it felt like I always had to rush for the checkpoint to get the to the bubbles. I wanted a little time to explore.
Oh, and the boss near the end felt too easy in my opinion.

However, I loved the humour, the gameplay and everything in between. ZOMG?!? What will happen to sackboy?

Really well done, I gave it 5 stars.

This is a pretty cool level.

It's surprising because the initial impression is that it will be a simple walk in the park, but as you go along it turns out to be a complete and challenging underwater adventure. I liked the underwater chase scenes the most, really well done!

Here is a video of the level:

Wow! Loch'd Up is very funny and very entertaining! You're an expert on making the right atmosphere, like you did in Sack in the Box. Fantastic. And I think you are the most creative creator in LittleBigPlanet. Because you can make levels that contains a story that actually is good! And that's very important cause when you make sequels people wanna play them! And I can't wait for Part two (If my English sucks it's because I'm not from England....or USA..)2010-09-02 18:30:00

haha thanks man, yeh i think story is my main thing, i jus try to keep it simple and original and fun i think they make the best stories.
its so much more fun when the creator gives you reason to complete the level, to follow and unravel a story.
