UK release date?
Archive: 43 posts
Good news for the USA - the new release date is less than a week after the original one. But Mm and Sony are really dragging their heels announcing the new release date for UK and Europe. Could it be that they're concentrating their efforts on pressing the new US discs and not wasting their time with the continent across the pond until the US market is sated? I do hope not. | 2008-10-19 19:52:00 Author: FlowersInHisHair Posts: 126 |
Strangely, the UK was probably the first region that the revised released date was announced in... strange nobody seems to have realised: Source. Alot of us have realised, but we aren't sure if this site is telling the truth. We need to wait for sony to say something. Hope it does come out on oct. 31st though! | 2008-10-19 19:59:00 Author: Crowlerzors Posts: 241 |
I dunno...is it just me or does that source have a typo in it? The first thing that you will receive when you join Littlebigplanet is your own "avator" Shouldn't it be spelled "avatar"? | 2008-10-19 20:33:00 Author: Dabog Posts: 74 |
Ah... There we go then. It's fake. I don't think they would make a typo like that. Ok I take that back, it could just be a simple typo. There's still a possibility of Oct 31st though - http://www.psu.com/Media-Molecule-talks-LBP-delay,-reveals-new-release-dates--a0005127-p0.php | 2008-10-19 20:37:00 Author: Crowlerzors Posts: 241 |
I was sort of wishing that this would make them both release on the same day so that everyone gets it at the same time. That would be nice. | 2008-10-19 20:40:00 Author: Ozymandias Posts: 223 |
I am very skeptical about those two sources, since nowhere else seems to be repeating the 'info' contained therein. Least of all Media Molecule's own site, and the SCEE site (which doesn't seem to be working). In the meantime, I'll be over here, on the edge of my seat. | 2008-10-19 20:42:00 Author: FlowersInHisHair Posts: 126 |
Me too. I really want to hear some official comfirmation about this! | 2008-10-19 20:44:00 Author: Crowlerzors Posts: 241 |

Could it be that they're concentrating their efforts on pressing the new US discs and not wasting their time with the continent across the pond until the US market is sated? I do hope not. It was entirely Sony's decision... however, wasn't it published by SCEE? I can't see any reason they'd deliberately put another market ahead of the European one. Simple answer is to import it, even with the exchange rate as it is you might be able to get the game cheaper than the RRP in the UK. | 2008-10-19 20:44:00 Author: NeiborhoodLaika Posts: 8 |
But then we wouldn't be able to get DLC and stuff as easily - i'm pretty sure DLC is locked so it only works with the continent's disc. | 2008-10-19 20:45:00 Author: Crowlerzors Posts: 241 |
Yeah, it would be cheaper to import it. Here in Ireland, I'm being ripped off as usual...my local Gamestop is charging ?69.99 for it. | 2008-10-19 20:46:00 Author: Dabog Posts: 74 |

Before the current ridiculousness, the release date for USA was Oct 21 and UK/Eur was Oct 24, so another market was already ahead of the European one. The US market is undoubtedly bigger than the UK, so I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed it further here than the US, but I hope they don't. I want my game. Simple answer is to import it, even with the exchange rate as it is you might be able to get the game cheaper than the RRP in the UK. Yeah, but from what I gather DLC will be region-coded. I reckon we'll find out tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's a good date! | 2008-10-19 20:58:00 Author: Crowlerzors Posts: 241 |
I hope you're right! | 2008-10-19 21:30:00 Author: FlowersInHisHair Posts: 126 |
Yup, me too, I realllllly hope it's not November 14th for UK! I don't think I'll survive that long without LBP! | 2008-10-19 21:33:00 Author: Dabog Posts: 74 |
Yeah same, well I was told at the littlebigplanet popup thing in London that it should be out around the end of October, so I don't mind waiting that long. I hope they were right! | 2008-10-19 21:35:00 Author: Crowlerzors Posts: 241 |
Yeah even 31st October isn't too bad for me, I've only got a week left in school 'til my Halloween break anyway so it'd kinda work out | 2008-10-19 21:38:00 Author: Dabog Posts: 74 |
Same here. It's kinda irritating though, it was set to come out the day I break up from school for a week, but now it (might be) coming out at the very end of the break but as long as we get the game that's all that matters | 2008-10-19 21:42:00 Author: Crowlerzors Posts: 241 |
Yeah that's true. | 2008-10-19 21:43:00 Author: Dabog Posts: 74 |
But then we wouldn't be able to get DLC and stuff as easily - i'm pretty sure DLC is locked so it only works with the continent's disc. This seems to be the case. With any luck, confirmation coming soon. | 2008-10-19 21:46:00 Author: flakmagnet Posts: 1084 |
I was looking forward to LBP this Friday as it would help me beat the post-holiday blues (just come back from hols!) but now... waaah! | 2008-10-19 22:28:00 Author: FlowersInHisHair Posts: 126 |
so its nt the 24th for the uk no more even though they have adverts out for it???? p.s adverts on e4 music | 2008-10-19 23:03:00 Author: knightofhull Posts: 382 |
so its nt the 24th for the uk no more even though they have adverts out for it???? p.s adverts on e4 music I know, i've seen them (oddly enough at a club, last thursday?) But those adverts were made pre-'scandal' and it's probably too much of a hassle to remove them from circulation. | 2008-10-19 23:09:00 Author: NeiborhoodLaika Posts: 8 |
Ahh balls it better be out for friday cause im gagging for it lol and i got my weekend +fri off so i can play on it | 2008-10-19 23:12:00 Author: knightofhull Posts: 382 |
I'd put money on it not being out on Friday. The revised US release date is the 27th, I think it's highly unlikely we won't get it until a while after that. | 2008-10-20 10:29:00 Author: FlowersInHisHair Posts: 126 |
There will be some places that are too stubborn or stupid to have listened to the recall, and I can almost garuntee that on Friday, some copies will be sold. It's unlikely to be in any of the major chains, but you never know. | 2008-10-20 10:32:00 Author: flakmagnet Posts: 1084 |
Hope they announce whats going on soon. | 2008-10-20 10:42:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Can i ask whats the recall about???? or dosent anyone knw | 2008-10-20 12:42:00 Author: knightofhull Posts: 382 |
Yup, me too, I realllllly hope it's not November 14th for UK! I don't think I'll survive that long without LBP! HMV have got the 14th as the release date. If its true then I'm not going to bother getting it that's when COD 5 is out and that looks just like COD 4 with WW2 guns which will be great. If it comes out earlier I'll pick it up if not then Sony have just lost a sale. | 2008-10-20 12:47:00 Author: LittleBigChav Posts: 175 |

In the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand LittleBigPlanet should start to appear in stores no later than the week commencing Monday 3rd November. The UK has confirmed that it should be available on the 5th and no later. thats from http://www.mediamolecule.com/ i carnt wait its not fair | 2008-10-20 21:46:00 Author: knightofhull Posts: 382 |
Fair or not, it's the best we can hope for. At least it's not the 14th, which is what everyone feared initially. Personally I can't wait for this delay fiasco to fade from memory and for LBP to become known as the fun-filled creativity extravaganza we all thought it was going to be rather than the religion-beset politically-correct censorship issue it sadly seems to have become. | 2008-10-20 23:10:00 Author: FlowersInHisHair Posts: 126 |
Can't believe that you could've legally bought the game in like 6 hours (or whatever it is) in the US if it wasn't for this fiasco grr:eek: | 2008-10-20 23:18:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
