I've got a few black belts. Dunno why people go through years of training for one, you can get them at quite a reasonable price in most clothing stores.2010-08-15 00:20:00

Arnaldo l was just pointing out that you spelled tae kwon do wrong, you put know instead of kwon Rabid-Coot you don't understand.lf you train years to win your black belt they'll make it extra soft with used cotton and stuff so you can feel all that love and tenderness 2010-08-15 00:31:00

That doesn't sound very pratical for every day use.

I don't really know any of the established martial arts... Hapkido, Drunken boxing etc

But I do FULL CONTACT ARMOURED MEDIEVAL COMBAT

And I am skilled with a number of weapons

Just as a hobby y'know,
The martial art isn't as important as the discipline and muscle memory gained from doing it.

Going to start MMA.

If you want to get serious about it get into wrestling. Fighters with a strong wrestling base translate well into MMA.

have been training in Goju Ryu, a popular karate, in a VERY legit Dojo, its pretty much an ambassador for the Okinawa originated style... takes about 10 years for an average student to get a black belt

5 years and going

You do realise that to complete it you are going to have to make a couple of trips to Japan?

The top level adjudicators in most martial arts do not leave their home country, one of my friends is 4th or 5th dan tae-kwon-do and has had to make numerous trips to Korea for accreditation.

I took a lot of Pa Kua when I was in Junior High, if that counts. I eventually had to stop because I had to have health issues but I got pretty far into it.2010-08-18 13:45:00

I quit a karate course like fifteen years ago after a month. I did earn the yellow stripe. It's the first color you get. After that it's orange. - Red - green-blue-brown-black? I could be switching the green and blue now. Not sure if there's purple. Always half the color first - example white with a green stripe. Then full green. Maybe that changed. Those were the days.2010-08-21 18:21:00

thats cool and they still do that the white with a green stripe Then full green. Some karate schools like my they by this order.

no blet, white belt, yellow belt, orange belt, green belt, purple belt, blue belt, red belt, brown belt, brown with a black strip, black belt.

Dang thats pretty young, he would have had to start when he was about 6 years old.
Black belt only means you know the basics though..
I got a black belt in TKD when I was 13, started when I was 8.

yea if you start at a young age you will get a black belt by the time you are a teen. The bad thing is that I started wend I was 14 and its only been a year but still. Also strange that a 11 year old black belt was commanding a 23 year old it is so funny lol

We do the opposite. One of our instructors is a former NFL player for the Steelers and he makes us do crazy things like that. Normally the black belts are the ones that get abused the most. We get no benefits at all! Nothing!
