H4H is Mm's fault.

Archive: 8 posts

We all know what <34<3 is, and we all (probably) hate it.

The thing is, I believe that it's Media Molecule's own fault that levels such as these exist.

Why?

Because they have a trophy that requires you to get a certain number of hearts. You all probably know that. You all probably have it. The thing is, Little Billybob doesn't have time to sit down and make a decent level, but little Billybob wants all of the trophies so he can impress his friends.

So what does he do? He goes into create, places those garbage-looking trophies, and "H4H" in half a dozen magic mouths.

Then, he hopes he gets the trophy.

The thing is, there are tons of little billybobs.

I'm hoping LBP2 doesn't have a trophy for getting hearts. That alone will kill of half of the H4H levels.

No, unless MM somehow coded the human genome for wanting as much as possible for as little effort as possible. Which would be slightly awesome because then MM would be a time traveling god power played by Marlon Brando.

But yeah, even if there wasn't the trophy H4Hing would exist. Not everyone who H4hs is a trophy collector. Most of them are little kids who want hearts just because they want to be the best. Like youtube views and favorites. People still crave them just cause.

Now, doing that would get rid of trophy hunters who just want the trophies... but I feel like cutting off the Create and Share from trophies and leaving trophies to just Play would be disappointing and stuff, but that's just me. :/

You know what else is Mm's fault? These threads...

See, if Mm never made that create trophy, H4H wouldn't exist, and therefore this thread would not exist.

In all fairness though Mm have admitted this, about 1 million times.

And then the phrase 'H4H" Would not exist and..
The H4H levels wouldn't exist so we wouldn't have approximately 2 million levels..
So the trailer for LBP2 couldn't say 'And those existing 2 million levels?'
And..Osama Bin Laden would be president
and...
and...

They already admitted this, nine months ago, here (http://www.criticalgamer.co.uk/2009/11/05/media-molecule-talk-to-critical-gamer-part-one/)...

Though they?re less common than they used to be, nobody who?s played LBP can have failed to notice the so called ?heart for heart? levels. These are sometimes no more than one ? second affairs, where anybody playing them instantly drops onto a level exit. They exist only so the people who made them can ask fellow trophy hunters to play and ?heart? them. When I start talking about this, Martin and Johnee start laughing at a rather sheepish looking Danny, who answers:

?John probably has a different view, because he was a community guy. I feel largely responsible for this, because?? he pauses, facing more laughter. ?Well the thing is, we looked at the trophy system ? I?m a trophy addict, I love trophies ? we thought, ?how can we reward creators?? Because rewarding players is quite easy. But creators, I thought ?let?s make it so that if you get a level published, and enough people play it??. However, some people who aren?t that creative want the trophy ? which is fair enough -? The other two agree on this. ?And the way to do it without creating something of worth, is to ask?? yet more laughter cuts off the end of that sentence. ?I respect them for doing that, because I want the trophy, I want all the trophies.?

?If they were clever enough to think of doing that, why not?? says Johnee.

?It was entirely our fault.? declares Danny. ?You can?t blame the community for it.?

?You can?t blame the community.? Martin agreed. ?I mean, I suppose the real reward of creating a great level is the actual acclaim and comments, and the fact that you?ve created an experience that other people have enjoyed.?

So the ?heart for heart? level phenomenon is unfortunate, but if any blame is to be apportioned, it lies solely with Media Molecule?

?Absolutely. Send me an e mail!? says Danny, to yet more laughter. ?John at??

?What?? cries Johnee. The laughter is more powerful than ever now.

The apparent laughter would indicate that they don't take the H4H phenomenon that seriously, which is probably the best way of looking at it.

Since it's come up several times before, I choose the latter.
