Optimal Gemini .01

Optimal Gemini .01NinjaMicWz
A semi-short re-imagining of the original Seminal Gemini project, which featured the then-new 2x flying paintinator. This one is an expanded dose of the 1st half, souped up, built from scratch, and loaded with new takes on the old and a much more polished and balanced gameplay flow.
There's no story in this redux, since it's just a companion piece focused on action, fun, and point opportunities... but the original still retains the story, as well as the 2nd half of it's old-school flavor.

I'm back after a year and only started this on Monday, so if there's any major issues to remedy, let me know. Routine 2x testing has been hard to come by. If i get motivated enough with this project, I might do .02 and finish off the concept.

Hope you enjoy it.

video's fuzzy, and minus all secrets, but it'll give the gist of the lvl.

It sounds like fun. I'll try playing it later today or tomorrow.

Edit: aahh, didn't know it was 2x. I have another controller, but it's messed up right now. I could see if one of my friends wanna play it with me.

OMGOMGOMG!
That's already out man?
Too bad I had to go so soon.

For those who don't known, Ninja has been away one year, and finally he's back.
He's one of the MOST talented creator I've EVER seen.
When LBP wa just released he was one of those that raise the quality bar SOOOOO HIGH!
I've seen him build this boy in an inimmaginable quick time.
Legends say that he and GrantosUK built the level Twin Towers in two days without almost sleeping.

Go play this level NAO!
And his others too, but be aware that they are not easy.

Welcome back Ninja!

I'm dying to play this... Will need to get a partner and get in there tomorrow. The original is my favorite 2x level.... I've probably played it 50 times. You put this together in record time!2010-08-14 04:31:00

Alright. Even though absolutely no one has played this yet except me with 3 other people, I fine tuned it a little with some added whatnots. So status update I guess.2010-08-14 22:08:00

Played this earlier with CompherMC - absolutely fantastic! Great puzzles, a great 2 player challenge - and that final boss is, well..... BOSS! The movements were fantastic, and you definately had to concentrate not to be fried. 5 stars and a heart from me - I can't believe you put this together so fast!2010-08-15 01:12:00

thanks ccub. glad you liked it, since you actually remember the original too lol this is my next Alien Escape - the only people who play it are me and ccub. no worries, omega, maybe the difficult-to-see video can help.2010-08-16 00:36:00

Oh, I played it with other 4 people and it was a blast.
Pure gameplay mayhem without stupid bells and whistles.
Relentless action and fun, and I'm frightened by the fact that so few people has played it.
They're really missing something, shame on them.

Absolutely - this it's a shame for anyone to miss this. It's 2x actual with the emphasis on action rather than puzzles, with a hard edge.

Yeah, really it saddens me...
It's been 8 months me and Miglioshin already suggested (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=21438-Deep-Under-the-Snow-by-Team-Italy-%28Miglioshin-amp-Omegaslayer%29-online!&highlight=deep+snow) to play the original, and this one is still better.

We've also paid tribute to the amazing creator by the name of NinjamicWZ with a little section in Seminal Gemini's style (play Seminal Gemini, NOW)!

Who doesn't play this is a n00b!
Fair and square!

I got the honor to try this a bit with Ninja prior to it being finished and cannot wait to come back with someone to try the finished level. Absolute mayhem for 2 players and actually punishing you to the fullest if you are silly enough to take a moment to look around to even think "Oh wow!! Look at BBRZZZZZRAAAAAAAP!!!" Pretty incredible stuff. In fact I was a bit stumped at the first player gate.. "What.. he's looking at me. Am I supposed to be doing something here?" lol. Awesome stuff for sure.

Great work Ninja!! So happy to see you are back and kicking off the creator skills in such grand style!

Well first off it's great to have the option to play your work again!

Really enjoyed this one. It's got a real focus on the game play which is always fun. The visuals are nice and reminded me a bit of your Facial Reconstruction level at times. I liked your choice for the glowy red background and carrying it throughout the level unified all the different kinds of challenges you have. I played it with a few kids and they were fairly clueless about what to do most of the time but we managed to make it through. Loved the boss movement. Seemed very intense while playing it.

My only negatives are:

Length, which you already know about. Since it was a fairly fast build I understand why it's on the short side. Just felt like I was getting into it and it was done. lol. More to look forward to later I guess.

Cameras: Especially in the boss section and the tower ascent part where you fire at the plasma shooting guns. The angle was really extreme and made the boss fight a little frustrating. Could also have been the multiplayer affecting camera for me too. Hard to say.

Still, it's a fun level to play and since it's co-op it's a great option when I have a friend over. Great work! Welcome back. 5 stars & hearted!

thanks morgana. i keep messing with i t as always, so hopefully i can work out those kinks in time. the look and some things have been changed i think since you posted a score (looks way better imo) and yeah :/ no one ever knows what to do.

only reason i stopped the build actually, was because i hit the right side of the screen, and would have had to have another upward ascent and then start going left - and that last 4 blocks wouldn't have been enough for the rest - figure it'll be better fleshed out on it's own. i did figure out the therm cheat tho, so we'll see what i can do now. my new philosophy is not giving myself a thermo headache like free at last and false idols 3 ever again.

i'm glad you got a facial reconstruction vibe from it... i've always said that it's really my only FUN level, and that's what i was going for here. not so much a real theme to adhere to, and no lofty ideals - just gameplay. now i know why jack does things the way he does.

thanks for the welcome back feed

and l1ghtmare; the original Seminal Gemini is still published but it's under my ninjazone psn with a bunch of really, realy old noob stuff from november 2008.

OMG. I've tried to comment on this thread all day. Timeouts, Android failure you name it...anyhow..

He's back! Yay, so glad to see you back Ninja! What a weekend eh? I'm loving the Optimal Gemini, co-op puzzles and game play are you're thing man..oh and rhymin! LOL Loved the boss. It was actually quite surprising when I saw it for the first time. I was like thinking .."Coool". It wasn't as hard as the Seminal boss and I rather liked that. Only thing I got to say is get the Incredibles pack! Brushed Steel would look so good in that level.

5 stars - heart and a glass surfboard.

This level was awesome! we loved the action in this level. I was thinking of making a level like this long ago but never acted on it. The boss was very well done. Its funny 'cause we came in and whoever had the gun for the first 5 tries got killed. It was like the boss knew who could and couldn't hurt it, lol. Then we figured out the pattern and got it. Sadly we didn't get any secrets. though. This level is lots of fun. 5 stars and a <3.

PS: Free At Last is getting me frustrated . Don't know where to go after a certain part. I will beat that level though .

thanks, l1ghtmare. glad you guys had fun. that's what im going to try and focus on. add me on psn if you want.

also, free at last can be a pain. i would rebuild it a little tighter too if it weren't so huge. if you find the lvl thread, theres a 2 part video thats step by step.

thanks everyone who's played and helped improve things. i'll return the feed asap
