LBP2 Beta Coming soon!

Hi all

There will be an LBP2 beta soon. We will have some more news on how we will recruit for this beta soon, but in the mean time i wanted to drop in and say that you will all be in witha chance to get in. If you are already in the beta group, you will automatically be in, and the forum has now been re-opened, so come along and say hi

Note by Site Staff: Currently there is NO information as to how exactly the new participants will be selected or indeed how many new participants there will be. The only information that we know for sure at this point is that if you have participated in any other LittleBigPlanet beta tests in the past, you are guaranteed access to this one as well. If you're not sure if you have done so, then you probably haven't, so you'll have to wait until we know more. We know it's difficult, but we are unlikely to have any solid details about how to get into this beta until next week, so hold on as patiently as you can until then.		2010-08-13 11:30:00

It depends if the gatling guns simulate rotation on the X-axis by using movers to move them between layers, and if the missile launcher actually loads the missiles into the launcher from an ammo bin.

What: A beta is an early version of a game used purely for testing reasons.

When: "soon" is all we know.

How: You'll be emailed a beta code with details how to get it if you are accepted into the beta.

Who: Everyone who was in the previous betas, we don't yet know how others will be picked.

Where: No where yet.

Why: Because the game needs to be tested.

He meant that everything is explained in the first post of this thread, Spaff said that they don't know how they will be recruiting, but for all of those in the original LBP1 Beta, they will be added, but those are the only people for sure, The people at Media Molecule are working out how they will recruit.		2010-08-13 15:40:00

Guide to reading the first post:

Surprisingly enough, to read the first post, you must actually be able to see the first post, try here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=32987-LBP2-Beta-Coming-soon!). Then you will need to look at the letters in that post, if you look carefully enough the letters join together to make words, and words join together to make sentences, try reading those sentences.

No you have it wrong, everyone who has participated in the LBP1 beta (OC, water, etc) will have access to the LBP2 client just as they have with every other phase of beta testing that LBP has had. Then you will need to look at the letters in that post, if you look carefully enough the letters join together to make words, and words join together to make sentences, try reading those sentences.

I think when they refer to previous beta testers, they mean those who got into the water beta.

Sony had better ensure that PS+ users get access as early as public opportunities to beta are made available. I mean, if there's a public lottery to get into the beta, and PS+ users don't get guaranteed access along with that, I can imagine there'll be a lot miffed users given that early access to betas is supposed to be one of its perks. Well, they say early access to betas for some games.

Alls I'm saying is that if there's a publicly accessible beta for LBP2 - and it sounds like this will be publicly accessible beyond the existing beta group - and if PS+ users are locked out, it'd be a knock to the credibility of the service. I can understand if the beta was totally closed with handpicked people only, but if there are going to be other ways to get in, and PSN+ doesn't figure into that, Plus will have fallen at one of the first hurdles in terms of living up to expectations that Sony has planted. I think a lot of Plus users will be using this particular beta as a test of the service, to see if it'll live up to the billing, given that it's the first beta since Plus was launched, and high profile one at that.

I think a lot of people are getting confused too. The beta group, I don't think, includes people who just beta-ed LBP1. I think you had to be in the water beta. If you're getting Accessed Denied now when you try to log on to the Beta forum, I don't think you are in the group.		2010-08-13 16:13:00

However, in this situation, Spaff_Molecule hasn't given us any date, range of dates, or anything of the like.

There may be some confusion to this post, but allow me to evaluate. The post may be somewhat misleading in context. Spaff has written "[...] you will all be in witha chance to get in." It is safe to assume that "witha" is a spelling mistake that was intended to be written as "with a", and similarly, "a chance to get in" was referring to the LBP2 beta judging by the title of the thread and the image provided.

What Spaff means is that people will not necessarily be restricted from the beta due to region, creative ability, or other suspected criteria.

I just wanted to clear up some confusion about...well, why there's so much confusion. Lots of people here probably don't understand why there's so much mystique and "shadow" surrounding the details of the beta, which is understandable - why can't they just tell us now? I understand that mindset, but I want to reassure you: there are very good reasons why they need to keep these things quiet.

- First and foremost, because they likely haven't settled on a number of the details themselves yet. Remember, it's not just Mm organizing this beta. It's Mm and SCEE (that's Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) working in tandem. That means there are lots of people involved that need to sign off on decisions and get other things moving simultaneously to ensure that when the beta does go live, it does so as smoothly as possible. A beta is a complicated thing - aside from the actual beta software itself, there's a lot that needs to be done for something public to work right. Codes need to be generated, forum permissions need to be set up, email addresses need to be gathered and batched. It's a very complicated process, so sometimes the details that are most important to us (when?!? or how?!?) are also the last things that are officially decided on.

- Hype! Pure and simple marketing. Let's be honest here - the less we know, the more we talk about it, and the more word spreads. It's a useful tool, and obviously one many developers and publishers have grabbed on to (have you seen how many public betas there have been in the past few years?). I'm not saying these betas are useless (I know you guys don't know the details, but the number of bugs found and fixed in the last few LBP betas is crazy), but publishers and developers have noticed how they can double as marketing tools when deployed in the right way, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's a component here.

- Flexibility. Any details they tell you now they won't be able to change later without causing an uproar - however, if they withold the details that they aren't quite sure of yet, they have the flexibility to change them without angering their fans. For example: let's say they announced that the beta would begin...Tuesday, and everyone who logged on PSN on that day would get instant access if they wanted it. However, due to one problem or another, on Monday they are forced to announce that the beta won't begin for another two weeks, and it would have to be apply-only. That would definitely cause an uproar in the LBP community. Looking at it specifically, that's not a bad deal - right now, everyone expects to wait at least two or so weeks, and they expect some sort of application. However, because the expectation was "downgraded", it has a negative effect. If they keep quiet about the details, they can wait until they're 100% sure what they're doing before announcing it to the public, so there's no "disappointment factor" involved.

There's a lot more thought that goes into these announcements than you'd think, trust me - there's a reason for the madness. 		2010-08-13 21:38:00
