Personally I'm not a fan of the fandom. I read HS and enjoy it greatly, and sometimes consider making piece of fanart, but a large amount of the fanbase just goes freakin' nuts with it and then you get DA cluttered up with countless fan art pieces of which are pretty much ALL shippings and sappy what nots. This combined with other major fandoms like MLP (jeeeeeese) and Anthro (*shudders*) make for a generally low quality popular page, but people like what they like, I just wish they didn't like it to that extent if you know what I mean.2012-02-27 00:26:00

Why's that?

It occupies and clutters all my pages in forums, dA, tumblr etc., I dislike the character design (if I have to see that person with the oddly shaped horns one more time I might rip out my eyeballs), and I generally just found it kind of lame.

The characters are left intentionally vague, apparently. I didn't mean that hate thing, I like you!
Something about letting the reader imagine it for themselves. Not "like" in that way! Why are you still highlighting these.

Nah, but I like to read over it carefully, if you understand whats going on it turns out to be really rather clever. I also like to spot call backs, which is a stupid occupation but strangely fulfilling.
Xero, a small note: its character design has probably got so popular as a direct affect of the popularity of the comic - as with all things. And the popularity of the comic comes from the character personalities, and an utterly insane storyline. (Coupled with a large dose of silliness.) So yeah, I judge it by those things rather than the unimportant stuff to get an overall opinion.

On topic about update:

Wow, noticeably more violent. I guess it's safe to assume these trolls are older (about 16) and holy crap something just clicked. The age difference between the alpha kids and beta kids is 3 years the same amount of time estimated to be the travel time for the beta kids/trolls. I feel like that should have hit me so much longer ago. So what is the correlation? Doc Scratch did mention that the trolls in the past were less vicious than the offspring. I mean, I presume the older Vriska girl looked quite more innocent than the younger one. And Post-Feferi, she was the Condesce (And I have a feeling she's the Baroness too, for some reason) so I think she was more killy and stuffs? Maybe the rest of the trolls are nicer than her. Eh.

I'm a Pisces, and I'm a bit ashamed that post-Feferi has a personality I dislike of. mm, I have the highest blood ever, so that makes up for it.

The whole thing seems like an affectionate parody of the Sims at first, but ends up as a story of coming of age and the Creation of the Universe. Its also incredibly silly. There is a lot of genre-savviness, unusual characters, ridiculous chatlogs and an unending list of running gags.

Personally I just like it because its a great story. I am a reader, so I appreciate the depth, thought and spontaneous why-the-hell-not that went into it. Also because of its very unserious attitude to itself. It seems frivolous, and even when you somehow end up routing for all the characters, continues not to take itself seriously just to troll you, then ends up hitting you in the face with some intense revelation. >_>

So basically, the creators have no idea where to take this comic anymore, so they just whip up spontaneous and pointless stories that don't contribute at all to the comic's overall plot much like modern day television like Family Guy and every sitcom ever made? Thanks, that makes my decision to not follow this webcomic much more easier now.

Supposed post-scratch Karkat dialogue with Dirk was interesting. What clicked this time around is that certain intentions and feelings about the sessions have flipped with the post-scratch kids.
Pre-scratch: Everyone wants to play> They want to work together> Things go terribly wrong>People be killin' people.
Post-scratch: A few are apprehensive of the game> Post-Karkat thinks it's about dominance> ??? > ???
Dirk even hypothesized about Post-Karkat's potential change of heart.

Herpderp Cyber that is not what I meant, I should have been more specific. The guy has an overall view of the story, but he often picks up humorous suggestions from the forums occasionally, (the old comics ran on the these entirely for the lulz.) Or thinks up new ideas as he goes along (its a heck of a long comic, so this is inevitable) like many authors. This preserves the epic nature of the story while keeping it entertaining and with sense of spontaneity - kinda like real life, maybe? (Wow, now I am pushing the theory - blame the English analysis essays I am always lumped with.) It just makes it fun to read.

Hmm, post-scratch Karkat's ideas on dominance are worrying. However remember how the past trolls wanted to go against eachother in rival teams? It doesn't sound so different. I like Homestuck for two reasons:

1: Because it is about a videogame, something I do really love, and it has a nice story plot. Completely confusing, but that is the point of the story, and it is a idea nobody else has had before, and the story feeds my mind with awesome stuff. It also has a nice discography.

No, I don't think Roxy and Dirk are in the future. Although it showed Jake and Jane's future from their present time, I think it showed Dirk and Roxy's future from pre-scratch times to their present time. That is a good theory though.		2012-03-08 18:30:00

I thought the new buildings resembled that grid (which seemed to activate as she left) under the house, with the divisions of the four squares. If I remember correctly, only one of those boxes in the grid was activated when Rose stumbled upon it. So this crazy power grid thing must have some correlation to the creation of the grid of buildings we see Roxy standing on.2012-03-08 22:30:00

So this is why John thought of Betty Crocker as their nemesis, huh?
And the world was completely flooded, almost surely by the post-scratch Condesce, as she is supposed to love sea stuff and all that.
And Jane finally entered the Incisphere... I guess her planet will be related to cooking, or something. Maybe also evil...
And, those Crocker grunt things... THERES SO MUCH STUFF GOING ON.
Scratch really gives the story a different feeling for me...

Out of the things I enjoy in Homestuck, the thing I hate is Hussie's multi-character between-act scenes, not because they look self-indulgent, but because they just add a whole lot more to explain in an instant, and are all non-sequitir. 		2012-03-11 10:59:00

Hang on, though... if John created the scratch only hours after they all entered, how did the the post-apocalyptic Earth and the exiles still exist, centuries after? Thinking about how there were both some pre-scratch and post-scratch objects, like Jake's bullets and stuff, the two universe instances might have merged together somehow.

It could explain how Jack was killing the dream selves and preparing for the game before it begun too, like he could remember the pre-scratch universe.

So, unless the money is supposed to be sent by a large publisher or game developer, he's actually suspecting someone on Earth to pledge up to one-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh dollars? I would guess the tier reward would be a bit bigger than that, at least.


Really, I do like Homestuck. I like the stupidly overdone plot, the flashes, the huge amount of characters with a big range of personalities, the memes. I like the part of the fandom which creates animations and images which poke some fun at the comic, Hussie and it's memes. Possibly the only thing I hate about it is the part of the fandom with their cosplays, their sadstucks, their music videos, their "enthusiastic" ships, the rediculous amount Ask [Character] [Sequel number] videos, and of course, the girls who dye their hair white and video themselves in a half-butted Roxy getup in their room.
It's great that they're showing their love for the webcomic, but personally, it just isn't my thing to do something like that. (This isn't exactly related, but it needs a mention on this thread.)
Unless Hussie does enjoy creating more Homestuck stuff, he was doing fine as he was. I'm hoping I'll see some concept footage soon too for the game. I think every homestuck ever wll rage if it's a prolonged version of A6I3 introduction.		2012-09-10 16:42:00

Someone donated 10,000 dollars. They said they are working in Afganistan and Homestuck is one of the few things that brighten their days; and that their money was 'there for spending'. I think it was rather sweet. ^-^
