New movement tool
Archive: 15 posts
I think there should be a new movement tool. A tool which allows objects to (more easily) move in complicated patterns. Like instead of making an object move up and down or side to side, there should be some kind of tool to make objects move in a rectangle shape and stuff like that. For example: I want to make a platform move in an eclipse shape above and eclipse shaped fire thingy, so that you have to jump when you get to the end of the eclipse or you fall into electrified "water", or jump on the underside of the platform when it flips to get score bubbles and a prize bubble under the fire thingy. I know that this is most likely possible in game, but probably real complicated. If anyone knows how to pull this off, can you tell me? I just think this new movement tool would be real helpful. | 2008-10-19 02:00:00 Author: qrtda235566 ![]() Posts: 3664 |
I don't understand what you mean, diagram maybe? | 2008-10-19 02:03:00 Author: Dropbear ![]() Posts: 272 |
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z5/awesomemans/Untitled-2copy.jpg There you are. Making the platform move in this manner would be be very difficult, you'd probably need a ton of magnetic key switches, however making it flip would only require two magnetic key pairs. | 2008-10-19 02:21:00 Author: qrtda235566 ![]() Posts: 3664 |
Linque made something exactly like that. PM him maybe? ![]() | 2008-10-19 02:22:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
Simple, make a turning wheel, attach pistons to make a elliptical orbit, and time the rotation of the platforms so they turn upside down when you want. | 2008-10-19 02:38:00 Author: Dropbear ![]() Posts: 272 |
I agree with you that they should add this tool, I'm just hoping MM makes a ton of free tools DLC ![]() | 2008-10-19 02:45:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino ![]() Posts: 5250 |
they should just add a "track" button... that way you can free-hand a track to have platforms move on... | 2008-10-19 03:22:00 Author: 12454522412412 ![]() Posts: 779 |

Here's the PM I sent to Awesomemans: At 1:41 in the Glass Challenge video, you have a cool moving platform. Can you tell me how to do this? Check this video, at 01:40 you see how the moving platforms are made: UIe0GwI4j8U Basically what I have behind the wall is a rail made of antimatter (so it floats in the air), and on both sides of the rail are a set of rubber wheels that are bound together by a rubber plate These wheels are a bit closer to each other than the rail, so that they're constantly in contact with the rail on both sides, this way they move along the rail as the wheels turn, even upwards. You can make them be closer to each other than the rail by making the rail a bit thinner in the beginning, then making in thicker. The platform is attached to two of these wheels by loose bolts, so it can turn whichever way you want. | 2008-10-19 10:45:00 Author: Linque ![]() Posts: 607 |

So it's similar to how rollercoasters move, right? | 2008-10-19 11:02:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
Not sure how rollercoasters work. Here's a picture making it easier to understand: http://linque.pp.fi/LBP/coasterplatform.jpg | 2008-10-19 16:37:00 Author: Linque ![]() Posts: 607 |
It's crazy how that idea went through your head O_O thanks for sharing though ![]() | 2008-10-19 17:03:00 Author: RedPanda ![]() Posts: 191 |
That was a really great idea! I like that video, it had some great concepts and use of motors! Thanks for sharing that! ![]() | 2008-10-23 04:52:00 Author: Velo ![]() Posts: 44 |

T7XI40qK57U Hey, guess what I just found. ![]() At the beginning and at 2:15, and basically all throughout the level, you see a lot of moving platforms! | 2008-10-24 21:29:00 Author: qrtda235566 ![]() Posts: 3664 |
