Post a pic of your Gaming setup!

Archive: 86 posts

I thought it'd be fun to see how everyone else plays LBP!

Post a pic of where you game and point out some interesting stuff in it, pretty simple methinks

WARNING : LARGE PICTURE

http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/3538/britepiccopy.jpg

Thats the new monitor I decided on in the end, the 24" Samsung P2450, recently moved my ps3 from the living room to here!
Zoom in on the mouse and keyboard for scale.
You can see my pod on the screen, also on the right speaker you can spy a sackboy pushing a companion cube
Notice dual keyboards, one for pc, one for ps3.
Also notice armless computer chair so I can sit pick up and play guitar easily.

I need a new case, that one is old and tatty and the sides are falling off :/

Now post yours guys!

I don't have picture, but I can describe:

I play in my living room, a 45" Full HD TV, my PS3 and PS2 are under the TV, in a closet.
Games go to a chest under the PS3, another part of the closet.
Internet cable goes behind the TV, into the wall, up, crosses the roof, gets inside a random hole in the wall, and pops out of an wall socket in front of me, and into the router.

Good lord, you have a smart set up don't you!

(Good job I checked this post before sending it. I originally said "Good Lord, you have a s w a n k y set up don't you!" but it read as "Good lord, you have a s****y set up don't you!"

Dodged a bullet there methinks!)

Okay then.

Here's my full set up. The monitor is used with the PC behind it and sometimes the PS3, though that's usually on the big screen to the right of it. When using the big TV i lay in bed (so it's pretty much straight infront of me).

Close up without the TV screen:

Cost me an arm and a leg that set up did! The mouse mat alone was about ?25 0.o

But I had it in a tiny room so I couldn't keep it, gave it away in the end :/

My kitchen work surface does me fine though.

How big are those screens? That a 22" and 32"?

Haha oh i DO have a tiny room too You're looking at pretty much 1/3rd of it there LOL. I have to move my bed to the side a bit every day to use my chair, as it goes right up next to it Can't see it in the pick though.

And good guess, but not quite! 23" (1080p at 120hz ) and a 26" (720p). So the TV suits the PS3 much more. It looks alot more than just 3 inches bigger than the other one, but thats cause of the massive bezels. Sometimes I'll dual screen them with the PC if i want lol.

Wow, everybody elses seem really messy compared to mine. I'm just too organised.

Apologies for the low quality of the pics, only took them quickly on my phone. My room is rather small, so I've got one from each side.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4079/4885775396_88e70d3552_b.jpg

^ TV and PS3, with loads and loads of clutter (an iPod and 2 PS3 games...), a random left speaker (the right one is on a shelf out of view), a tank containing my gecko who must be asleep, and a reflection of LBPC in the the corner of the TV. Although that's not usually there.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4074/4885775650_59dbf4eff1_b.jpg

^ The other side with my computer desk. Noteable things here include part of a chair, an alram that doesn't work, a Sackboy, a LOST mousemat and a sheep calendar that's still on July.

Bot of these were taken from sitting on my bed, which is where I usually sit to play the PS3.

Indeed it does. However, I actually have an ATI card (5870) so I can't do 3D games Not unless I go nvidia way, which at the rate they're tech is going that's never.

I bought the monitor for the 120FPS in games. It's insanely smooth (in the games from 60 - 120FPS) and has got rid of the screen tearing I used to get on my TV when I used that as the monitor. I'm hoping ATI comes out with 3D gaming tech, as I can't use the PS3 for it as you need a Bravia TV :| Though I'm not that fussed on it anyway, I wouldn't wear 3D glasses for long.

It's insanely smooth (in the games from 60 - 120FPS)

Not that on an LCD your eyes can see a difference much past 60 anyway, 'cos obviously the image isn't refreshed in the same way that a CRT would be. I'd imagine you'd get significantly reduced blurring a screen like that though, which would be nice.

Not enough proper (not mini's or rubbishy PSN titles) Ps3 games run at solid 60fps. Only one I can think of off hand is Wipeout HD and that's only in singleplayer :/

EDIT: Also, spider's a dirty game hoarder like me

Nearly all of my friends trade games in the instant they feel they are slightly done with them, it's just wrong!

It's an not economically sound plan!

Yeah the difference from 60 to 120 isn't really a massive step, but it is there a bit. I mainly needed to get rid of my screen tearing (as some games v-sync is just fail and I don't like running programs over my games). And yeah I never really use the monitor with the PS3 anyway, most games are 720p so look better on my TV.

And I trade in like all my games lol. I got rid of Mario galaxy 1 and 2, LBP and MNR to get SC2 and SSFIV lol Though I've barely played the latter so may take it back

Ya, I rarely trade my games, who knows when I might want to replay any of them. Plus, if I did want to get rid of a game, I just sell it on ebay. All those games don't even count the PSN games I have lol.

I also hoard, you just can't see the shelves full of games in that pic. I have traded in some games over the years, some really terrible ones but my main response years down the lines is "why did I trade that in?!". So I try refrain from such activities.2010-08-14 17:45:00

Haha! Why thank you. It's painted. I made a few wall high stencils to go side by side. I found making one huge one was not only difficult but sticking it to the wall caused all kinds of trouble and tangles that had you pulling your hair out. The bits you were really painting were the bits in between the branches. So the whole wall was dark blue to start with. Then I popped on the stencils and dabbed in between the gaps. I gave a few coats before moving the stencil for the next part. Making the stencil .. well that's a whole other beast! If you want to know more send me a pm or something and I can tell you the details. Then again, might just be easier to make a stencil ready made from somewhere

It's a small room and I can say the pattern adds some depth, I don't feel boxed in at all and it looks pretty darn good too!

WOW ! 56" ! That must be awesome. Any pics? Sackboy must look like a giant. I wish we could have a TV that big but we haven't got a living room big enough. We only had room for a 40". LBP looks great in HD though. I now know what I've been missing all this time.

Sitting too close to a 56" television would kind of suck, though. It really depends on the room you have, so a 40" is probably fine for you. But, yeah. HD makes a big difference for it.

My gaming setup is a TV set on the floor in front of a rack of clothes... I don't think anyone cares? lol

Man, you sound like my kind of dood. I think this thread could use a pic like that. I'll have to post mine when I get around to charging my camera battery. It's basically cable hell. I don't have furniture for my tv to sit on so it's wobbling precariously on a tiny miniature wooden table meant for... I don't know... an alarm clock?

This thread needs to stop reminding me that I desperately need to do something about the cables under my desk... It's getting out of hand.

Yes that really is the extent of my gaming set up. I don't use my computer because it's sound card has broken and I can't afford to have it getting fixed for week since I need it for school

Thanks! The guitar is actually my dads (but he's away, so i've stolen it! :kz my other guitars are downstairs. It's a really nice guitar to play and it sounds beautiful. It's the nicest guitar i've ever played.

My laptop is a 15-inch Macbook Pro. Best computer i've ever owned.

(You know what's weird? In my last post, you can't see the text at the bottom saying "Sheesh! All you guys are so suave in your set ups!..." but when you click "Reply with quote" It shows up in the quote. Hmmm, just thought i'd mention it. Database error?

Hmm... Didn't notice it, but yeah it's probably an error.

BAUWMP!

New set up in my dorm room at University. Feels good to have a desk!

http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/1483/image1555.jpg

Also, notice the PS3. I said I wasn't going to bring it, but boredom forced me to do so. No internet for it yet though, since I need to register it as a new device + pay + blah + blah + blah....
