Okay yesterday I bought lbp psp and when I started it up I got the psp logo and then it would just go to a black screen. I tried 3 different copies of the game and the same thing happened. I tried my other games and they worked fine. So I was wondering if anybody knows what's going on.2010-08-11 22:56:00

Does this happen with other games? Try putting another disc into the psp. If the same thing happens, there's something wrong with the laser that reads the disc. If all else fails, you should ask the people where you bought it from for the downloadable version voucher. Hope this helps!2010-08-11 23:00:00

Well first I would see whether your PSP is on the most recent firmware. I would also try games that need the same firmware or higher than LBP PSP. I cant remember what that is.

Also what is the model of your PSP, and how long have you had them.
Have you done the LBP PSP updates, if not try them, if you have delete the game data and try to load you may have a corrupted download.

My first guess would be your UMD drive is busted but there is a lot of different reasons this might be happening so before you run out and get a new PSP try some of these options.

My psp has the most recent firmware. It's a 3000. What exactly are the LBP updates. I also forgot to mention that this has happened with a demo before.

The LBP updates are bug fixes and minor content updates, but it shouldn't be a problem. So it stays black right after the psp screen?2010-08-12 01:07:00

I'd say erase all existing LBP data from your memory stick and try again. Delete both the save file and installed data folder.2010-08-12 02:11:00

But he shouldn't have any data because he couldn't get the game to start.

Okay, so, we know that:
The PSP logo shows up, and then it goes black.
You can access the HOME menu, so the game isn't frozen or anything.
The same issue occurred with three different copies of the same game, all purchased from the same place. (?)
This issue only occurs with this game.

Hmm...
First question: Do you quit the game immediately after it goes black, or do you give it a while before exiting?

I give it a while before going to the home menu.

Okay, that rules out you being impatient...

Try updating the game by going to the UMD icon (if it is a UMD), pressing triangle and selecting 'Update'.
