Race around the world, each time speeds up, you only get one life to live, and that goes for this level as well. Very simple concept, just jumping and running as world rotates, music created for level, not much more than to say looking for a few brave people to take on the worlder race. Only 9 plays on this level so far, and most were me. I also thin I am the only player to even survive one rotation. The level goes for as long as you can make it.

(A race so exclusive you are flown to it by plane)

Still no feed back on this level, by people that played it. Just completed another update on the level, added several more effects like snow and moving waves where possible, stormfronts, added and then tweaked the pirateship. 30 or so people have played the level, most all have scored, but no one has made it around one lap of the world but me, I bet I can make it 4 times. I want to try more laps, but I am not sure if it is in bad taste to have the highest score on your own level.

P.S. This is not an amazing level, but I did try and make it somewhat unique in its feel. It is a simple moving screen race. If you hate it, it is not my best work, if you love it, then maybe my other work is horrid.

It looks good. Don't know why it isn't getting comments... Lots aren't right now.

I'll give it a go!

edit: OK, I died on the first go round, so that may be putting some folks off, but I love the concept and I really dig the visuals, so I hearted it so I can try again another time. Not big on the Survival aspect, but it's very well done.

Is that supposed to be "Melt With You" playing? That part could use some work.

I thought about adding a spawn point for the first rotation and then after that set it for the plane ending. Perhaps I will do that real quickly. Thanks for the feedback.

Edit:
Just did that, touched up on somemore effects, fixed some emit issues, and now you have four respawns and a little corny lifes meter added. The only thing I worry about it that it may now be too easy, but then again if people like it with four lives they may be up for looping until it becomes too fast to survive. Hope this is better.

Ok last post on this level. I think it is all perfect runningwise. Had to change a few things to get the spwn to work, so if anyone played it and the spawn did not get you to the end it was because the level was slightly over heated and the lag caused the switch to not work at times, so now added a few more parts to make sure the switch works. Enjoy. I may edit this post later with pics of the level in its new state.2010-08-14 21:24:00

Oh that is inspired by "Melt with you " in the background, well to a degree, I only had one little page and it was missing quite alot. I pretty much have a melody that follows the same pattern, but then looped as best I could. Wish there was a way to have the piano play a longer note. The level OK Picnic has pretty much the full song note for note (Teddy Bear's Picnic) playing during the race, the problem is massive songs take up tons of space oh and there is not a full range for the keyboard (which I think in both songs it was not possible to hit the low notes). I may try and do something more to make the song work, but tuning an entire keyboard took some time, going back and adding sharps and flats ois something I was putting off. Was the song bad? I just wanted a background theme that alluded to walking the world to match the level but if it is distracting I will just have to find the sheet music and then add the sharps and flats to my keyboard.

The song wasn't bad. Certainly better than I could do. I haven't attempted my own music, and I probably won't. LOL

There were a few off notes, but at least I recognized it!

You are definately correct, I hit a few issues, the length of a piano note for longer notes, flats because I ran out of space on the board, I added the synth thing to try and extend notes, but to add the flats I would have to take up more space and I was going for visuals when I started, now it is out of the screen and reduced in size, so I guess I can fix it, but I will do that after I finish the level I am working on. I get distracted on my levels a bit too easy. But here are some pics of the update on the level, thanks for your help.

Here are a few images of the music sheet above. You can see the notes at the very base, I made the sheet to the limit of the notes LBP provided for the piano, so when a note appears down there, it kind of sucks, because the best I can do is throw in another effect to make the piano seem lower. I think this one is 4/4 time, I was working with a few. My other level I think is 3/4 or 6/8.

I got round 1 and a half times it was fun a much needed fresh take on survival type levels the only problem I had as changing layers particularly on the ships part as there's a lot going on I got stuck in the canons a couple of times maybe angle them a bit higher?2010-08-28 20:35:00

Lol, you are right about the waves, I was thining about making them toxic so you did have to bother with trying to get unstuck. LBP auto layer selecting makes waves pure evil. When I finish on the other touch-ups I am doing and the aplhabet, I wil go over all the egdes and make it even better. I will also make the boat way better...including the cannons, I will lift them a little to allow a person to run undet them. Thanks big time for the feed-back. I can make it around 4 or five times on a very good try, but the clouds end up going a bit too fast and cause an issue or two in the super far loops...but by that time it is so fast one has long since been waxed. I think I will add something to preven that issue too. Again thanks for the help.

EDIT: Ok, I decided to fix the boats, toxic the water, fix a few corners, and a few other details. I maxed out the level in switches, I found when it overheated it did not matter how many coreners I removed, the second I removed one switch it un-overheated. It most likely has to do with the music sheet that has hundreds of switches. Oh well, home you like it more now. Freed up enough space to start on the cloud issue , but it was not important, so I will finish that later (it is not like anyone has made it more than two circles.

I played the level and I thought it was pretty good. You did a good job on the music. The visual style was really good and I liked how the level was so inventive. But I don't really care for levels that spin around like your's level did because the motion feels a bit werid for me. I could tell you worked really hard on the details. Overall it was a enjoyable survial level. 4 out of 5 stars. P.S. I didn't go all the way around the Earth because I kept dieing and I didn't really care about the level spinning like it did.2011-01-15 21:19:00

Woohoo! I almost made it around twice.
Anyway, great level! Definitely a nice spin on survival levels (lame pun not intended.) I thought the music went nicely with the level, and having four lives was perfect. Having only one would have been way frustrating. Great details, fun and funny; overall a well made level!

This level really doesn't need any work. I loved the music, loved the design and how you used every plane, that made the level very, very pretty. Though there is one problem, and that is the rotation of the earth/the camera speed. I found myself a lot of times far ahead of the camera, which caused me to die or have to wait for the camera to catch up. I did something wrong on the boat section though, because I couldn't see myself at all on the boat. Nice evil pirate ship though.
Great level, minor tweaks could help, but overall pretty awesome.
This level is definitely going to get a replay, I want to beat your score! >D

Yeah, I wish there wa a way to erase our own scores on our levels, just because when we make them, we know where everything is. I want to be able to test my levels and not worry about making a high score that can not be beaten...but sometimes I get carried away and make the highscore anyways. It is good to hear about the camera and speed. Here is the issue I have with them, the camera keeps the player from wanting to go faster than the level turns, so I am worried if I allow free flowing players will forget about their place and cun too far ahead...oh it also keeps several things hidden off stage. The spped of the world is tied with that, it starts slow and allows it to spin eight times faster before it goes too fast. If I speed up the first rotation the player will get stuck with less rotations and less time to get ready for the faster rotations. THe next speed would reduce the feeling of waiting around, but not leave the player with the chance of memorizing the level.2011-01-17 18:45:00
