Scales of Order (project)

Okay, my first project. A series of levels that has RPG, platforming and puzzle elements. What inspired me to start this project were the numerous Zelda and FF games I've been playing lately, but inspiration is not enough. I'm going to need a group of people to create this wonderful project: starting in LBP and finishing in LBP2. I hope someone is interested in this.

Here's some details about the series I have thought up so far:

Story goes something like this: An evil monster comes from the Dark Realm and destroys the Emblem of Light. This will unbalance the Scales of Order and causes chaos and ultimately transforming our Light world into a dark chaotic world ruled by the evil monster and it's minions. But the Gods of Light intervenes (indirectly) the monster's plans by setting a hero on a journey to defeat the monster and restore the balance.

Game play: The player will control the hero, duh. He or she is a wizard of sorts. Capable of casting different spells ranging from the basic fire spell (that can burn enemies and objects) to telekinesis (which you can use to move objects around, "heavy" objects won't budge, though.) The main character will also acquire several items during the game that can be used to solve puzzles (for example the Hourglass of Time, which will stop the time and movement of objects temporarily).

Locations: Two distinct worlds, the Light and the Dark, with different temples and dungeons, castles and cities.

There will be lots of puzzles and platforming, a boss battle or two, cut scenes etc. etc.

I'm going to need people that are good in (You don't need to be skilled in everything though):


Creating detailed environments and structures and whatnot. Remember lighting.

Creating cut scenes.

Making good fitting music. (We'll have to see how this one works out, because there isn't much info on music composing in LBP2)

Building working (possibly quite complex) logic systems. (I will be doing a lot of the logics myself, but if anyone is interested...)

Making a good storyline. Or writers in other words.

Testing and finding bugs. (Creators will also test, but we're going to need people who don't know the levels inside out)

Creating. (We need creators)

May not need voice acting in this project.

Count me in for creating your detailed environment. We can exchange psn's and get together on lbp. I'll also do cut scenes. Those are going to have to be done in lbp2, but i could sketch them on paper so we have an idea of what it will be like. 2010-08-11 05:48:00

True, true, but it's very hard to do a one. If you look up my only level on LBP, you can see that the cameras needs some tweaking. Oh, and it was also my first level I created, proud of it even if it almost caused hair loss. Annoying glue.

It was awesome meeting you, ray! Your logic... it was ... *brain explodes*

Im excited to get this project going. Once we get the first level done and everyone understands what their place in everything is, we can move really quickly because we can create alone without guidance.

Hey look at that. I've actually been looking for a group to create with. I can help to write it. I had an idea similar to this, VERY similar. It was about a kingdom... that's it......

Well there was a kingdom where some of the sackvillians lived. And it must be heard.... (fades to story)

(Mainly I wanted to start it off with an opening like when you actually start the game, but add a little more to it.)
You know where the dreams and ideas of many go. To a world of converged thoughts... Known as The Little Big Planet. But deep inside, where the sun of the universe never hits, there lies in the darkness a realm. The realm of the nightmares. Filled with creatures made of fear and hate there wasn't a single heart in that world.

(scene shows 6 shadows in the background with evil creatures in the forground.)

(Cuts to happy scene of a kingdom from far away.)
(Goes into the city and shows the happy children and villagers.)
(Zooms back out to castle.)
(A black fog starts to come from the horizon, or below the screen.) (que ominous music)
(A child loses her ball in a bush, then disappears. Fade to black.)
(Village is now getting attacked, fire everywhere, warriors are dead.)

Stuff is revealed in dialogue. And the most important stuff started a new video.

The story:

Well I can't tell you here. P.m. me in LBPC if you want to hear the story, like the WHOLE story. And ideas of what I was going to do to tell the story.

Maybe we can combine the stories.

I had an idea like this a long time ago. The only thing that stopped me in my planning was the saving system. How would you save your progress? If you can find a work-around, sign me up. I can make some music, finding bugs, writing some script (with a wee lil bit of nostalgia) and maybe even some creating.
PSN: Mikal8pfun (Just got the Beta yesterday).

Edit: Would we change scenes per "level?" As in one time, it can be all Zelda-like, and the next level, it'll be FFVII? Or do we keep the same feel throughout?

I wonder if your the only one in this thread with the beta. You could be the beta tester umm... tester. I would assume the saving could only be done via keys, but we don't know if the beta will have a way to make a saving option. OR, create special stickers for sticker switches that can only be unlocked by the sticker. YES, that's it. It WILL be an open world right? So the only way to push the story along is to have items that they get at the end of the whole lvl. The logic is all in my head and seems fail proof. Hm....

I'll post a picture. Or you get the idea?
