Just a few ideas I was wondering about for LBP2: (arranged in order from newest ideas to oldest, descending)

• When tweaking the music object, musical note symbols should appear when tweaking the pitch of the sound (such as, middle C in the middle, move up one it says C#, D, D#, E, F, G# etc. this would allow for much easier music creation when translating from sheet music: in LBP1 we have to actually count the semitones in our heads or listen to see if the sound is right. :/

• Instead of three checkpoints, using one, multi-purpose tweakable checkpoint, with a tweakable appearance and a tweakable number of lives.

• Holding down the rewind button or the fast forward button down for 3 seconds opens up a little HUD, and on the HUD comes up a few options;

a) Press 'X' to rewind 2 times

b) Press '☐' to rewind 5 times

c) Press '∆' to rewind 10 times

d) Press '❍' to rewind 20 times

e) Press << or >> again to exit this menu.

I believe this would help a lot of people with their rewind problems, and also the fact that lots of rewinding can lead to laaag.

• Glue switch: A switch that can be placed on any object, and can be hooked up between any two or more objects that are touching. Can be set to "inverted" to unglue two or more objects. Toggle audio (hear the glue and unglue sound in play mode or not).

• LBP.me switches: When you publish a level, you are always given a key: With LBP.me, as well as having keys added to your inventory, an LBP.me switch is added, which you can place into your level; LBP.me switches can be sent like keys.
A sackboy goes through your level, and when he encounters an LBP.me switch, a small menu (not as big/large as the "failed to load level", "invites you to join them", "_____ wishes to join you, will you let them" or as intrusive) will pop up, asking you a question: Would you like to add this level: "____________" to your queue?"
Multiple switches will only increase the size of the window, with several levels, and an option to decline or accept all.
(This idea is still a bit premature, I'm working on it though).

So what do you guys think? I might add some more of my ideas to this too.

The inverted Glue Switch could act as a much better Dissolve-Material method. And the LBP.me switch sounds pretty good, sounds better than going on the internet and doing it.

LOVE the musical notation idea. I've heard the checkpoint one many times, and I'm sure tons of people thought about it whiloe playing LBP1, I know I did, anyways still a good idea. All the other ones though seem almost pointless.2010-08-11 04:56:00
