Minigun 2
by warlord_evil

The city has been overrun by enemies, now that all 22 citizens have been evacuated, you can go in with fire to fight fire. The enemy is not a threat, but you have limited time to be there, destroy helicopters quickly and go berserk.

Thanks to Incinerator22 for logic, and the enemy ships and helicopters. Thanks to comphermc for his layer glitch level, and his font level. Thanks to bakscratch for the layer glitch. Thanks to TheAdipose for the tutorial on how to move objects into glitch layers. And thanks to DreadsRose2118 for the FPS helicopter view.
----
This level was designed to be a lot less serious, it was mainly built because people wouldn't stop talking about not being able to move, so in this level, you can move, the overheat comes quicker, but it cools down extremely fast, leaving almost continuous fire, the only real enemy is time.

coincidently released after my level... Going to play it now, ill edit in what i think about it.
I released it because I noticed how you commented about my minigun not moving, so I made a version that has one that does move, I would have put it in the old level, but it has logic and off-screen stuff the player would've seen if they could move around.

haha, yeah, I thought so. It's only healthy competition, I comment about your levels flaws, and you can comment about mine, in the end we push each other to make better levels.

The aim is too jumpy, for instances, you would be shooting an ememy chopper then it bounces left and continuous left for a second. I can understand why and my FPS level suffers the same problem, so I don't expect you to fix it. But how did you keep the frame/gun from not slowly falling down to the ground?? Pistons at work?

Pistons at work, yes, but unfortunately they also cause that wobbliness your talking about.

Oh, the second's out. Awesome, I'll try it soon.

Edit: I liked how there were more targets and yo didn't just wait for another to pass by but you could move around. When I didn't even move it moved me which annoyed me especially when I was going to shoot down a helicopter. The amount of time was pretty good given how it must've take up so much thermo. The explosions weren't nearly as cool as in the original, but that's probably because in this one you can move and there are more enemies to shoot. Like the first one, I loved how it looked like you were in a helicopter and I really hope this evolves. There might be a couple of complaints, but I am actually very impressed since you actually made an FPS in LBP.

Aiming is a pain. But I'm hoping LBP2 will fix that.

Another mini-gun? Nice. Is this one an actual continuation, or just "another" mini-gun level?2010-08-10 14:22:00

Really just a minigun level, not even really a level, just to fulfill peoples wishes for a minigun that could aim, as a lot of people complained about that.

This is very hard to aim. :/

@Warlord, do you have room to add me on Psn? I would like to see of there isn't a way to stabilize this more, I have some ideas...

In the mean time, how does it sense your movement? It dosnt seem good at detecting it..

I'm sure this sounds like a total noob idea, but would it help if you attached a bunch of orange floaty to the minigun stuff, just out of view? My idea is that that might help keep the weight down and add more inertia, meaning less involuntary movement...2010-08-12 01:36:00

It's not a noob idea, I use it
Warlord uses pistons, i use rockets. And in my new level with an 3D M16A1, the gun/frame still bounces around.. But thats probably because the rockets are going off... My gun/frame has far too much inertia because of the orange floatly. You can pick up speed fast, lets say right, but when you quickly dicide to aim left, it slows down and after a second finally turns lefts... I'm planing to add a super powerful rocket that activates for a slipt second to defeat the inertia.

Pistons can move anything regardless of weight, no matter what it is, they move the same speed, floaty or metal.2010-08-12 04:12:00
