| delete this if you want, mods. i know sadness is bad for the forum, but ****it I have to get this out. dad passed away. yesterday, in fact. overdose. I was gonna help him once I was done with school. I could help him like he helped me. in times of rain he was the sun - his hands were god rays piercing through the cracks to comfort me. I'm not sure what to feel. | Thank you for taking the plunge and posting. It does introduce a powerful perspective and reminder to everyone to hear this kind of news. I'm so sorry about what happened. There's been some history of substance abuse in my family and among some of my very best friends. It's a shock and an ungodly shame when it takes someone's life. Hang in there. It sounds like you had a good relationship with him, which is a wonderful thing. My advice is, as others have said, to try and connect with loved ones. Sounds like your dad was a good father to you, so hang onto your good memories of him as they are what's most important and no doubt the real indicator of who he truly was.. | Life wears us all down in different ways. That's the durned truth of it if I've ever heard it! Growing up means accumulating erosion and collecting myriad losses. Nobody gets around it. If you've never experienced a great sorrow and mourning, if your life has been comfortable and pleasant without a speed bump, it's worth knowing the piper comes to collect. Everyone pays. The big bills are the milestones in your life of the greatest learning. I'm sure this experience will make you wiser.
