A very detailed post apocalyptic level that is candy to the eye. A real shocker to anyone who wants to see what earth would look like after a worm has eaten half of it!
Im really happy with my level XD. Iv tried very hard to get a sort of "mashed effect" which worked well. I would agree that it lacks action a bit but it does look really good. Beware there are many dangers throughout your travels through this wasteland. Unstable buildings, dark caverns rock falls and more are all in your way! Hopefully anyone who views it goes "wow" atleast once.

This level was a blast! Pretty darn underplayed.

I certainly said 'wow' more than once! You captured the feel of the level very nicely. One thing I recommend changing would be the speech bubbles. There's just too many, all saying where to go. I suggest leaving it to the player to figure it out, as it's not even difficult to see which path takes you where! Also, the speech bubble that says that the pipe can be walked on seemed a little unnecessary to me. It's your choice in the end, but I felt it didn't really help and that it was quite obvious that I could walk on the pipe.

I'd just like to say, however, that the sequences of rubble falling around were magnificent! I uploaded two pictures for your level in-game, too.

I gave you 5 stars and a <3 despite the lack of actual platforming/gameplay. Nice work nonetheless!

Right. I have to bump this thread. This level has less than 300 plays. It deserves way more. You don't actually do much except story-stuff, but the level looks AWESOME.

Suffice to say, there is unknown talent here.

Wow! This level is visually amazing, and I love your rock slides and collapses!

Opening cinema was awesome!

Beautiful edges and corners, great detail, lighting, the works!

I didn't mind that there weren't enemies or hazards. I think that would detract from the level's stark beauty, and honestly sometimes just finding my way around was challenge enough.

Beautifully done. Congratulations on a well deserved Spotlight. Maybe that'll get this level the plays it deserves!

sounds like a nice level actually! My very first (and currently only published level) had an extremly similar concept to this (you had to save a post apocolyptic world from giant worms) needless too say, yours is far better then mine ever will be!2010-08-23 13:41:00

That was an awesome post-apocalyptic level. The visuals looked unbelievable and well polished and it's cool to see the MGS background as a ruined city when you put the fogginess of background close to maximum. The gameplay is pretty decent but what matters the most in this level is the visuals. Awesome work. 5 stars and a heart.2010-08-24 00:00:00

The image of the worm munching the planet in the intro was very funny the narative overall was very good and added a lot to the experience. The level looked cool as well the fog effect gave it a dusty feel the breaking rocks where planned well i'm looking forward to seeing more.2010-08-24 05:41:00

Man, I wish more people would come here to say just how amazing your level is. The level looks great, has the one of the best atmospheres I've ever seen, and is still manages to stay fresh. Even after all of the post-apocalyptic levels. I just thought this level was brilliant and I really want to see more!

This was a pretty good level. The visuals were good all around. The gameplay was interesting and a nice change from the usual. It was slower paced and about finding a path through the wreckage instead of being a run and jump style level.

I didn't care much for the camera usage. I felt it was panned out too far in most spots and angled too much. Also I found myself doing lots of tiny jumps and hops to get around stuff which didn't feel really smooth to me.

I played the level and I loved the theme you made for it and I also loved exploring through the deserted city. It was awesome switching from being outside in the daylight to going through abandoned buildings or underground making it dark but still great. There wasn't too much gameplay to it but it was still a lot of fun plus the story was amazing. Overall, I gave it :star::star::star::star::star:, a <3 and a mention on my blog Great job. I can't wait for part 2!2010-08-25 16:26:00

I played this level and I was amazed I couldnt help but think about how much time you must have spent on it. As I played threw the level I tried to look at everything and when I did I was shocked by the shear detail of every little part you really did an amazing job! And you said in you original post that theres not alot of action but you made up for it in visuals! Job well done 5 stars and a heart from me!2010-08-25 20:24:00

Hey there. This is an amazing level!

I loved the visuals, they really set the atmosphere of a world in ruin perfectly. The crumbling debris all throughout the level helped to further the effect.

Here is a video of the level:

Well worth :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3.

i had alot of trouble with switching layers and camera angles with this on 2 player, but i replayed solo and it was smooth with no hitches. i really like the in-and-out of navigating and the organic placement of ruin and rubble. the atmosphere and visuals were beautiful. i really love the intro and the stone thrower, but i felt the introverted hint talking was out of place, except 'how do i get to china?". it didn't hurt the level, i just felt too coddled, but i know it's necessary to keep ppl from quitting.

i think an unlockable silent movie version would be AWESOME, like uber artsy. Teebonesy once said that about Torn By Darkness, so please don't think i'm downgrading it... the play was superb.

anyway, i thought this was a visual powerhouse and if i could steal it, and call it False Idols 4, i would... dammm did it look good, and was fun too.

Didn't care too much for the tons of zoomed out cameras, I felt I was being restricted when moving about. I also found it a bit hard to distinguish between thin and thick layers in the first half.
I think it would play better if there was general "go right" design, as then you wouldn't need to add as many hints. (such as arrows/"go in pipe"/etc)
Looked very nice and I enjoyed the lighting.

Interesting level...breaks out of the run-of-the-mill platforming mold. I would definitely consider removing at least half of the speech bubbles--only put them in places where people might get frustrated. This would really enhance the atmosphere of the level. Overall, nicely done!2010-09-04 03:04:00

I really liked this level when I played it, I especially like when you go into the pipes, I have to say that was one of the more enjoyable parts. Can't wait for this one's sequel.2010-09-04 14:11:00
