The Caption Contest - Round 40

All rise, Round 40 of the Caption Contest is in session!

The premise is simple; whoever places the best caption on the provided LBP image wins! The caption could be a thought going through the characters' heads, or something the characters are saying, or even a short story leading up to the picture! It can practically be anything you want, as long as it's clean and abides by the forum rules.

NOTE: Humor is the only way to win!

Each round a new picture will be posted and you have two weeks before the thread is locked for judging. Once the next round commences, a new picture will be posted, and the winners from the previous round shall be announced.

Rules: NOTE new rule below!!! see last one in red

Only two captions per user (you do not have to post both at the same time).

Image editing/manipulating (Photoshopping/GIMP-ing) is allowed.

Awards will be handed out at the end of the round, usually on a Saturday after the 2 week time limit. At that time, the image for the next round will be displayed.

Post the pictures on this thread, there will be no gallery section but they will be archived when the round is over.
Image needs to be around the same size as the original for legibility. Smaller ones will be accepted, but if they cannot be read and you cannot fix your entry, then it will be horribly hard to judge and probably will not win. More then welcome to get with me to give you help, plus I have a handy how to up above!

Awards: (currently being tallied further below since XP is not available due to site upgrade)

Winning Caption -the best caption gets this. [250 xp]

Second Place - second best caption. [100 xp]

Third Place - third best caption. [50 xp]

Consolation Prize - this award goes to the caption that didn't get an award, but was still very good(this may not be handed out every time). [20 xp]

Thanks so much for all the entries. We had quite a few great entries, but we were finally able to narrow it down to three. There were several that were so close that it was really hard picking ironing out those last spots on the podium. Thanks everyone!

The good news is now that XP is back, I can finally award all the XP that has been accumulated along with XP for the winners this round!!! Yay!! I will send a the below list in the spoiler tag to CC and hopefully have that wrapped up soon. Let me know if you do not see it within a few days or so. He has been on vacation and it might take much longer than expected since he is away from his pc.

Hey guys I just wanted to take a moment and thank everybody... man I had some good yucks! over the last two weeks. Earlier today, when I should have been at work, I stopped by and saw the super fantasticly great picture The Countessz & JWW 'cooked-up' this round.... My Brain instantly started buzzing it hit me hard I had to enter it... no sooner had I posted it, the second hit. While I don't think I captured the entire sentiment I wanted, ( I currently do not have acess to my photoshop... )I hope you get a kick out of me kicking off the round. Yeah, well, consider that Joe is Bill's friend, they opened a car store and barbecue shop in the same place, argued and Joe ended up taking the shop, but forgot to remove Bill's name of it.

Can I just ask, is 'Bill Parsons' real or just a made up character for this. It's just that sometimes I feel I'm not 'in on the joke' if some references are to American people or things that I've never heard of. Either that or the American/English humour are on different levels?

Thanks Countess. I just wiki'd Bill Parsons and all it came up with was a baseball player so there I was thinking he must have retired and opened a car dealership

. It doen't take much to confuse me LOL.

BTW I highlighted 'must have' because it's really doing my head in the way so many people on here and in the game cannot get that right. It's not 'must of', that is just so wrong and annoying

Adding text, or something additional to the photo to make it humorous is the object of the caption contest. Speech bubbles, large frogs, text on the bottom, a logo on a sign all work for us. You just have to make us laugh... and the most laughter generated wins.

So in this case, just a logo works.. might not win considering all the other entries thus far, but it is a valid entry.

I really hate to bring this up. but it's bugging me:
I know it's a contest, but with all the funny entries, it's a little sad that most of them typically get two "thanks" (photos and Countez).
I realize that I may be liberal (Almost to the point of abuse) with my thanks button, but if something tickles me, The first thing I reach for is the "thanks" button.

Yup.. TheCountessZ and I always thank all the contestants because we are so happy to get entries. You guys make this thing happen. True, we do put in quite a bit of effort thinking up something, creating the set, taking the shot and creating the posts, but you guys are the ones that make it a wonderful and funny contest. Feel free to thank each other for a job well done. However, that doesn't really sway our decision, but it does show wonderful comradery. ..something we could do with quite a bit more here at LBPC.

I know you've probably been asked before (and not just you!) But I was wondering about the higher quality pictures? How are they taken?

I'd assume it involves the little trick where the Camera zone is larger than normal?

Hmmm... dunno actually! Possibly a bit more self deprecation as well as more tasty snacks for us?

I know you've probably been asked before (and not just you!) But I was wondering about the higher quality pictures? How are they taken?

I'd assume it involves the little trick where the Camera zone is larger than normal?

Actually takes a bit of hardware outside of the game!

We have a Happague HD PVR that records up to 1080i of any component output. Basically we do a HD recording of us posing in our sets we design and from that grab a snapshot from the footage in a video editor. I then take the pic and do a bit of sharpening in photoshop and then it is ready for your captioning pleasure. I also use this device to also record quite a few of the Creator Spotlight videos.

The deadline for this round is still a few days off so we are just sitting back awaiting more entries is all.

The next round will come out after this one is over and the judging is complete as well the new pic for next round.

We do these as two week contests so we have more time for entries as well as more time for us to build the custom sets and create the picture.

I have good news and bad news!

The good news is the thread is now locked for judging! The bad news... dum dum duuuuummm is we won't have the results and the new pic ready till this time tomorrow!! Oh no!! Sorry.. TheCountessZ had to go out of town today and rather than rush the judging, we decided to wait till tomorrow. The set for the new pic has been created, but also needs a bit more work as well as the picture created.

Sorry for the delay!! ...but at least we aren't taking as long as Taffey and his version of this contest!!
