Level Testing -feature

Archive: 12 posts

Hey,

I was just thinking about a good way to find great level testers in here, at LBPC, people that don't just come for the fun of being the first one to play a certain level, but instead are actually experienced testers who have done it before.

So it would be cool that in LBP2, you would get ''experience points'' for testing a level, and of course the creator itself will rate your skills too, and if you want your levels tested, you could post your level to a section where people can come test levels, and you could set an XP criteria so people have to have enough points to test it.

Who thinks this is a good idea?

The problem with being rewarded any sort of currency by another player is that the system is always abusable.2010-08-07 01:39:00

Yeah.. I noticed that too but didn't Mm reconstruct the whole rating system too? Some peoples ratings weigh more than others. That's how the newbies can't abuse it so easily. Same system would act OK for this feature too.

well maybe points should only be given once per level test that will help combat abuse2010-08-07 03:50:00

There's already a thread about currency, in which it has been generally decided that currency in a game like LBP corrupts people. This system is not much different that a currency system, and therefore, like Mrgenji said, it will be abused.2010-08-07 08:49:00

I think this is a great idea! But I don't think it should be done through LBP. Perhaps LBPC? People may take it more seriously and it would be an easy way to get your levels play tested and get some accessible feedback.

And pay no attention to Moony's comment about currency

Doesn't ANY currency or reward do that? Just Wondering.

We know what would happen with the XP system (XP4XP), so I propose just a tag or something somewhere noticeable on a creator's Polaroid pic that would tell the other players that this player wants to be known as an Tester/Reviewer.2010-08-07 21:35:00

No. It depends on the game. Assassin's Creed 2 has a currency system, and it works just fine. It's in Play Create Share type of sandbox games that it really has issues.

Not necessarily. It depends on the person.

And if you're saying that every currency has corruption, than why would a little less of it hurt anyone? LBP2 is going to be just fine w/out a currency.

When did I say I'm with the idea of a currency?

How does it depend on the person? I'd like you see to point one person that isn't greedy for their own good ever.
